20 Chapter 20

That's right. Kyle wasn't here the whole time, and he certainly isn't with Lu or in his den. Jay said, "Bandit! Come here!" He instantly rushed over with Smoke close behind. "I need you to find Kyle. He may be a traitor." Bandit said, "Damn. I knew you were going to call me." Smoke said, "You were going to go if anyone else did anyway. Let's go."

Bandit took the lead as they left the clearing to find Kyle. I looked at the sun that has almost completely set, and I asked Jay, "Is it wise to send them out at night?" He said, "Well it's least expected since we only raided camps during the day." I said, "Well I hope you're right. You'd be a fool if you weren't."

I listened for any signs of Kyle. Smoke was trying to sniff him out, but he covered his tracks. Then I heard cats conversing. I signaled Smoke to stop, and I heard the female leader cat say, "You said that they were all weak! Even the male that is told to step back from the fight beat me up!" Then I heard Kyle say, "That's... not right. They are weak!"

Then there was a snarl from another cat that even Smoke could hear. The leader said, "You dare lie to the Great Iris? I was humiliated! Leave my sight, vermin." Kyle said, "It's your loss. You will never have any of the leaders' approval." Then he walked away. I whispered, "He's headed to camp." Smoke said, "We get there first and alert Jay about the news."

We rushed back to camp before Kyle did, but we couldn't find Jay. Smoke said, "We have to tell Birch then!" We found Birch with Lu and the cat that tried to capture or kill us with his group. Smoke said, "Kyle is a traitor! He led these cats right to us!" Lu looked at the cat at her paws, and the cat murmured, "So that's his name. I remember him from the Eclipse. He was so rude, but the boss let him manipulate us."

Birch flattened his ears and said, "I never knew he was so horrible. He seemed so carefree. Then again, he was never here." Lu didn't say a word. She was just looking at her belly. I said, "Wait until he comes back. We need to have a talk with him." I glanced outside, and I saw Kyle sneaking into camp. I sighed and shouted, "Kyle! Lu needs to talk to you!"

He rushed over and said, "Hey what's going on?" Lu instantly left the cat, and scratched Kyle's ear, leaving a tear. She shouted, "How dare you! I could've died if it wasn't for Bandit!" She was attacked by the other cat, and if it weren't for me, she would've had her neck ripped out. Kyle tilted his head, and Birch said, "Stop playing dumb. We know what you did."

He asked, "What did I do?" I sighed, and said, "You told the leader, a.k.a, Iris, that we would be here. After the retreat, she scolded you, and then you said something about the leaders' approval." He said, "Damn your ears." He tried to scratch my ears, but Smoke knocked him away. Lu went up to him and asked, "You don't care about me, do you?"

Kyle flattened his ears and looked down. He said, "No, I don't. I only stayed to be close to... to my precious little Yuna." We all stared at him his disgust. "Pedophile!" I shouted. Yuna is so much younger than Kyle. There's still a clear difference. Kyle said, "Say what you want about me. I'm also here for the kits in Lu's belly."

Lu lost it. She tore his other ear and went into her den. She went back out holding something. She said, "This is a forbidden medicine plant. Do you want to know what it does?" Kyle stayed quiet. Then Lu said, "It causes cats to have miscarriages! And I'm going to eat it in your face!" Kyle lunged up, but Jay came out of nowhere and pinned him down.

Birch asked Lu, "Do you really want to do this?" This made Lu stop. She glanced down at her belly, and sadly said, "One of them doesn't get a chance to live. I felt it." Kyle looked up at her, and Lu shut her eyes saying, "Kyle. I'm not going to kill these kits. But they're mine. Sure, without you they won't exist, but without me, they won't be able to live."

Then Echo and Bell came over, and Echo asked, "What's going on?" Jay said, "Get back! He's not one of us." Kyle looked for Yuna, and Lu yowled, and scratched Kyle's right eye. Jay let Kyle stand up, but Lu knocked him back down and tore some of the fur on his back off. Kyle screamed in pain, and Lu just walked back into the den with the other cat.

Birch walked over to Echo and Bell, and he explained what was happening. Bell looked at Kyle with the most hostile expression I've seen on her. Echo just looked disgusted, and they were now against Kyle. Birch went to check on Yuna, but before he got there, Kyle rushed to the den and attacked Lu. He pinned her down, but Smoke and I quickly got him off.

We dragged him out of the clearing, and Smoke said, "Do that again, and you'll be blind for the rest of your days." Kyle growled, "You will never be safe. I will have my beloved in my paws again." I got really mad because Yuna likes Smoke, so I pinned him down and bit his neck as a warning. I whispered so Smoke wouldn't hear, "Yuna belongs to Smoke you gross bastard. Get out of my sight."

Kyle gazed up at me in fear. In his eyes, I saw mine. Wild and angry. I let him go, and he scrambled away. Smoke asked, "Hey, what was that? He was done." I spit out the bloody chunk of fur in my mouth, and I said, "I just wanted to give him a message."
