5 Chapter Five: The Field Trip -Part Two

We arrived at the museum after a long ride to the city, with Mr. Brunner led the museum tour. He wheeled his way around the museum giving detailed explanations on each statue and artifact, sometimes his eyes glazing with sadness and regret.

I was walking with Percy and Grover as we neared a statue depicting Kronos eating his children, I noticed that Mr. Brunner has only shown Greek statue's despite being a latin teacher which is from Rome.

This only solidifies my theory that Mr. Brunner and Grover are here to teach and protect Percy without taking his ignorance away, the only loose end here is the other Demi-God. The monster makes sense as it's trying to kill Perce but I haven't seen the girl until today.

My guess is that the girl was either asked to come here by Mr. Brunner or Grover, or came here to tell them of an emergency. I wonder, will Percy be sent to Camp Half-Blood? I remember grabbing my weapons and stashed them in my inventory but I still can't use them without covering the handle with cloth, which messes up my grip.

I breakout of my thoughts as I hear Mr. Brunner ask Percy a question about the statue, with him answering correctly.

"Like we're gonna use this in real life. Like it's gonna be on our job applications, 'Please explain why Kronos ate his kids.'" Nancy whispered, as I see Mr. Brunner pause and look over. Theres no way he heard that far, we're in the back and she's whispering, is he a Satyr too?

"And why, Mr. Jackson," Mr. Brunner said, "to paraphrase Miss Bobofit's excellent question, does this matter in real life?"

"Busted." Grover said.

"Shut up!" Nancy hissed, her face brighter than her hair. I look at Percy who seems to be thinking hard about it when he shrugs.

"I don't know sir." Percy said, as Mr. Brunner looks disappointed. He turns to me.

"Then maybe your senior, Mr. Parker can answer." He said, though it looks like he doesn't expect me to answer it right. I smirk and take the challenge.

"I believe the answer is because each story teaches us a life lesson, how even gods can make mistakes." I say, enjoying the surprised look on his face. He smiles and looks back at Percy, who looks like he still doesn't understand.

"Half credit to you Mr. Jackson, full to you Mr. Parker, both excellent answers." He said, before he called for lunch break and asked for Percy to stay. Me and Grover walk outside to the entrance with the other students and watch the cars drive by while sitting on the fountain.

We chat for while about random things as I see Percy walk out looking even more confused. I wave him over and we enjoy our lunches with me discretely pulling mine out of my inventory. I see Grover sniff and turn to me with eyes wide, looking at my lunch which was still hot.

"Woah! How is it still hot?" He asked as Percy too turned his head and his eyebrows raised, it was nearly a hour drive here and we were inside for around 30 minutes so normally it should be cold. I mentally curse myself for realizing this myself.

"I bought it when I said I was going to the bathroom." I lied as smooth as possible, which Percy looks at me with admiration, and Grover slight suspicion. I see he takes discreet sniff at me as if trying to pick up on something.

"So, whats your plan for the summer?" Percy asked, as I raise an eyebrow. Summer? Thats months away, it's still December for Heavens sake. Seeing my look Percy looks sheepish before he looks at me expectantly, I sigh.

"I don't know, I can't go back to the orphanage so maybe find a job and find and a cheap place to stay." I said, before taking a bite of my hot Mac n' Cheese. Percy's eyes widen before quickly apologizing, with Grover looking even confused then he was when I pulled out my lunch. Does he think I'm a Demi-God? Thats logical aside from the fact I've been here for months.

"It's okay Perce, what're you guys gonna do?" I asked as Percy mentions staying with his mom for the summer. Grover just says he goes to a summer camp for well, summer. I realize that this camp, is Camp Half-Blood. What other camp is there for a Satyr?

I wonder, does this camp accept other Demi-Gods? Is it for a certain Pantheon? So far it seems to be Greek but I don't have any concrete evidence that it's only for Greeks. But if it is then does that mean that other camps exist? Like one for Norse or Egyptian? Or even Shinto?

My musing ended as I see Nancy walk up with a few other kids their age, as if trying to look menacing. I cover my mouth to hide my laughing, though they still heard it. I see Nancy look furious at me, probably because I pointed out her terrible tastebuds.

"You! You mocked me in front of everyone on the bus! Once I get my hands on you I'll-" She says before I cut her off.

"Do what? Hit me? Tell on me for exposing a bully? What will you do Nancy, because I think you forgot you're talking to." I said as she gets more furious, she calms herself surprisingly and ignores me.

I watch as she tries to put something in Grover hair but was knocked away by a tendril of water. Wait water? I turn to see Grover pale, and Percy furious. Before I could say anything I see the Fury come over with a maniacal smile.

I watch as pretends to care about Nancy and was about to talk to Percy before I interrupt.

"Sorry for pushing her Miss, but she was bulling my friends here." I said, as I feel a weird mist surround us. I get a notification but ignore in favor of the situation, I see the other students agreeing and the monster growls lightly at losing her chance.

"Detention for the both of you, Nancy I thought you new better." She says, as I mentally cheer. I'd rather have detention then lose a possible friend. I turn to Grover who looked like someone save his life, Percy not looking to different.

"Dude, you just save me of a month of detention." Percy cheers quietly, though Grover looks at Percy as if he had undermined an achievement, which he did. I see Mr. Brunner in his wheel chair slightly relax, so he was watching too? Wait, wheres the girl?

I look around but I don't see either the girl or the monster. Oh shit. I turn to my friends.

"I have to go to the restroom, be back in a moment." I said, getting up and walking inside. I see a glimpse of movement in the Greek are, I walk in and see the girl and monster standing in front of one another as if it's a stand off.

I quickly form a bow with my magic and knock an arrow before shooting it at the monster, I watch as it looks surprised before it fades to gold dust. I hear a new ping and I look at it.

"You, how do you see me? What was that? What are you?" She says, as I hold my hands up in a placating manner.

"Woah calm down, I'll answer that in a different order. I'm human, I can see through the mist, and I form a bow with magic." I said, as she looks at me like I shouldn't exist.

"Bu-but humans rarely have magic, let alone can see through the amount of mist I was using to stay hidden." She said, as I try to answer answer her questions before I pause.

"Look, we can continue this later. My names Nathan Parker, my dorm number is A-109. Come there when we get back and knock out my friend with magic so we can continue our chat undisturbed." I said, as I walk out of the room back to Percy and Grover.

I try to enjoy the rest of the field trip though it was kinda awkward with the girl glaring at me. We enter the bus as I see the system give me a notification.
