85 The Undercurrent

"Finally it has begun." Mi Rong thought to herself while walking on the red carpet. Her hand clenched tighter onto the small wooden box that she was holding. Only she knew what was inside.

She did not understand why, but she could feel the adrenaline rushing inside her as she took each step near the podium. Mi Rong was sensing there was something new inside her as if a big load had been lifted from her. She could sense something new stirring from within, but could not fathom of any reasons behind it. Mi Rong pushed the thoughts behind and continued walking.

From afar, in a small corner of the auditorium, a small animal was sniffing the air. Since the spectators were all focused on the Xuan leader, nobody was looking at it. It looked towards the direction of the woman in the limelight. The small creature was no other than Xiao Bai that had changed itself into a small white weasel. This time just like its name (Xiao), he really became small.

Just a moment ago, he sensed Mi Rong's aura had changed for a split moment. His black eyes had turned bright blue. They had changed into a crystal blue for a few seconds, before disappearing. If he was not wrong, he saw a glowing radiation shooting from her direction. He smiled.

Xiao Bai thought to himself, "The first chain has been unlocked." It is only about time that Mi Rong would soon face her enemy lurking in the dark. When he saw Mi Rong approaching the stage, he quickly dashed off heading straight to her direction joyfully.

Mi Rong arrived at the stage. While she was walking, a red and golden king chair decorated with ancient Chinese patterns was prepared for her. She stood in front of it before gesturing the auctioneer to tell everyone to sit. Somehow, all the audience had ended up standing and greeted the Xuan leader. The two bodyguards in red firmly stood behind the chair with their hawk eyes checking the area.

As usual, the auctioneer took the microphone to speak, but before he could say anything; the microphone shrieked. The audiences covered their ears in pain. If it was any pitch higher, then they didn't know if they would lose their hearing. However, the Xuan leader was just as unmoving as before.

Jun Kai, on the other hand, was affected slightly from the noise but was slowly adjusting his body. His eyes turned to look down towards the Xuan leader. He was surprised that she was not slightly affected with it and was acting like normal. Even her bodyguards had to cover their ears. Was it her doing?

However, behind the veil, Mi Rong's brows were furrowed. What happened to everyone? While she was questioning, she felt someone's eyes on her. She turned her direction towards the other person and was in a daze when she saw who the other person was.

Both Mi Rong and Jun Kai looked at each for what felt like a long hour, but it was only briefly shared between the pair before the Xuan leader turned her attention away. Not looking back or showing any interest in the other person.

Jun Kai felt slightly disappointed with her indifference, but what could he expect from her? It was not like they had met before. Nevertheless, Jun Kai's eyes did not leave her. He did not like it when he could not tell what the other person was thinking.

However, not far away from Jun Kai, a person was clenching his heart tightly from the outside. That noise from a moment ago was as if someone was tearing his heart into pieces. Mister Ye's face behind the mask was ugly. The pain struck him in surprise. Although the pain was still stinging, he was trying his best to tolerate the pain inside as much as possible. He then carefully and unnoticeably sat on his chair.

Little did he realize that another person had caught all of his odd reaction.

Xiao Bai popped up from his cover, out of nowhere, onto Mi Rong's lap, "How is it going? Got everything under control?" He spoke to Mi Rong through her mind cheerfully.

Mi Rong rolled her eyes, "Is that even relevant? Do you think this would not go under control?"

Xiao Bai did not bother with Mi Rong's gloomy attitude. He tested the softness of his resting area which happened to be Mi Rong's dress. His tiny paws stepped onto Mi Rong's dress to find comfort and was about to lay down before Mi Rong's words stopped him.

She was not going to let this guy get away and ignore her, so she slowly spoke in her mind, "Besides, what's with your mood now? All of a sudden so happy again. Just a moment ago you were pouting for your unsuccessful transformation." She just could not help to tease and emphasize on what had just happened to poor Xiao Bai.

Unexpectedly, he only got angry for a split second before indifferently changed the topic, "Well, I didn't mean I was doubting in you. Just asking, no need to be offended with it if you can actually handle it." Xiao Bai's anger only dissipated when he thought what had recently happened to this girl without her knowing.

He simply thought to himself that he'll just keep it away from her, so she'll have to work slightly harder for her task hehe. It won't cause any harm, just a tincy bit more work. He then proceeded to curl up into a ball arrogantly. As if he couldn't be bothered with Mi Rong.

If Mi Rong did not have to worry about the others, she would have taught him a lesson. "You really want to pick a fight, huh? Well, you can definitely be prepared to starve." Her voice raised up in their telepathy connection.

Xiao Bai's eyes opened. There was some fear in his eyes and he quickly nuzzled on Mi Rong's hand to make her calmer, "Aiyoo, I'm not the one you want to fight with. Look at that white guy up there, remember? The annoying person you met yesterday at the Feng's family's celebration." Xiao Bai hastily avoided the topic on him to another person. He didn't want to starve by the hands of his little master. He turned his cute little eyes towards Mi Rong. It always works.

Mi Rong looked up towards the person Xiao Bai had mentioned. This time her focus was on the man in white who was sitting in his seat with an oddly pale face. What happened to this guy now? But anyways, such a pain in the neck, appearing everywhere. She had to agree with Xiao Bai. Unknowingly, Mi Rong completely forgot about the tricky little guy sleeping in her lap.

Her eyes looked sideways to Jun Kai who still had his eyes on her. This guy! Still looking at her like she was an answering machine.

What was it with this person, full of questions? And what was it with her, this Xue Li girl? Always full of jealousy. Life is not always that miserable. Ugh, what a bunch of odd people.

Then again, she was not normal too. Humph, we'll just have to wait and see who will win her bet. The auction to this precious little item would change it all.
