7 Chapter 7

The final kit finally slid out and I was able to breathe normally again. Lu said, "Great job Birch! You did yowl a lot, but you made my job easier." I looked at my side, and I saw three adorable kits. Jay walked inside and laid down close to me. Lu walked out of the den, and Jay said, "I wish they stayed in your belly longer..."

I sighed and said, "Well at least we get to know them sooner... do you want to name them with me?" Jay looked at the kittens. He pointed at one of the two females and said, "Her name will be Bell." She was white and had yellowish spots on her body like me, but she had a spot on her chest that made her look like she was wearing a bell.

I pointed at the female calico and said, "Her name will be Yuna." Last, but not least, Jay pointed at the male and said, "His name will be Echo." The male had fur like Jay's, but he had a large yellowish spot on the left side of his face and one on his back. Lu came in with Quinn and he gasped. "This is amazing! I didn't know that some males could have kits!"

Lu sighed and said, "I didn't know either. The only ones that must know are the elders, Rudy, King Jet, Birch, Ace, Klaus, and the other leaders." I nodded and said, "Yeah... that's right." I was getting tired, and I slowly passed out.

I woke up to see my kits sleeping peacefully next to my body. Then I saw Jay outside of my den. He was looking at the sky with a determined look. Suddenly, there were shouts of outrage. Jay gasped and then he rushed inside saying, "We're being raided!" I looked back outside, and I saw King Crow and most of his clan, including kits and expecting queens, in the clearing.

Dad came out and shouted, "Leave right now! I will not fight you!" Then King Crow shouted, "What, you scared? Fight us! We'll kidnap your son again!" Then Rudy came out with fury in his eyes, and shouted, "You did what!?" King Crow gasped and said, "K-King Rudy... you're back!" Rudy lashed his tail in anger and said, "What made you decide to kidnap my son, hm Crow?"

King Crow lowered his head and said, "King Jet killed my father, King Night. I simply wanted-" "Revenge?" My mom spat. "Do you think that Jet killed your father? You're out of your mind!" King Crow slowly backed away. When he did, I recognized a couple of kits. Then dad signaled cats to attack.

Some of the Night Cats attacked, but some backed away with King Crow. Then the two kits, Bandit and Smoke, were backed onto a wall by a couple of cats. I told Jay, "Save those kits! Please!" Jay looked at me with a confused look, and then he rushed into the battlefield towards the kits. Luckily, the kits ran away and bumped into him, so Jay picked them up and ran into my den.

Smoke shouted, "Put us down! We're going to-" Then Bandit said, "Look! It's Birch!" Smoke huffed, but he stopped struggling. Jay put them down, and Bandit said, "Woah... you have kits? How is that even possible? That's cool!" Smoke said, "It's because of King Rudy's genes. He gave birth to Birch, and Birch can give birth to other kits."

Bandit said, "Wow you're so smart..." Then there was a moment of silence, until Bandit said, "Can we stay with you?" Jay started coughing, and I was confused. Smoke was as confused as I was, and he said, "We're Cats of the Night, Bandit! We can't stay here!" Then Bandit said, "Well... we don't have anywhere else to go. And we were planning on running away anyway."

There was another moment of silence. Smoke sighed and said, "Fine. We'll stay here, but the others will be back for us once they notice that we're gone." Jay said, "Fine you can stay with us. But you have to live in the forest near the base of the waterfall. No other cats will go there, and I doubt they'll smell you there anyway."

Bandit squeaked, "Thank you so much!" And Smoke said, "Thanks, I guess."
