13 Chapter Twelve: First B-Rank

"Are you sure sir? You've only been a member for 5 days, and while you haven't failed one I don't want to lose such a aspiring hunter." The desk lady, Laura was her name, say as I nod, it took me 5 days but I finally got to B ranks.

"Okay then, good luck sir." She said as I nod, I walked out of the building before pulling out my compass along with my compass. I will need to proceed with caution for this one, I like my mission record of 100%.

The mission I choose was to hunt a group a draugr, a undead creature from Norse Mythology. While they're weak to fire magic, my fire magic is only strong enough to light a cigarette at the moment so I'll be using magic and my sword.

Once again I use the Labyrinth to get to the general location, while navigating I remember the legendary item I got from the map quest. The item was good, but I can't use it yet, not before I'm strong enough to handle the draw back.

The title was Navigator, it gave me a 25% to follow the right path when I'm looking for something but I didn't need it when tracking because of the compass. So I had ignored it in favor of the item.

I turn right and see my exit, a small crack in the wall big enough for me to walk out of when sideways. I exit and see my minimap say I'm in Colorado, Denver. I smile at how close I am to the group, around 3 miles if my minimap and compass are right, which they always are.

I use a trick Lou taught me if I need to hijack a car in an emergency and took a civilians car and drove to the group of undead. While driving I had allocated the 10 points I had saved up and put them in Cha like any civilized person would.

When driving I noticed that a car had driven hear recently if the tracks on the ground meant anything. I was driving off road on what looked like it was unused for at least 10 years so I was kinda suspicious.

I put the thought away as I stop the car, getting out I walk west a bit before I come up at a group of dead things raiding a campsite. Oh shit. I ran to the dead things and turned them to dust after swiping at them with my sword.

[For killing 4 Draugr's yo-]

I ignore the box and continue to kill them, when they said a group I wasn't expecting 14 okay? After I killed them as I hear crying. I make my way over as I see a boy crying over a dead body, I also see a pack of wolves with azure eyes glowing.

I quickly grab the boy as fast as possible and beat it, I'm not here to fight whatever those are. I observe the wolf before making a new opening another Labyrinth entrance and am very, very glad I ran.

Dear god thats scary, I might live without the insta Labyrinth card against one, but a whole pack? No, I'd be dead in seconds had I engaged against them. I run through the Labyrinth before coming out of the closest exit, which was Miami for some reason.

I put the depressed kid down, who hadn't even resisted against my kidnapping. I guess he either doesn't care or hasn't noticed what happened. I sigh and get on my knees, getting eye level with him.

"Hey, you're okay now, it's safe." I try to comfort, damn am I bad at this. What would someone do in this situation? I don't know, why the hell do you think I'm asking?

'Hey uh system, can you help me out here?' I mentally ask, dear god am I pathetic, you know what? 'System never mind, I got it, I think.' I really hope this doesn't back fire. Come on Cha, pull me through this train wreak.

"Hey, my names Nathan. What's yours?" I ask as shuffles a bit, before looking at me with sad eyes, "Why are you here?" He asks, does he not remember that I literally kidnapped him and carried his ass all the way to Miami?

"I saved you, I was on a quest and when finished I heard someone crying, turns out it was you. You were surrounded by monsters, dangerous ones at that." I explain as he whips his head at me, as if suprised.

"Y-you saw see them? I-I thought it was some delusion, o-or something." He said as I sit next to him, our backs up against some buildings wall. "Yeah, I've seen them my whole life. What I'm about to tell you can and will make your life worse but at least you know the truth. Do you want it?" I ask as he nods.

"Your a Demi-God, a son of some Norse god. Now before you break out in rage even gods are bounded to laws, and that one of them is to not intervene with mortal lives." I say as he got angry, before settling in resentment.

"How, how do you know what I am? Are you one too?" He asked, hopeful. "Sorry but no, unlike you I'm 100% human, I don't know much about the Norse as I don't see them much so I can't send you to a safe place." I said as he looks lost before turning to me with a pleading face.

"C-can you help me? I don't have anyone left, aside from my uncle. But mom said to stay far, far away from him." He admits, I wonder if he realized he hasn't introduced himself yet.

"I don't know, I can't really trust someone who doesn't tell me their name." I say as he blanches, realizing that he brushed off the question earlier. "S-sorry," He sniffs, "My names Magnus, Magnus Chase." He said as I nod, I knew thanks to observe but I can't just call him by his name out of no where can I?

"Nice to meet you, about your question though, I'm sure I can help you get you on your feet for a bit, maybe help you out before sending you on your way." I say. I'd hate myself if I left a twelve year old Demi-God alone in the wild with no weapon, or anything really.

I stand up and hold out my hand for him to take, "Warning though, if I'm gonna help you, you gotta help me. I'm a monster hunter so I'm gonna be occupied with missions while your alone unless you join me. Though your a bit weak at the moment I'm sure Daedalus can help you out." I say as he took it, thanking me plenty.

"Now, into the Labyrinth!"

"What?!"
