4 4. Reborn

Su RuQian felt a burning pain all throughout her body as if she was being burnt. Her whole body hurt and she tried her very best to open her eyes or move her body, either which she was not able to do. Su RuQian kept wondering what was going on and where she was and that was when she felt the onslaught of memories thrown into her brain all at once.

She suddenly remembered her whole life and every memory played in front of her eyes like a movie reel but in a fast forward manner which caused a tremendous pain in her head. She felt like any moment going forward her head would split open which never happened.

She saw her grandmother feeding her berries under a tree in their ancestral house's backyard, she saw her mother and her father screaming over about a woman while she hid under her father's bed so as not to alert her father because according to him she was not allowed in his room, she saw her mother crying while her grandfather had a solemn expression on his face as they stood in front of a grave with her grandmother's picture which was covered with baby's breath, her grandmother's favourite flower, she saw her grandfather telling her never to trust anyone from the Su family as he believed his wife died because of them, she then saw her grandfather and father arguing about how her father cheated on her mother and even had a child with another woman while her father retorted saying he never cared about her mother or her.

She then saw how her mother held onto her hand in the hospital as she kept reminding her to be safe and never trust anyone and never look for her father, she saw how Chang Min followed her around to accept him as her boyfriend, she saw how she was betrayed by the same man who looked at no one else but her getting engaged to her so called sister. She saw how her father then married the love of his life Lu Ran and told the entire world proudly that the famous Su Xu Mei was his daughter.

She saw how the Su Conglomerate and Chang Tech started collaborating on various projects and started growing together, she then saw how she was stomped on in the party by Chang Min and Su Ting who viewed her as a vermin and made sure the elite society also saw her as one, she saw how her grandfather took her in and showed her the ins-and-outs of Zhang Tech and she started drowning herself in abundant amount of work to become the youngest successful director who never used the power of her grandfather to rise to the position she had achieved and finally she saw how her so called father, sister and ex-lover killed and then burnt her body to a crisp to make sure no evidence was found.

Half of the things she remembered registered in her brain but she never understood any of them because she was very young and later on as she grew up she was always in the middle and was never able to take a step back to be able to see the bigger picture. But now as she had grown up and was able to understand what each and every word meant she realized every little detail was always in front of her eyes but she chose to forego them.

As she was thinking about her idiotic and pitiful past, she heard Lan Xie's cheerful voice calling her name "RuQian RuQian RuQian come on wake up. RuQian I know you woke up I can see your eyes twitching, come on RuQian I want to play we don't have a lot of time left".

When RuQian heard Lan Xie's words she didn't understand what was going on. Did she not die? If she did not die then was she in the hospital? But she was burnt. Wasn't it better to die than live like that? And what did Lan Xie mean? She wants to play? When I am in a hospital after being almost murdered and then burnt Lan Xie wants to play? Is she joking now? What was wrong with her friend. Did her friend go crazy because she almost died? Maybe her grandfather allowed Lan Xie to come visit her in the hospital hoping she would recover. Her grandfather did like Lan Xie and treated her as good as he treated Su RuQian. Was her friend staying in a mental asylum now? She would have to help her friend become better after she woke up.

As RuQian was coming up with different ways to treat her now crazy friend she heard Lan Xie speaking again "Hey RuQian are you really going to ignore me like this? You were only hit by a ball but here you are behaving as if you were hit by a truck. If you don't get up now I'm going to leave you here!"

"Sigh"

'What? Hit by a ball? Has Xie even gone blind? What does she mean hit by a ball? Does being burnt to a crisp look like being hit by a ball? And I really was hit by a truck so why is she making a joke out of it? Do mental illnesses also make people blind? Why did I never know about this?'

As RuQian kept thinking of the possible side effects of mental illness she was suddenly dowsed with water and she had to forcibly open her eyes to glare at her crazy friend, who was maybe in need of her medicine; wanting to scream at her but all of a sudden found nothing to say, as she opened her eyes wide and stared blankly at her now 15 year old friend wearing a white shirt and plaid red brown skirt with a ponytail who looked like a small kid.

RuQian tried to pull out words but she ended up making a gurgling sound from her throat and there were no more words.
