Chapter 18

Walking down the corridor that had opened up, Argen reprimanded himself. Like an idiot, he had forgotten his bow, not only that but his earlier bravery had all but disappeared as many ways opened causing him to start to feel dear in his chest at what was to come.

"That was a stupid thing to do..." Argen said as he stopped and knelt down holding his head. Sighing he got up and continued forward. It was already too late to back down, all he could do was continue... and hopefully find the strength and courage to get out of here alive.

With the object, of course, he could already see where his Silver path wanted him to be, with the shadowy man, and the depressed-looking woman. They were waiting for him, how they knew he would come here specifically he had no idea, but he guessed that walls don't open by themselves.

"Asfalis..." Argen said as the silver glowing wolf illuminated the darker growing hall. With his wolf by his side, Argen felt he didn't have much to fear... although he did feel something else... anger. He knew the mother of the pale lady was this woman, as well as the reason the pale lady had come by them in the first place.

This meant that this woman was also responsible for hurting Megan... something he wouldn't forgive. Argen didn't know it yet, but he was ready to kill both of these people, and subconsciously he exuded anger that would make even the gods of anger and hatred themselves sweat, not that he knew.

"Asfalis... Is it just me" Argen started to say as the tunnels, though subtly, shifted. Just as Argen thought, the lines kept changing along with him feeling they had been walking too long. It seemed it wouldn't be as easy as he thought to get to them.

Before Argen could begin moving again he was pushed from behind by asfalis, who had sensed a trap. 2 arrows shot out where Argen was and hit the wall next to him, causing Argen to widen his eyes as he realized there was more danger than he first thought.

Argen jumped up as he searched for more traps, his hunting sight(Gonna call it this from now on) Moved as well, finding a trap activating and shooting a poisonous dart straight toward him, causing him to jump to the side.

"Asfalis Destroy..." Argen started to say as he searched for a way out, there was no possible way he could do this alone, he needed his companions. "That wall!" Argen said quickly as the tunnels shifted and asfalis, without hesitation, ran up and burst through the wall, allowing them to jump out into a small port.

As Argen swam away from the wall and climbed onto one of the walking spaces in the dock, Asfalis turned back into his usual spirit form and attached himself to Argen, giving him a small boost in power in order to help him regain his energy from swimming and almost having a heart attack.

An hour later Argen found himself back in the hotel they were all staying in, dry after walking around all day. "How was your... excursion?" Lee said seeing Argen walk in.

Argen looked up and nodded, not noticing anything was different until he took a closer look and saw Lee looked rather pale, yet Megan was sitting up in the bed, fully conscious for the first time since The Pale Lady incident.

"Megan!?" Argen yelled in surprise as he jumped back as if he had seen a ghost.

"Run Argen! before it's too late!" Lee suddenly yelled out as he looked over at Megan in terror.

"Argen! I'm glad you're okay!" Megan said as she started standing up. Lee and Argen cowered in the corner looking at Megan who had a kind smile on her face.

"Back vile witch! what have you done with Megan! She'd never smile and say something like that" Argen said pulling out his knife swinging it as the girl stepped closer and closer.

"This is scarier than this entire quest..." Lee whispered as he grabbed Argen's bow and pointed it at Megan as well.

"What are you guys talking about? we're friends?" Megan said smiling sweetly as both Lee and Argen looked at her in shock and disgust.

"That's not Megan... she'd never admit to being friends with either of us...." Argen said as Lee nodded and both of them backed up into the corner of the room, seeing the smiling girl still standing there.

"Really guys? I'm being nice and you are both being assholes!" Megan suddenly yelled out as her brow twitched. She'd been semi-conscious during her recovery so she knew they were both worried for her, so she decided to be nice for once. Though she would have never done so if she knew this would be their reaction.

"Oh, Megan" Immediately Lee and Argen let their hands drop as they looked at her normally. After the little outburst, they knew that the imposter was gone and good old Megan was back.

"Damn bastards" Megan started cursing at them in ancient Greek and English as they stood still, prey to her insults...

...

"Are you an idiot?!" Megan said as Lee looked at Argen in shock hearing he had tried to go and get the items they were supposed to retrieve by himself.

"That was pretty stupid..." Lee said nodding his head agreeing with Megan on this one.

"I had Aslfalis, I was fine... just got caught off guard... but I think I'll need you guys..." Argen admitted as he sat and bit into a small pizza that they made around the corner.

It wasn't very good, but it did the job of keeping him alive so he didn't complain.

"So... when should we go?" Megan finally finished her string of insults and asked Argen as he looked up surprised before catching himself.

"As soon as you are fully recovered... So a few more days should be fine... Lee did a good job patching you up but that doesn't mean much when you are gonna just go and fight again..."

Hearing Argens words Lee nodded and brought out the first aid kit, it was time to replace her bandages.

Megan was healing herself as well, though it was slow, it was enough to keep herself alive and slowly heal the hole that had just missed her stomach.

If it was only a few inches lower or to the right she would have died. She already knew that, and that's why she was so thankful to be alive at this time.

"Fine... as soon as I'm healed we'll go and finish this quest... it's almost the summer solstice... wonder what's happening at camp" Megan whispered the last part to herself as she lied down and let Lee bandage her up as she used magic to slowly heal the wound.

Argen nodded and smiled at this as he dusted his hands off and walked out of the apartment room to go do his daily moon watching.

The moon felt safe, almost as if he knew it...

"Don't move" A voice sounded in his ear as he reached the rooftop and looked up at the moon.

Behind him was a 12-year-old looking girl pointing a silver bow toward the back of his neck...

"M-Mother?" Argen said as he felt that this was the same presence that sometimes watched him and also felt familiar to the moons feel...
