13 Rush of Emotions

A restaurant

On a luxurious table, a woman and a man were talking as they waited for their food. The woman was enthusiastic and was the one talking and initiating the whole conversation. Nevertheless, she did not make it look too overboard and tried to keep things casual. On the other hand, the man did not seem to be interested in the conversation, neither did he ignore her.

The two people at the table were Jun Kai and Xue Li. Xue Li asked the waiter to pour them some red wine and began talking about their business companies.

"I heard that our parents are trying to match us together. These old folks seriously can't stop." Xue Li spoke somewhat jokingly and somewhat seriously.

However, Jun Kai was not interested, "Hmm. I don't suppose you'd like to marry me." He spoke while lifting up his glass of wine showing no emotions of the topic. For Jun Kai, he was not interested in any bit to get married. These old folks were seriously fooling around.

Seeing Jun Kai showing no interest what so ever, Xue Li's eyes dimmed. Although that woman is gone, you still have your heart on her. She had a hint of sadness before it quickly disappeared without Jun Kai knowing or maybe Jun Kai was never really bothered with how she felt.

Xue Li was able to quickly recover and change the topic, "Ke ke, you must be joking. However, back at the hospital, it seems Qing Qing has had some kind of 'influence' from her roommate."

"Hmm." His eyes showed some irritation.

"I wonder what you're going to do with her. You wouldn't want her to know more information about you and Qing Qing would you?"

Jun Kai looked up from the glass of wine in his hand. He gave Xue Li a stare that was intense to the point it made her shudder softly but quickly covered it by lifting her wine to drink slowly. Seeing the other person turning her attention away; he too averted his eyes to look around, checking the surroundings. The table became silent.

Finally, Jun Kai slowly opened his mouth to inquire something, it was the only thing that made him come out today to eat with another woman other than his wife, "Exactly a week ago," Jun Kai paused within his sentence while also turning his wine glass. His hand came to an abrupt halt and his eyes that were looking at the glass, turned to the person sitting opposite him, "I heard you went on a trip, did you just come back today?" His face was oblivious, but his eyes were not and showed some hint of danger.

Xue Li looked like she was thinking the reason behind Jun Kai's intentions, before acting confused and answered, "Yeah, it was a business trip for my company, why?" She had a straight face when she answered. Her eyes were innocently looking at Jun Kai after she finished her sentence.

On the other hand, Jun Kai's lips hooked up, "Hmm, I was just wondering."

However, beneath the table, Xue Li's hands were shaking involuntarily. She was actually nervous inside but kept everything in. There was no way he could have found out any clues. Nevertheless, she felt something was not right, so once again, she felt the need to change the topic, "Hey, I know it must have been hard on both you and Qing Qing. It is very sad for me too as Fei Ling had been one of my best friends. I was mourning day and night." No matter how nervous she was in front of Jun Kai, her face was always related to the topic of the conversation. When she talked about Fei Ling, her eyes also turned sad.

Hearing her mention his wife's name did not make anything better, "My apologies, Xue Li, I must go now. Enjoy your dinner." Jun Kai got up indifferently and left.

Xue Li couldn't believe her eyes. How could he just leave when they both came in together? She quickly stood up to stop him, "Jun Kai, wait." But it was too late.

Jun Kai was already far from her reach. While his figure slowly disappeared from sight, Xue Li intensely stared at Jun Kai's back with clenched hands. Even when he was no longer there, she still kept her eyes in the same direction. How many times are you going to hurt me!

Once, Jun Kai's shadow disappeared, she beckoned in mid-air irritably. A black figure came out from nowhere. She then spoke, "Did you clear all of my traces when I met Fei Ling a week ago?"

"Yes, young miss. Nothing was left." The man in black answered respectfully. He did not meet eyes with his master when he answered her question.

However, Xue Li was not convinced, "Check out the CCTV cameras once again, before Jun Kai gets to it. Nothing, absolutely nothing should be left." Her eyes were firm as she spoke each word.

The subordinate nod his head, "I will do as you order."

Thinking about Jun Kai, she had recalled something, "Also, what happened to the men you sent to follow Jun Kai?" Her eyes showed some signs of anger in them.

"Uh, replying to miss, they all disappeared. We can't contact them." The man in black could not look at Xue Li in her eyes with the mistake his men had done.

This time, she could not hold it in and raised her voice arrogantly, "Great! They really wasted my money feeding them. This time I want you to find out about the girl who's with Qing Qing. Give me the details within today. You know I don't like to wait."

"Yes, I understand." The figure in black quickly disappeared out of Xue Li's sight, in fear that he would be disappeared from this world entirely if he stayed any longer.

On the other side.

Jun Kai walked out of the restaurant and got into his car. He took out his phone and dialed a number. Once he got through, he opened his mouth, "Lin Cheng, Xue Li had lied about her business trip like I predicted, confirm her exact whereabouts a week ago. Scan through the CCTV cameras of where Fei Ling and Xue Li had been before the explosion. Let's try to recollect Qing Qing's memories." Apparently, Qing Qing had completely forgotten everything that had happened before the crash. However, she was slowly recovering, and she had mentioned meeting up with Xue Li before the crash. This was contradicting to what everyone knew of Xue Li going on a business trip.

"Yes, boss."

After he had done all he wanted, he drove out of the restaurant.

Jun Kai decided to not head straight back to the hospital but went to Z bar instead. He drove with a frightening speed that was matching with his mood which was becoming gloomier as the time flew. Fei Ling's death was becoming more and more mysterious. However, the culprit was still loose and he was not going to leave it likewise.

