18 Attack on the Marriage

So after so much preparations the wedding day finally arrived.

Almost the whole city was decorated in red lanterns. The Palace was well lit and was so busy and Joyce.After a full day of completing rituals,A banquet was held hosted by the emporer himself.

As the groom entertained the guests, the Princess adorned in a red robe with a matching veil sat in the bridal chamber waiting accompanied by her good friend, sister Aira.But also noticed Aira's troubled expression.

"Sister Aira what troubles you?"questioned Huwanuwei.

Aira shook her head gesturing its nothing.

"Whats wrong?whats there you can't tell me?"she smiled and scratched her head embarresed and replied.

"Its just... since my baby is still small I wanted to return early though I really,really want to accompany you."

Princess widened her eyes and started laughing.

"Of course!!!dont worry about me. I'm not a baby. You should go home soon.You are needed there.I won't think anything bad. After all you and brother Chan helped me a lot. Did this simple thing make me you look so troubled. Brother Chan won't be angry at you for leaving me. Afterall he is the child's father!!"

She smiled and again looked troubled.

"Thats the problem here.As I know of him even if the child is left all alone at home, he wants his sworn sister to be accompanied.Whatmore the child is under my younger sister's care.But he is the one who demanded me to go back home as soon as the bride enters the Chambers. When I send that I wanted to stay a bit longer he got furious....saying the child is still too small to left on other's hands."

Huwauwei:

I was shocked to here Brother Chan's words for a moment cause I myself know how well he treats me. But I couldnt express my confusion.

"Sister Aira you don't have to think too much. Its my brother's first time being a father and he is a person who has lacked his father's love. He might won't to give the child the best!so don't worry. Now hurry up!!!" I dragged her up from the seat and pushed her towards the door."

Getting out of her stuper she shook her head smilling."Okay then. Ill leave.Enjoy the NIGHT!!!" She winked at me and left giggling.

Things didn't seem right.

"Some one out there come in!" I called one of my most trusted maids.

"Princess,"

"Go to the commander and tell him to be careful and also inform the head guard to be on alert."

She left after bowing.

Not long after I do not know how my idiotic emporer brother dressed in civilian clothes along with the Crown prince snuck in to my room followed by the helpless empress sister. But I felt actually glad about it as I felt a bit less nervous .

However as time went by with joyous discussions, their was no message back and the unease supressed within me grew.

Commander Ming Zheng:

Cup by cup I downed the vine under  everyone's best wishes.

Giving lame excuses even the emporer left the banquet soon followed by the other royal members.Im pretty sure that sister con would give me a hard time tonight.

Although I was also impatient to got my  Princess.. no my WIFE..I had to first entertain the guests.

As soon as the emporer departed most of the ministers also rushed out. Though its a bit unusual they are the ones who are dissatisfied with us.Apart from that its not them I had to entertain but the loyal ones. However the peace of mind hallucinated broke with a single message brought by my Wife's personal maid.

"Commander, the Princess asked to be vigilant about the security." She bowed and soon left.

No more words were needed, I myself started to feel the abnormality.

All the guards around the hall seems to be the most trusted.Though it sounded good, the duties shouldn't be distributed so.

In no time the sounds of sword clashing  was heard from the residence entrance as a blood bathed guard came rushing into the hall crashed to the floor with his last breath.

The left out crowd started screaming and running.

"All the guests stay in the hall and all the soldiers follow me!"

I unsheathed my sword and rushed out with my men. I can't let the intruders get to my wife. I can only hope her to be safe as our room was specially designed by herself.

Huwanuwei:

A small sent of blood wafted in the air as it was also too silent.knowingly brother and I both looked at each other.Even the empress nodded. I couldn't wait any longer for the messengers.

"Brother emporer stay here i will come back soon."I wanted to rush out as soon as possible.

"What are you talking about.Ill go out and check.Im your elder brother!"I shook my head hopelessly.

"Brother then give me a hug." I said spreading my arms.

He looked strangely at me but came closer.As soon as he neared I strucked at his neck making him unconscious.

"Sister empress take care of brother and the little Crown prince.Get to the secret chamber under my bed."

Though the empress looked reluctant we both knew the seriousness of the situation.

