1 What are you like?

Chapter 1: What are you like?

How do waters die?

Have you ever thought what will happen when water stops moving? I can imagine people's tears turn solid then break like glass. I can imagine fishes stuck in time, stagnant and motionless. I can imagine oceans turning black like the dead of the night. What do you think? It's pretty cool and amazing if you ponder on it. For when waters die then there is stillness in the living.

Tell me what you think,

They die with honor.

Yes, I have, if you consider freezing all living forms. It is mysterious and interesting; however, I am doubtful of it ever happening at all. There must be balance for any interaction to occur. It is Karma; what you sow so shall you reap. Dualities permanently exist in this world and there is no escape but the spiritual path. Let me know if you are interested, I have a friend who teaches meditation. For one who seeks the truth shall be enlightened.

Tell me what you think,

Savannah smiled, feeling giddy and excited as she finished reading the letter. She loved their serious conversations even if sometimes, it didn't make sense to her at all. She obviously had too many weird questions and she was glad her penpal didn't give up on her just yet.

"Are you coming?" It was Gab, Savannah's best friend who was more like an older sister. She wore a tight short skirt with floral design and chic white boots.

"What's taking her so long?" Devin, Gab's boyfriend asked impatiently. He honked on his red sports car loudly.

"Be quiet. She'll get here soon. She's fantasizing about her creepy penpal who's probably a pedophilic old fart," Gab sighed and strapped herself in the passenger's seat.

Devin mirrored her sigh and reclined back.

"Coming!" Sav announced excitedly and barged in the back seat ignoring their complaints.

"Done flirting with that old man?" Gab snickered.

"He's not an old man, sheesh. He's a boy my age and so much more intelligent than anyone I know."

"More than me?" Devin asked as he drove past the speeding limit.

No police was around but ever since the mafia Lord took over the government and changed the rules and regulations ten years ago, no police was ever seen again. Only bodyguards and henchmen of mafia bosses overlooked the towns and cities within their jurisdictions and territories to stop any discrepancies and unnecessary brawls.

"Keep dreaming," Savannah answered and sighed as she looked through the car window past the blurring buildings and streets.

It was no wonder the mafia Lord vanquished the speed limit rule first and foremost because gangsters love two things most of all: cars and guns---lots of guns.

Speaking of guns, the curriculum for civilians require them to practice shooting at least once a week so the biggest and probably the loudest gunning range is the Valor.

"Dev, I'd appreciate it if you start practicing on your pistol and not some dumb machine gun. It's very impractical because who would be carrying a machine gun around?" Gab raised her hands in exasperation.

Devin smirked and Sav rolled her eyes for the incoming sick innuendo. "Oh, I'm carrying my machine gun all the time alright. Wanna see it babe?"

"Can you believe this guy?"

"Actually yes but you, I can't believe you. Why would you date such a self-centered guy," Savannah replied frankly.

And thus the bantering began until they arrived at the Valor.

"But seriously Sav, how could you not know anything about what this guy looks like? Haven't you been writing to each other for years?" There was nothing but concern in Gab's voice which got Sav thinking; truly there must be something she knew about H right? Even she was hesitant to answer.

They booked for a private range for three as they were too tired to socialize with the mass. Besides, only the students from the mafia academy are fussed over like some infamous celebrities.

"Let's get this over with," Gab said as she shot the target until she ran out of bullets.

Devin laughed as he chose to shoot with a shotgun.

Sav sighed, picking up her pistol and continuously shot the bullseye. She couldn't think straight but at least her shots were consistent.

"To be honest babe, I could only trust Sav with shooting an apple on my head. You're too unfocused," she heard Gab say to a sulking Devin.

"That felt like a shot to my heart."

"Don't be so dramatic."

Savannah laughed and without waiting another second, she took out her pad and a pen. She would have to break the wall first if she wanted to know. She had to be brave.

Nervously, she began writing.

***

I am a gaming psycho.

I have green eyes that turn blue when I look at the sky, amber hair that turns golden under the sun, and ovary skin that reddens when it gets too hot. I am of 16 years and very much alive and curious. There are things I want to know, some mysterious to me, some not. Most of all though, it is you I'm most curious about.

Hey H, what are you like?
