chapter 21-Tis But A Scratch

Once she left I put my focus on torpedoing out of the river.

Walking out to see news cars, emergency vehicles, and helicopters everywhere was annoying. It would be hard to get out.

I made sure to hide behind whatever I could so that those who made it out wouldn't recognize me. It's probably suspicious of me to do this but still.

A little girl almost saw me walk out of the water earlier so I think I'm doing good in the whole don't be a noticeable thing.

The reporters on the scene kept talking about me through my search for Annabeth and Grover.

I eventually found them hidden in the background. I grabbed them by the shoulder which ended up with me on the floor. Annabeth judo threw me. I landed on my feet.

What surprised me was that my spider sense didn't go off. I think it's because she is a close ally. So my spider-sense didn't work on her. That is complete bullshit. How can my Spider-sense not work on her?

"Di immortales Percy, what were thinking I could have hurt you." It seems she hasn't fully realized that I'm here.

"Annabeth, he's right here," he then put more attention on my body "Oh my gods, you're bleeding! What happened up there, Percy?" Asked Grover.

"So you know that lady with a chihuahua, yeah that was Echidna."

"That's only part one Percy, we need to know what else happened. How are you not wet? What monster did she bring to fight you, or did she fight you herself?" Annabeth asked.

"Monsters, plural. The chimera, which was the chihuahua, and the Nemean lion. I fought them and won. Then she chose to show herself. I crushed the Nemean lion and drowned the chimera. I don't even remember what I did to Echidna, it wasn't very memorable."

"How did you not smell them, Grover?" Asked Annabeth.

"My sense of smell was muddled there, we were underground," said Grover in embarrassment.

I then staggered a little. I looked down at my leg and noticed a deep gash. I don't even know when that happened or which one of them did it.

"Oh I'm sorry, let's get you somewhere where we can deal with your wounds. Grover, you have our medkit in our backpack?"

"With this much danger following us, yes," Grover answered.

I almost argued against this but then thought it through and noticed something, I'm stupid she isn't. She knows what she's doing mostly. I should listen to her.

She dragged me away from all the people to a secluded area. Grover then handed her some disinfectant, which made me feel like I was being burned. Not fun at all, I wouldn't recommend it.

"Stop being such a baby, you dealt with all these cuts why are you wincing now."

"Uh, I always was wincing," I stated.

"Seaweed brain, you don't get to talk right now. I'm mad at you," she said in a huff.

I mean seriously. First I have to talk now I have to stop, make up your mind.

"Take off your shirt," she said. Something that surprised both me and Grover.

"Come on, I need to check your body."

Once I took off my shirt I heard a gasp. I look down and see bruises forming across my body. I looked like a bruised banana.

It seems that being thrown around the place and the hits that the monsters got on me were much worse than I thought.

"Percy, you need a hospital. You have a bunch of broken bones," Annabeth said in a soothing tone.

Before entering the water I can infer that it was much worse than it is now. I probably need a day's rest for my healing factor to deal with this.

Maybe two days. To speed things up I'll stay in the water. Which is something I can't do because of recent events, damn it.

"It's fine, I'll heal up fast," I said.

She got out a bottle with some gold liquid in it.

"Seaweed brain, we have ambrosia. This will heal you and leave you without scarring."

I can't believe I forgot about that. I was so focused on my healing factor I didn't think of outside influence.

She gave me the bottle, told me to take a few sips, and then poured it on top of me, near the more damaged parts. She then got some self-adhesive bandage wraps. Once that was done she got flustered for a moment.

As if when done with being a doctor she noticed I was shirtless. With my amazing genes of mine, well I do think that warrants some attention.

"*ahem*, okay now tell us more about how you beat them," Annabeth said.

I then spent the time explaining everything.

Once I was done telling the whole battle. Grover then said something that got my attention.

"You're like a modern-day Heracles."

I… that hurt me to my very core. Being a modern-day Hercules in this world isn't something I consider to be proud of. Not after the crimes he committed. Now if this was Hercules: The Legendary Journeys then I would accept that.

"You should be proud, Percy. You dealt with monsters that Heracles fought at the age of twelve," said Annabeth.

Fuck, I feel old. I may be twelve but I feel like I've been here for years.

"I don't know if being like Heracles is something to be proud of. I mean he's all brawn and no brain."

Damn, that's me.

"I know that I'm only saying you should be proud of beating them at your age," said Annabeth.

"We should get out of here before things get even more chaotic, or worse we get caught," said Grover.

I stood up with the help of Annabeth, even if I didn't need it. We were somehow not spotted by the news vans or even the police. That's a good thing because somehow, again, someone got my picture.

"Percy Jackson is considered to be the known perpetrator who caused this destruction. That's right folks a twelve-year-old boy did this. He also caused an accident in a New Jersey bus. Here is a picture for the viewers."

That made us start walking faster. We were able to get to the Amtrak just before it departed.

The annoying part was having my wounds open. I'll be taking that nap now.
