1 An Awkward Start at Yancy's

The day me and Grover met was probably the most awkward day of my life.

It was not because we were strangers(though it did add to it) but because of the way we met and the way I first entered our dorm, let me explain.

I had just arrived at the schools dorm building, looking for my dorm room.

I rounded corner hoping to find my dorm before sundown which was a big problem seeing as the map the staff gave me wasn't exactly designed for Dyslexia induced students, so every word written looked they were doing there best to imitate an alphabet soup.

Again, I rounded a corner only to stop abruptly.

Why?

Because in front me were 3 VERY mean looking jock kids, you know, the stereotypical jock kids that bullies color people and stuck younger students in lockers? Yeah, that kind.

They looked to be about 2 or 3 years older then me, all wearing err- sport jackets? I guess, and jeans, there hair were in a buzz cut of some kind and they look to be board.

I turned around hoping they didn't see me, but of course, thanks to my 'wonderful' luck, they saw me anyway.

"Hey! You a lost newbie?" One of them shouted.

I really did not want to turn around but I figured I wouldn't get that far if I run anyway.

I slowly turn around to face the jock.

"Yeah, I am, but don't mind me! I'll just look around for my dorm, yeah? Yeah" I tried to turn around but one of them had manage to hold my shoulder forcing me stay were I was.

"Woah there! Were do you think your going huh? You haven't even got the annual 'welcome dunk' yet" I gulped, already guessing what ' dunk in the 'welcome dunk' means.

So I did what any sane person would do and booked it.

I (surprisingly) ripped his hand off my shoulder and ran to (hopefully) where my dorm was at.

"Get that brat!" I heard Mr.I-am-a-bully shout behind me.

I turned a conner and saw my dorm room number, I hastily opened the door before going inside and slamming! It close.

I put my back on door and clutched my chest as I tried to calm my breathing.

"Err, Hello?"

I jumped slightly at the voice

I look up to find a awkward looking boy about a few years older than me wearing a red T-shirt, brown baggy shorts, green shoes and a red cap on his head, he had a whisky beard on his chin, he also had one crutch his hand.

He was beside a half made bed looking at me startled as if he didn't expect me to arrive so soon-or maybe because I was sweating bullets and looked like I just ran a marathon

Or maybe because I slammed the door shut as if a monster was chasing me

(Now that I think about it, it was probably all three)

"Who- who are you?" I ask awkwardly, he stepped forward reaching his hand out "Grover Underwood! Your, uh, roommate! Heh"

"Nice to meet you, I'm, Percy Jackson" I replied back while accepting his outstretched hand.

Grover helped me settle in my side of the room despite my protest in not needing help.

Afterwards, when Grover was fast asleep on his side of the room, my stuff was properly put away and I had finished taking shower, I lay on my blue covered bed looking up at the painted ceiling thinking

'This School might not be so bad after all'

It may have been an awkward meeting, and a weird night, but little did I know, the person I just met, my roommate, was actually my future satyr best friend and protector.
