2 Loneliness

Saber is a well known acquaintance of Alpha. Both have been to missions and are quite close. In the land of dawn, they are occasionally accompanied by their friends from laboratory 1718.

The sadness from his friend's face is what Alpha always notice. His friend doesn't speak much about it. He understands that it is about the laboratory and about his origins.

While in a journey returning home to Erudito he saw his friend's expression. A sad stare to the setting sun in the horizon. Contemplating on his past experiences.

"Skills are second to none, but the pain still haunts. As if a ghost whisphering to a villain for justice. " Saber said.

Alpha concerned for his friend approached him and said, "There's a reason for things to happen my friend. It is not of your doing, misery is yours. It is something that is passing by.

"Do you remember our first duel?" Saber asked his friend Alpha.

"That was eons ago it was after a mission. It was almost a tie until a professor came and interfered." Alpha replied.

He could feel the loneliness of his friend that lingers. No words of comfort seem enough. He let his friend contemplate his past on the cliff as the sun sets.

Several years ago, they were tasked to a mission ordered from the higher ups of the Laboratory 1718. Their task is to retrieve a piece of relic from a convoy that is heading outside of the country.

It was Alpha, Beta and Saber who were assigned for the mission. After the briefing, the three headed to prepare themselves for the mission and then a beautiful lady appeared. She was one of the well known scientists in the laboratory.

"I apologize for the interruption. There is something I wish you three should try." She said to the three.

Alpha and Beta listened attentively while Saber leaned himself on the wall and crossed his arms, disinterested in the woman's words.

"Am I clear with my instructions Saber? " the lady scientist asked him. Annoyed of his disinterested remarks on her.

Saber left and proceeds to his quarters to prepare his mind. Alpha and Beta excused themselves and went to catch up with Saber.

"It seems like you dislike her. Girls can be pretty but fierce if you annoy them." Beta joked on Saber to lighten up his mood.

Saber replied with a frown on Beta. He was silenced on Saber's expression.

"Beauty fades to ugliness. Hers was not genuine but a heart of cold, dark and as hard as stone." Saber said in reply to Beta's joke.

After their small chat the three went to the mission room as preparations were complete. Alpha along with his twin brother Beta and Saber headed together. They were briefed on the changes of the plan. As Alpha alone was tasked to an assignment alone while Beta and Saber were together.

The three have no choice with the assignment and departed. They arrived miles away from their objective and are to proceed on foot. The convoy seems to have stopped for concealement as they evading day patrols. They have been travelling by night and hid during the day.

"Clever as ever, the Sivanese Liberation Front are taking precautions." Alpha said.

"It's the enemy wake up you dullards!!! Enough sleep for you! A furious sergeant calls upon his men to wake up.

The silence of the night has been broken by the commotion that was heard from the lead of the convoy. The sound of guns and screams from the cut of Saber's blade from his victims resonated.

"How many enemies are there. Where are they coming from? " The Captain hid inside the truck from the confusion outside.

It was a total carnage outside as Saber single-handedly took on an army. Alpha sneaked from behind of the convoy to check on their objectives.

"Fire at will!!!" A soldier shouted.

Alpha has been found by the enemy and was pinned down.

"This is not part of the mission. What on earth are you doing!?" Alpha asked the two via their communications device.

Saber doesn't seem to care while Beta was not responding. Worried of his brother's situation Alpha rushed out hastily ftom his position. Headed to the coordinates where Beta was at.

"Don't let him get away!" His enemies were persistent on their pursuit.

After hours of contemplation, Saber stood up as the darkness of the night envelopes the sky. The two friends were thinking of the same thoughts. The mission to retrieve a relic from a Sivanese convoy was one of their memorable missions.

"Forget about it my friend and let go..." Before Alpha could finish talking Saber left and proceeds to Erudito.

In Saber's hands are a scarf, dogtag and a picture of a child. The event of that mission seems to have left an indelible mark on him. Something that could have triggered a sense of regret on him.
