Chapter 19

Chapter 19: Betrayal on All Sides

Marcus found himself surrounded by the entire camp, an onslaught from all directions. The Apollo Cabin's Demi-gods rained arrows upon him, the Hephaestus Cabin's campers hurled bizarre machineries, the Ares cabin charged at him like angry bulls, and the Hermes Cabin approached like a formidable army.

"So this is where it all comes," Marcus sighed, realizing there was no escape.

Just moments ago, he had tried to salvage the situation, but now he steeled himself for a fight. If they pointed their weapons at him, he would do the same. No holding back now. If he saw them earlier as his fellow demi-god allies then now he saw all of them as his enemy.

"Then fucking bring it on!" Marcus shouted defiantly. He first faced the Ares Cabin head-on, where Clarrisse brandished her electric spear.

"Hiyah!" She cried out, thrusting her weapon at Marcus, but he swiftly grabbed it, pulling her closer before delivering a powerful punch to her face.

In that moment, Marcus saw everyone in the camp as his enemy. They were no longer the friends he had been with just an hour ago, nor were they his fellow campers or kin. They were now his prey. And if there was one rule Marcus lived by, it was to never show mercy to his enemies.

"RAAAAAAAHHH!" Marcus let out a primal scream, generating strands of lightning that electrocuted those who were unfortunate enough to be in proximity.

With a surge of lightning, dozens of Ares campers were eliminated from the battle. However, even with their numbers reduced, the fight raged on as arrows continued to rain down from above. Marcus responded by raising his hands, summoning lightning that traveled through the air, disintegrating each arrow it touched.

He then turned his attention to the Apollo children, the source of the arrows, and punched the ground, sending electric currents through the earth, that coiled around like a snake and eventually it arrived in front of them and struck them rendering them unconscious.

Marcus's eyes glowed blue with crackling electricity, his body transformed into a human lightning rod, radiating raw power. He was looking like a God of Thunder descended on earth.

He scanned the battlefield, and his gaze locked onto the Hermes Children. But before he could advance, he was suddenly immobilized by a strange machine that wrapped around his legs.

"Tsk! You and your weird toys, Beckendorf," Marcus muttered, eyeing the camper from the Hephaestus Cabin.

Although the machine was intricate and could hold down an elephant, (he knows since Beckendorf likes to brag about it to him) Marcus unleashed an electric-powered punch, easily destroying it. He then aimed his index finger at Beckendorf, shooting a bolt of lightning that hit the camper's legs, leaving a small smoking hole. Beckendorf's agonizing scream sent shivers through everyone watching who was unfortunate enough to see it.

"That's the price for tying my legs," Marcus declared coldly, moving on to confront the others. His next target was Luke, whom he sought amidst the chaos, his anger simmering at the thought of how Luke had disrupted his life. He didn't want to get caught up with all of this bullshit, yes he likes to fight, and yes sometimes he like a bit of chaos but this was different.

Luke destroyed his normal life (atleast what he consider normal) and he was fucking furious about it.

"Luke! Where are you? Show yourself, you conniving coward!" Marcus bellowed, his frustration mounting.

Suddenly, roots emerged from the ground, entangling his feet once more. Annoyed, Marcus effortlessly broke free from their grasp making the one who cast them gasped at how effortlessly Marcus escaped their entanglement.

"What is it with all of you and my feet?" he retorted before locating the satyrs responsible for the woodland magic. Among them, he noticed Jenus, looking pained, and Grover, visibly nervous.

As Marcus focused on them, the satyrs took out their flutes and played a hypnotic melody in unison, attempting to lull him to sleep. However, his crackling lightning neutralized their magic, angry at their attemps Marcus pointed at them with his palm open and released a pillar of lightning that struck all of them leaving them spasming on the ground.

"GROVER!" Percy's familiar shout reached his ears, and Marcus watched as Percy rushed to Grover's side, kneeling down to check on his condition. Relief washed over Percy when he found Grover alive, but injured. Then, Percy turned his attention to Marcus, demanding answers.

"Why are you doing this!?" Percy shouted.

Marcus shot Percy a look and said, "Are you seriously asking me that question?"

"Look Percy, everyone in this camp is trying to apprehend me and make me pay for the crime I didn't commit," Marcus responded angrily, striking down a camper who had dared to attack him during his monologue.

"What do you think will they do after they got their hands on me? My father would kill me, the goda would punish me, I would be sent to answer a crime I didn't fucking commit just because of the blonde cock sucker," Marcus gritted his teeth, his anger resurging.

His attention then shifted to Annabeth, who rushed to Percy's side with her spear pointed at him. Seeing her ready to fight hurt Marcus deeply.

Just this week, he and Annabeth had been talking and laughing, and she had opened up to him about her story, about her, Luke, Grover, and this one named Thalia and their perilous journey towards the camp. Marcus knew that Annabeth gained a crush on him, he had felt a connection, and he was prepared to reciprocate her feelings after some time. But now, seeing her wield her weapon against him, it pained him to the core. He didn't want to harm her because of his own conflicted emotions, but he had to remind himself that Annabeth was now his enemy.

Fists clenched, he prepared to confront both Percy and Annabeth, he was ready to strike both of them down with lightnjng but then suddenly he heard whistling sound that caught his attention. He swiftly grabbed an arrow that sailed past his head and turned to see Chiron, bow in hand, aiming at him.

"Young Marcus, stop this now," Chiron implored, the weight of his words carrying the wisdom of ages.