At the Bar, he ordered his usual drink and drank it like it was water. He would come here to calm himself whenever he fought with his wife or his wife was abroad. Thus, he had bought his own barroom just to drink and nothing else. Jun Kai looked outside the large windows and at the whole city of Seoul. His eyes darkened while simultaneously gripping his cup tighter. Just exactly where should he begin finding the culprit?

On the other side of the city. At a hospital rooftop, there was a silhouette of a young woman standing tall and proud. Her long hair was brushed behind her back along with cold night breeze. Apparently, she was not alone and in front of her was a taller man who had his hands inside the pocket of his white coat.

The young woman was no other than Mi Rong who had come out alone after Qing Qing went to bed. She initially intended to meet Xiao Bai, but the doctor had found her on the rooftop instead. She did not know that she would accidentally come across him at the rooftop, but here he was. As for Xiao Bai, that guy must be hiding somewhere, waiting.

Casually the two spoke together like they were old time friends and not as colleagues. Mi Rong was straightforward and bluntly spoke, "Doctor, I'm surprised to see you here."

The doctor smiled lightly, "Yes, Mi Rong. What about you, feeling bored?" The doctor turned his question to Mi Rong instead.

Talking about being bored, Mi Rong turned her head to the night sky and then back at the doctor, "Hmm, how are you, doctor?" She would always call the doctor just doctor. No one knew his name and everyone ended up calling him just 'doctor'.

The doctor chuckled, "As far as I know, I'm alright, are you?" His eyes were focused on the other person.

"Yeah." Mi Rong smiled slightly.

The doctor's face looked like he recalled something and spoke, "I remembered, we didn't finish with the conversation a week ago before you got injured. Mi Rong, I believe you were going to tell me something." He had some anticipation to Mi Rong's answer.

Mi Rong had remembered that a week ago, on the day of the accident, she had a conversation with the doctor in the morning. She actually nearly slipped her tongue about her special medical treatments from her time to him. "Sorry doctor, I can't recall what I was going to say. I guess it must have been from the accident." She decided to lie as she must keep it a secret. Luckily she got away last time and now she could only help herself.

However, it seemed the doctor was not going to let it go. "Mi Rong, why do I feel like you're lying to me." With this, he slowly stepped closer and closer to Mi Rong.

Although he was spot on, her expression didn't change. Instead, she gave out a big bright smile. Her smile had stopped the doctor in his track, he was only three steps away from her. Her smile was the brightest thing he had ever seen. He had never seen her smile this brightly before as he never really observed her much but since last week he began to notice something about her. Mi Rong's looks made him stunned.

On the other hand, Mi Rong didn't know she gave that kind of expression to the doctor, but she was only trying to fake her lie better. "Doctor, I seriously can't remember a thing."

The rooftop door opened once again. This time it was a nurse who came to fetch the doctor for the scheduled operation. "Mi Rong, I'll go now, but I'll catch up with you later."

"Okay, I'll see you around doctor." Mi Rong waved goodbye to the doctor. However, there might not be any more time to catch up together.

As soon as the doctor left, Xiao Bai came out from hiding. "Mi Rong, you are really good at lying without feeling any guilt."

"My experience and instinct to survive are strong. I'm only trying to avoid anyone doubting my identity. Especially that kind of smart guy, it'll be a nightmare." She rolled her eyes.

Xiao Bai couldn't really do anything with his master, as he knew even with Mi Rong's own parents; she would lie at them without thinking if she had to cover up her mischievous acts "Aiyoo, nevertheless, it already seems he is suspecting something about you."

"Oh." Mi Rong had some thoughts and decided to say, "Xiao Bai, with all the people and fund that we have been collecting over the years, we should be able to start a company of our own and be legally searching for the spell book. I really think it's time we should leave this place. In two days time, we shall set off to Shanghai!" Mi Rong's voice was firm.

"Okay!" Xiao Bai was not hesitant with Mi Rong's decision. He too wanted to change places.

Mi Rong sighed, "Alright, now what have you found about Qing Qing's family?"

"Well, Jun Kai is the son of the Feng family's trading company's CEO. He became a superstar since he was very young. He was a very spoiled rich boy; however, once he got married, people said he had matured and was aloof to the world ever since. He was married to the Shen family's eldest miss, Shen Fei Ling. Her family is one of the top fashion designing company, Shen Fang company along with the Li family's company, Li Fei company. Jun Kai's relationship with his father had never been good and also with his cousin, Feng Min who is the successor to another branch of the Feng's family trading company. His grandparents are the chairman and chairwoman of the whole company, but their sons, Jun Kai's father, and Feng Min's father are the CEO of their two branches."

"Hmm, these people have such good backgrounds, but there's nothing much to envy about. What about the accident?"

"I hacked the CCTV and found that the explosion was ignited by a bullet that was shot at the gas from the bus. The direction of the shot came from this hospital."

"What?" Mi Rong was surprised.

"It doesn't stop here, I looked closer at the bullet and it seemed to have some spells carved onto the bullet. I have saved the screenshots back at home."

"Hmm, it seems they weren't targeting Mrs. Shen or Qing Qing, but it must have been me. Who could put a spell on the bullet without any bad intentions."

This made the two of their faces turned gravely dark. They were being targeted from the dark, but who is the culprit was the question. The two exchanged some more thoughts on what to do, but could only conclude that they must grow stronger and be alert at all times for the time being.

After they had finished, Mi Rong waved goodbye to Xiao Bai and watched it jump over the rooftop. Before Mi Rong could turn around to leave, she was pulled by her waist and fell into someone's embrace.
