8 Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Morning came after that initial event, and that very morning, Chiron told something to me, Annabeth, and Luke.

He informed us about something that was stolen and must be returned before the summer solstice, or else dire things will happen.

I didn't quite get his point whatsoever, but it seemed to have something to do with the guy we brought here last night.

We gave the guy about three days of rest, and Annabeth constantly fed him this weird holy potion or something called Nectar.

After three days, the guy finally woke up from his princess slumber, and Annabeth, Luke, the useless goat, and I gathered around his bed as if we were about to interrogate him.

The first one to speak was Annabeth:

"What will happen after the Summer Solstice?" She asked, but the latter only gave her a confused look.

"A what now?"

"What's going on? What was stolen? We've only got a few weeks?" She bombarded, but Luke intervened.

"Well, Annabeth, as much as I want to know what is happening too, the poor guy seems as confused as we are, so I think he doesn't know what's going on either."

"We should let him rest more," I said.

All of us nodded, and the poor guy returned to his slumber.

We waited for another day for the poor guy, Percy, as Grover said his name was.

Grover visited him while Annabeth and I talked to each other.

"So that's Mr. D, huh? The Camp Director," I asked Annabeth, pointing at the man with a red face who seemed intoxicated with wine, wearing a tiger pattern shirt while shuffling cards next to Chiron.

When I pointed my finger at him, he looked at me and glared, and I saw a purple hell in his eyes that immediately brought fear inside me. But when he removed his gaze, the fear disappeared.

"Yes, but I advise you not to do that again," Annabeth warned.

"Thanks for the advice, but I wouldn't have needed it after experiencing that," I jokingly said.

Percy approached Chiron and Mr. D, and from their talk, Percy's eyes widened in shock at the truth of the world - gods and myths do exist.

He experienced the same shock as mine, but our reactions differed. I had already experienced the other side of this world, so the only thing that shocked me was the fact that gods are real and I'm half one.

What Percy experienced, however, was an entire existential shock that made him question everything.

"Quite the shock, huh?" I approached Percy, offering him a piece of candy.

"Yeah, very much so. I guess you were too at first, right?" Percy grabbed the candy I gave him and thanked me.

"I was too, but the more you know, the less you get shocked."

"Ha? I thought you just got here the same day as me. Why do you sound like you've experienced it a lot?"

"Well, to answer that, my little ignorant friend, this is not my first time encountering something mystical."

"Unlike you, who just recently discovered monsters, I have been fighting them for as long as I can remember."

When I mentioned fighting a monster, a sad glimmer momentarily appeared in Percy's eye, reminding him of his loss from the minotaur.

But the sad glimmer disappeared and was replaced by a curious gaze.

"So you have been fighting monsters for a long time?"

"Yup, and not to brag, but my body count is in the four digits," I bragged.

"That minotaur would've been just child's play for me." When Percy heard this, he was amazed to think someone his age was capable of doing something so awesome. It was truly mind-blowing for him.

"Anyway, enough about me. Any more of my awesomeness would be too much for you," I said with a smirk.

After about a week at camp, I was getting used to it. In fact, I was even starting to enjoy it.

The food was great, there was no shortage of fun activities, and, most of all (though I didn't tell anyone), there was a feast for the eyes.

You might wonder what feast I'm talking about. Well, you see, I have been discreetly observing our dear Aphrodite Cabin.

Let me tell you this, all of them are freaking hot. Though I only spy (aka peek) on the girls, there are male campers too from that cabin. I'm not gay.

"Gather around, campers!" A loud shout echoed throughout the camp, followed by a deafening bell.

Knowing it was a summon, I headed to the arena where all the campers had already assembled.

"Good day, my dear campers! I hope you're all enjoying your summer," Chiron addressed us.

"Today, we are going to play one of the best games of our camp, Capture the Flag!"

"For today's two opposing teams, we will have Hermes Cabin allied with Athena Cabin vs. Ares Cabin allied with Hephaestus Cabin!"

"Get your armors ready! We begin after an hour!"