As soon as they settled I rushed out.As expected no one was left in the vicinity.

But as I jogged further through the shortcut towards the mainhall clashes of swords were heard making my heart jump.

Swoosh...

A group of people in black up to 20 surrounded me with swords.I was too nervous as I didn't notice them before.But I smirked as I calmed my mind.I lit up the emergency signal without any more delay and grabbed the sword from the nearest man and rushed towards the others.slashing them and knocking them out.

As soon as I've done with them another group of people surrounded along with dozen archers.

"Stop!"a man in black obviously their leader came through the path created by the men.

He stood in front of me.His familiar breath shocked me,but not too much either.

"Brother Chan...why?"I asked a bit complicated.

He removed his face mask and smiled.

But he looked desperate as well as confused.

He sighed.

"Since I was ten this is all what I wanted. My mother was left to die by my father when the previous king punished her whole family was executed for false reasons,telling they are traitors of the nation. The family of loyal generals were just killed like that because they tried to help your mother,my aunt.

Wasn't your mother was chased by your emporer brother's mother?I wanted that royal family dead to make my family rest in peace!

Sister you are truly my cousine...please understand me.I want you to be safe.So come with me.Okay?"

He sighed again obviously noticing me being stupid."Here,this is the evidence and of that time."he gave me letter.

I was flabbergasted by the information.

In the letter it was clearly written how my mother was accused for trying to poison the emporer but was later cleared by the emporer himself saying it wasn't her but her maid under her family's instructions and was held in account and executed.But the following were the evidence given by the maids and guards of the previous empress planning the whole situation.

I thought the things at my mothers time was harem problems and since the emporer brother's mother was already dead I didnt investigate more specially because I craved for my true family at the time.But now.....

No, still I stand by my brother no matter what. He's my brother and he is not responsible for any of this!

But still....

"Brother Chan then what about your father?"

"Smart!I knew you would notice.

At first I wanted to use my father's hand who craved power to take revenge..but that evil man raised another family gave everything left by my mother to them.You are right,it was me who first tried to kill them,but who knew the two kids were lucky that they could escape my plan.However after consideration I thought since its fate and they kind of looked good and is under your supervision,I let them live.

But that man got scared that they will reveal his secrets and tried to kill them,it was then I thought of desposing my cheap father. So now will you come with me?or else I'll have to take you by fo..."suddenly I was pushed roughly by him.

"Brother Chan?"I saw an arrow passing through his chest. I rushed back to hold his falling body.All the other men surrounded us in defence of the archers as the one who shot was killed.

"Brother why did you push me?"I broke the arrow and tried to treat it and noticed that it was poisened i didnt even have needles to control the poison.I could only slow the spreading a little by blocking his acupuncture points.

He smiled.He looked self mocking.

"Of course you are my sister. I know I'm wrong but thought this will bring peace to my dead family.But now...I now really want to be selfish...we both know we are too late to save me.you are great but the poison is also unknown to you isn't it. I specifically found it because of that reason....so you can't save others."

Cough..cough..he vomited a mouthful of black blood.

"Please don't speak...why do you have to do this?You know how important all of youll are to me.Wait here ill look for medicine..."I tried to lay him on the floor but was stopped by him.

Cough...cough..

"Please...listen to me.I didnt think they dare to disobey me and try to harm you.Now I feel so selfish that the only thing I want is to is protect you,my beautiful wife and my child.what revenge?"

Cough...cough...

"Wanyu..." he called out.

"Yes, leader!"a man with tearful eyes squatted next to us.

"From now on...follow my sister...help her to protect the people she love!And make sure those who tried to harm her dead!"a ruthless light flashed across his eyes.

"Yes leader."he bowed firmly.

"Brother!!!!you are my loved one too" I felt something wet slide across my cheeks...it was after a long time afterall.

He smiled again lovingly.

"Im happy to hear it younger sister...."his voice trailed off with his last breath.

For few seconds I felt blank.The sword clashes echoed in my head.

"Princess we have to move on!" Wanyu reminded.

"Take the brother Chan's body to his home...and the rest follow me!"

I looked at brother Chan for the last time and advanced to the front.
