3 3. 27 Years

Su RuQian was driving her Chevrolet Cavalier to talk to her grandfather about the contract they had received from Mu Tech.

The 27 year old Su RuQian who was dumped by her boyfriend Chang Min when she was 20 in front of the whole elite society of Imperial City was now known as the business prodigy of the great Zhang Xie.

She was now someone who could negotiate deals, manage the company, form exquisite business relations with other companies and was also known to get along well with her co-workers.

But even when she was known as the golden hand director of Zhang Tech, she still felt lonely. Apart from her only friend Lan Xie, there was no one she could talk to without being judged and even with Lan Xie, Su RuQian tended to hide her bare self.

Lan Xie was Su RuQian's childhood friend who was there for her when she lost her grandmother and her mother. But Lan Xie left for abroad while they were in high school and only returned when they were 23.

When Lan Xie saw the condition in which Su RuQian was; depressed and suicidal due to being humiliated, she helped Su RuQian get back on her feet. The first time Lan Xie saw Su RuQian after coming back to Imperial City, she was scared witless.

Su RuQian hadn't bathed for more than two weeks and she had several cuts on her forearm which were not treated. There was always a paper cutter in every room of her house. She wanted to kill herself and had taken several anti depressants but they were of low power, which did not help lift her mood. Her eyes had lost the light and spark they previously held and looked lifeless. Lan Xie thought she was looking at a zombie when she saw the pale skin, the eye bags, her bird hair nest and the alcohol stench.

Lan Xie tried to talk to Su RuQian, even started yelling at her but it was like Su RuQian was not even in the same world, she never showed any reaction and just kept staring, dazed, at the wall.

Lan Xie then had to open the curtains, the outside world from the penthouse of Su RuQian's building looked so beautiful yet the girl with the bloodshot, lifeless eyes seemed unaware of it's beauty. Lan Xie first got rid of the paper cutters, the knives and every pointy object, even a vase, she could find. Then she found all the alcohol bottles stocked in two cabinets and poured them all down the drain.

Lan Xie then tugged Su RuQian from the foot of her bed and dragged her into the bathroom. She then helped RuQian into the shower and helped her take a bath. Lan Xie washed her hair and then dried her. She then pushed RuQian into the Walk in closet to help her wear a new set of clothes. Then Lan Xie pulled RuQian to the now clean bed, which the workers she called to clean the apartment had changed. She covered Su RuQian with the duvet after shoving her onto the bed.

Then Lan Xie went out into the living room and made a call for take out at Su RuQian's favorite restaurant. After the food arrived, she served everything on the dining table and went to wake up RuQian for food. Lan Xie stayed with Su RuQian for the next 7 months and helped her deal with her depression. Of course it was difficult for her to get rid of her drinking habits but Lan Xie helped her. If not for Lan Xie, Su RuQian would never have been alive. Su RuQian owed Lan Xie everything she had and everything she would be for the rest of her life.

It was not that RuQian was weak minded, in fact she had a way too strong mind. She could face any emotional trauma with just bare expressions. But the day she went to confront Chang Min she had been humiliated by many of her peers and since no one knew her real identity, nobody came to her rescue. She felt abandoned all over again.

A sudden jerk brought Su RuQian out of her thoughts, she turned to her rearview mirror to see what was going on only to see a blinding light and in the next second she felt immense pain as her car jerked and toppled over, screeching to a stop only after hitting a tree on the side of the road. That was when she saw the three people who betrayed her come forward as if waiting to watch a show.

Su Ting, her father, was standing beside her lover, no her ex-lover Chang Min who had his hands wrapped around the waist of the one person who started her downfall Lu Xu Mei. Oh No! She was now called Su Xu Mei.

As her eyes started to close she heard her father's voice saying, "What a bitch, I never thought it would be this easy to kill both the mother and daughter. Hah! What idiots, one drunk the poison I gave her so easily while the other doesn't even pay attention to who is behind her. God knows whose genes she inherited to be this stupid."

Su Xu Mei asked shocked "Dad, what do you mean whose genes? Isn't she your daughter?"

Su Ting sneered "What do you mean my daughter? That bitch of her mother never even let me touch her. You are my only daughter sweetheart."

These were the last words Su RuQian heard as she drifted off into darkness...
