60 60. Contract

RuQian had a peaceful sleep for most of the night but it was the same story everytime. She could only have a peaceful sleep until the same nightmare came back to haunt her.

She could maybe get some sort of help but there was no way she could explain herself. It wasn't like she could tell people she had been reborn and that her nightmares were of when she was killed in her previous lifetime.

She would either be sent to a mental hospital or a research lab of some sort. So she could only keep her mouth shut and hope for herself to be able to sleep normally one day.

Master Liu would be coming over the next day, so she just had to go for a jog that day. The work in the backyard was going on well. The training grounds had mostly been setup, mats had yet to be placed though.

Her grandfather had taken care of every detail to make sure she wouldn't be hurt too much. It was weird seeing as he wanted her to learn as much as she could but then again he wanted to protect her most of the time.

She hoped she could finish to learn everything she had missed out on learning from Master Baozi. She missed him so much. A person who wasn't capable of showing any emotions whatsoever, even to his most trusted members, the teenager he took in and even the boy he himself trained to be his successor, coddled her with all the love and care in the world.

But everything changed in just a few weeks. Master Baozi disappeared, her grandmother died, Master Liu left to take care of the underworld and the boy whom she followed around never came back.

Now that she thought about it, during her childhood, Mu Chen's disappearance had hit her the worst. The age gap between the both of them had been lesser compared to her age difference with Master Liu and Master Baozi.

So she felt more comfortable with him, even though he never talked to her much, he always entertained her and when no one was around he played with her.

The cold faced boy tended to laugh and smile when it was just the two of them, so she had felt comforted every time she saw him smile.

RuQian wondered if the reason she kept thinking of Mu Chen as being handsome was because she recovered her memories. And in her memories, the smiling boy had always held a unique adoration for her in his eyes, even if it was around others and he had to maintain an indifferent expression, his eyes never lied.

She had not understood what that look meant at that age but now she clearly recognized it as adoration and maybe even..? RuQian shook her head violently under the shower.

"What the fuck am I thinking? I was just a kid and these are ridiculous thoughts." RuQian cursed out.

She then felt her heart thump slightly remembering that expression filled with an emotion she did not want to recognize.

"Snap out of it RuQian! It's in the past, you haven't met the man he became and you also hate getting into those messy relationships. Remember what happened when you went into a relationship last time. You Died! Remember that!" She quickly berated herself, before any unknown thought festered in her head.

But unbeknownst to her, she already thought of the boy as a man and somewhere deep inside, her mind had accepted that boy's gaze filled with love and adoration for her.

After her shower, RuQian still had time, so she checked her mails and was stunned to have received a reply so quickly.

RuQian's hands shook slightly due to excitement, she hoped it was a positive reply. She slowly opened the mail to see an attachment.

When she opened it, she could see something akin to a contract. Looked like Hacker X would accept her as his student only if she signed the contract.

She first took a look at the contract. It was actually very simple. She couldn't see his face, more like she wouldn't be able to in any way. He would teach her through encrypted voice calls only.

She was not allowed to speak of her being his student anywhere, no matter whether it was in the digital world or the physical world, this was to be kept a secret, which she could understand.

Hacker X was wanted by many people and if she ever mentioned being his student, she would also be treated similarly, like a criminal and she might even be in danger, so she was better off hiding this. And it was possible that people who wanted to catch hacker X would target her to get to him.

The next was she could never ask for his identity or try to know about it. Looked like he really did not want anyone to know of his identity.

Frankly she did not even know of the person's gender, as in the contract everything was mentioned in gender neutral terms.

But a lot of hackers and behavior analysts had concluded of the hacker being a male after years of observation.

The last point was, she would have to listen and follow every instruction he gave her. This point did worry RuQian a little when she first read it, but after thinking about it properly, she felt it was fine.

Hacker X was the best in this line of work, he wouldn't make her do any dirty work. This point was probably being referred as he might not like people not listening to him and questioning his choices, which all geniuses hated.

So after checking all the details of the contract properly twice, RuQian signed it and sent the mail to Hacker X.

After finishing up, she realized she was getting late and hurried over to school. She happily left for school with a smile on her face, as she had been able to start one more of her goals that day. 'I am closer to the end goal by another step. You can do this RuQian. Fighting!'.
