She stood at Miss Helena's office like her world was coming to an end. Her fierce life hasn't been easy, yet the little piece of comfort that she has ever known was coming to an end. She always prayed so hard never to turn 18yrs old in vain, time flies and it waits for no one.

It's not like living there was the best, yet that was all she had ever known and had, it was her home, after spending about 17yrs of her life and more.

She immediately switched out of her deepest thoughts when she heard the noise from the knob of Miss Helena's door, she rapidly stoops up wait for the door to eventually open with her tragic glance fixed on it.

She knew it was her turn because she was the only person perched out waiting for Miss Helena to attained to her.

Miss Helena's office door finally opened.

"Nadia, can you, please, step in!" her voice hit the young Nadia as a strenuous blow on her face, she would have loved to escape from the torture.

The young girl sighed, turned around and walked in the office. The old woman gave her a gentle squeeze on the shoulder as she entered.

Miss Helena was a kind reverent sister; she was the mother superior to all the sisters working in the Saint Maria orphanage which she has been running since before Nadia arrived.

Nadia's dismal gazes followed the woman as she took her seat behind her desk, with her glasses swinging on the chain around her neck. Nadia couldn't help but discretely giggles at the woman's drowsy appearance, she looked like an old Mae in her 70s especially with her large robe and headscarf meanwhile she was just in her early 50s.

"As you know, Nadia, you have to leave the orphanage in just a week!" her words wiped the smile on the young girl's face and bestowed apathetic one. The young girl, could still recalled when Mrs Helena called her ten months ago to announce the same painful news, now it's just a week left. She couldn't stop asking herself when all the time she thought that she had expired! "How is your search for job and apartment going? have you found anything yet?"

"No!" the young girl nodded with her shoulder heavily slumped "no one wants to give a chance to a young girl with no work history regardless of my situation and worse because of my situation. I'm an orphan with no family so no one dare trust me!" she whimpered

"Oh!" the old woman eyes slumped as she leaned back on her chair confused "so what are you going to do now? You know the orphanage has rules and I can't keep you her even if I wanted to"

"Yes! I know!" Nadia lowered her head in suffering, she didn't want to show how disparate she was to the old woman because it was useless since she had no authority to change the orphanage rules for her. She knew that this was only going to cause more pains to the old woman who had done nothing but always done her best to protect her since the day that she was brought to the orphanage but this time around there was nothing else the old woman could do apart from throwing her to the dangerous streets.

...

Nadia was three yrs old when Miss Helena found her in the forest on her way back to the orphanage after her midnight runs which she always organised once a week.

On her way, she saw a baby laying on the ground half dead, bleeding this thwarted her, she shifted back into her human form to get a clear view. She picked the baby who could barely breath up in her arms then she strolled naked until she arrived where she had kept her clothes before shifting into her wolf. She rapidly plop them on and she ran with the baby to the orphanage to give her some first aid.

When cleaning the baby up, she found out that it was a girl, she noticed two tinny fresh holes on her neck like that of a vampire's bite but she easily couldn't tell since obscure creatures were believed to be in extinction after the great massacre of obscure creatures which happened many years back organised by the government. So for all those years Miss Helena had always believed to be the only obscure creature alive.

However, she kept the young girl's presence in the orphanage secret for some hours because she knew that the baby girl wasn't going to survive the attack and she was right! the reason being that, the baby girl gave up my last breath in the old woman's presence and it made her shade some tears, thou she didn't even know the baby.

The same night, Helena ran back where she found the baby girl and she buried the baby at the same spot before anyone else could notice it.

The next day morning, when Miss Helena had prayed all night for the repose of the baby's soul, sister delphine was passing in the forest that very morning to get some woods for the chimney, she heard so baby wail in the forest, this frightened her as she thought of those horrific tales yet she could help but followed the persisting sound of a baby weeping. She followed the sound until she found a baby buried alive in the ground with her feet shooting out as they were helplessly twirling out for help. She quickly dug the ground with her bare hands and shoved off the baby from the hole. She ran back to their mother superior's office, which was in the orphanage.

"Mother! Mother! Mother! A baby! A baby! I found a baby" she barged into the an office without knocking with the dirty baby in her arms, panting like a horse which had rode several kilometres nonstop. Luckily for her Miss Helene was alone in her office.

Helen immediately stood up, ready to yell at the stupid young sister who just barged in without knock yet once she notices the baby covered with mud in Delphine's arms, she remained quiet. She calmly walked to Delphine shivering with the baby in her arms.

Helena, checks the bite on baby's nick just to clarify whether it was the same baby or not. She saw the two-dot bite but this time around they were cured only scares were left, the old woman marvelled, yet she kept her statement to herself and acted back like nothing was wrong

"Where did you find her?" Miss Helena inquired.

"towards the fifth tree stump found at the northeast of the forest, she was buried alive, mother! someone buried a baby alive!" Delphine couldn't help it anymore but cry in anguish and horrified at people's wickedness up to the point of burring a baby alive. However, that is how she perceived it.

Helena felt pity for the young lady "It's fine!" she tapped Delphine's shoulders, Delphine was just a young sister of 20yrs old, newbie to the orphanage and she loved babies "Now, you're the private keeper of this child, only you have the right to carry, clean, feed her, so she is like your baby. Also! any abnormalities you notice on her you only report it to me, only me! and no one else!. Have I made myself clear?"

"Yes! Mother! thank you, mother!" she answered with her trembling but pleased voice.

"Good! go and clean her now, I will get back to you shortly!" with that said she left.

......

"It's fine Nadia, you can leave, I will get back to you!" Miss Helena told the young girl seated office.

"Thank Mother!" Nadia nodded her head with that she left her office
