Chapter 8

-------------------------------------------------------------

Kenn had a few very eventful days.

Let us go back a few weeks. Kenn had been on a slaver's ship. When he had been liberated by a human boy who could go through walls, shoot green energy out of his hands and eyes. Did he forget to mention that the boy who identified himself could kick some slaver butts.

So after liberating the ship, Phantom had disappeared. Everyone had been scared to approach Jack the biotic with a few screw loose so he had been made the impromptu leader of the ship. Everyone had deferred to him on the maintenance and the operation of the ship. Until they could get into citadel space and hail one of the patrols.

From there, he had been placed into 'protective custody'. Please don't forget the sarcasm. They had extensively asked him about Phantom as if he had any clue. He just wanted to complete his pilgrimage and go home.

While in the brig, he had been approached by a Solana Valkarian who began to tell him about the virtues of the Turian fleet. I mean seriously, he had seen enough of those on the ads. She had then taken him on the tour of the entire ship. Introduced him as one of the liberator and the captain who maneuvered the ship back into citadel space. Not a lie but not a truth exactly. He had tried to interject but she had given him a quick kick on the shin and a glare. Kenn from that moment had begun to try and project as much of his displeasure as he could. After a few hours he realized that his expression could not be seen so it was pointless. That caused him to pout.

He had been briefed that the matter of Phantom was top secret and that he was not permitted to talk about it.

On the citadel, he had been present before the entirety of the council.

Most of the representative of the races had also been present.

"It takes great bravery to stand in the line of duty and do what's right." The Asari representative said.

"Seldom it is that all of the council is in agreement, however, this moment calls for it. Your actions were decisive in the liberation of over a thousand people. Out people who had been falsely imprisoned and would have been subjected to a very cruel fate."

'Not only my actions.' Kenn thought to himself.

"This honor is not extended to just anyone. Your deeds demand a worthy level of respect. The Palladium star. A honor among honors. Rewarded to those who performed incredible feats of valor."

Kenn took the award that was floating in front of him. He thanked the council by bowing towards them. He had already been briefed and respectfully put it on himself. He bowed once more but still he kept his silence.

The Turian representative stepped forward once more.

"On the recommendation of Admiral Valkarian and with the full recommendation of Primarach along with the rest of the council. It was decided the the Turian will have its first non-Turian commander. Kenn or should I say Vice-admiral Kenn. You are directly placed under Admiral Valkarian. May the spirits watch over you."

This was accompanied with a commotion within the council chambers.

During the commotion, Solona dragged out Kenn from the chamber.

Some time passed for Kenn to mentally process all this.

"What the fuck". Kenn thought to himself.

It took him a moment to realize this.

"Did I say that out loud." Kenn said.

"Yes", Solana said while she had his arm buried within her breasts."Well, vice admiral. There are certain things I need your assistance with."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The council had retired to their chambers. They were having a private meeting.

"So the plans for a United Military Unit made from all the races is in operation." The Turian representative said.

"Yes, so we proceed according to plan. What about the reaction of the Bartarians?" The asari representative looked at the salarian representative.

"They are displeased. They are considering this an attack on their culture. We are expecting a clash between the humans and the bartarians within the skyllian verge soon." He answered.

"That would give us the excuse to throw them out of the species associated with the council. We can declare an embargo on them. In the future, we can take steps to assimilate them."

The council began to discuss other matters.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adrianna received a call on her omni-tool. She left and returned after some time.

"Sorry Kids, I need to leave right now, Works calling." Adrianna sad. "Nessandra can you take care of the trip. Thanks, love you honey." She left without giving a chance for Nessandra to answer.

"By the goddess, she always does this." Nessandra sighed. " We still have some time. Wanna look around."

Danny nodded to her.

Smiling, she started to lead Danny to a building that looked like an arcade.

Pretty soon, she started to explain one of the games to him which was strickingly similar to air hockey. Pretty soon, they had started a match. Danny being pretty unfamiliar to the game began to loose. She took him to several other places where they could play more newer arcade games. For the first time, Danny began to forget everything and just began to have some fun.

But as it happens with most things in Danny's life, this was once more interrupted.

"Ah Nessandra, what is a pureblood like you doing here." A voice called out."Surely, you are not trying to decieve that young fellow with you."

This was cued with the entering with a bully and her entourage of fellow well wishers.

Pretty soon, Danny and Nessandra were surrounded. Danny felt a few hands going through his chest.

"What Nessandra, mommy dearest acting as a match-maker. who did they buy this from, come on let us have a taste?"

"Get away from him." Nessandra began to glow blue. Her visage thrumming with power.

Pretty soon, they were surrounded by security.

"Girls, we don't want any trouble here. Why don't we all take a moment to cool out heads." A scurity guard as shown by her clothes began to try to negotiate.

Danny realizing that Nessandra was about to explode stepped forward and dragged her away.

Slapping the hand of the bully away. "I can take care of myself and don't fucking touch me."

"Hiding behind your toy, Nessandra" Feeling her about to break out of his hold and the power thrumming through her. "Come on Nessandra, they are not worth it." This broke her concentration and Danny managed to drag her away.

Nessandra had her face turned away and was blushing blue.

"So, what was that about." Danny asked her.

"That was Alexius, she used to go to school with me."

Danny nodded but then he once more asked her. "What was that about being pure-blooded. Why did that fact set you off."

"It's an insult. Asari can mate with any species and that usually brings about changes to the off springs, adding to the species. When an asari mates with another asari, nothing is added to the race as a whole and such off-springs are called pure-blooded." She answered him.

Nessandra omnitool began to ring. Turning to Danny, "I think that we are late to the tour. We should hurry up. I will show you where it is."

They both began to run. It took them a few minutes but soon they reached it.

"So, now that we have everyone here. We can begin." A smartly dressed asari stepped forward. "Our Transportation awaits. It will take us a few minutes to reach the start of our journey. Now, please enter the transportation and no pushing."

Danny and Nessandra entered a floating carriage and were settled down.

The tour guide called for attention from the audience. Making sure that sufficient amount of people were paying attention to her, she began to explain.

"From where to start. Hmm, maybe some of out ancient Mythology, and the Athame doctrine. In the beginning, it is believed that Athame who was a goddess of prophecy and fate was the first to descend to us. She was also the Matriarch of the Asari pantheon. She descended with her guides Janiri and Lucen and helped advanced the Asari from their blissful ignorance. Giving them knowledge and teachingthem how to use tools."

The Temple of Athame came into view, the tour guide pointing at it.

"Looking at the Temple of Athame, we can see the influence it had on ancient Asari as a whole. Eventually their religion fell out of practice and the religion Siari came to be popular, according to which all is one and on death one's spiritual energy merges back into greater universal consciousness."

Danny looked at the temple.

The temple itself was a sprawling complex of ancient infrastructure, with intricate carvings and towering columns. Surrounded with various statues of ancient warriors.

"Usually, only significant military or political officials can vist the temple but just for once an exception had been made." The guide explained. "We get off here. Please be careful and stay with the group."
