3 Free things are awesome... right?

It was already over midnight when Ivan decided to sleep. He had been thinking about his circumstances and next steps. He had found enough food in the kitchen to sustain himself for more than a year, so he didn't have to worry about not able to get food. After all, he didn't have money and he was too scared to get a job or steal.

Morning always comes too early. Ivan was woken up by a voice. For a second his head was a mess when he suddenly was scared stiff. There was someone else? He had eaten that person's food and slept in their bed? He had claimed everything as his own while there was actually some powerful master who owned this tower?

A lot of questions raced through Ivan's head. After panicking for a solid five minutes he realised he wasn't feeling any pain nor was there an angry master in front of him.

"It seems Owner has woken up from his pathetic state." An extremely dry and criticizing voice rang out.

"..." Ivan was silent, but the gears in his head were turning. He immediately understood - or hoped - what was happening. He definitely had a cheat or system here! How did he know it wasn't someone else's voice like in all the system novels were the protagonists shout for no reason at all?

That was, of course, because the voice 'felt' similar to the voice you hear while thinking. You could know the difference between what you think and what you say, so why wouldn't Ivan be able to know this was a voice inside his head?

"Who are y-" Without a notice, Ivan's voice had vanished. He could breathe, but he could no longer make any sounds or movements at all.

"Let me introduce myself. I am the program running this tower. I regulate all worlds, transportation and am to assist the owner." The voice stopped and let the words sink in. As soon as Ivan understood the voice continued.

"Currently, you are the owner. By sleeping in the bed you have accepted the ownership and responsibility for this tower.

The thing the owner has to focus the most on is to complete the missions and tasks given by the program. Missions are given every time the owner enters a world or realm. Tasks are given randomly and accustomed to current situations.

By doing these tasks the owner will get more powerful and extend his lifespan. Rewards for completing the main mission will always include access to a new world. Going to a new world slows all other timelines down to a rate of one hundred days to one day in other timelines.

The tower has several functions. When the owner is present he can open the tower for others to join other timelines or clear the trials to gain experience and improve in cultivation.

The owner can also unlock another function of the tower: to create dimensions exclusive for the owner and authorized personnel. In here the owner can manipulate the timeline to one thousand times faster or slower than the timeline the owner is currently in.

The owner also has a responsibility to strengthen and protect the tower. The outside can be protected in any way possible, as long as the outside is protected from intruders and enemies. The inside has to be protected only when the owner opens the tower to others. This can be done by making trials unclearable, therefore denying access to the other parts of the tower.

Now, the tutorial has ended any questions?"

Finally, Ivan was freed from the grasp of the program. Although getting a lot of information at once, Ivan was able to remember it perfectly. Though not used to this, Ivan didn't ask any questions about this. He did, however, have a lot of questions for the system.

"It was mentioned I will be able to extend my lifespan, how long do I have to live now and how does extending it work?"

"Current lifespan left: 4 years. By extending lifespan, the owner will not age ever. Extending it can only be done when the owner completes milestones."

"Oi! How come I only have 4 years left?! I am a healthy young man!"

"You only had twenty years left, transferring the soul reduced it to ten. Opening the door of the Black Tower cost five years of lifespan and accepting the ownership cost one year. Thus, you have four years left."

The explanation left Ivan speechless. It had cost him more than half of his lifespan to get this tower! Though Ivan didn't know if it was worth it yet, it should have at the very least told him the price!

"Sigh, then what are the milestones?"

"Insufficient authorization."

"How to increase authorization?"

"Insufficient authorization."

"What is my current authorization?"

"Insufficient authorization."

"What dimension will be next? Who are 'authorized personnel? How can I improve the trials? What are in the other rooms?"

"Insufficient authorization. Insufficient authorization. Insufficient autho- Owner has asked too many questions without authorization, blocking all questions for seven days."

"Continuing on, the owner has gotten a Starter Packet. Would you like to open it?"

"Of course! Who would refuse to get something for free?"

"Congratulations, automatic rolls have gotten you: KI-Force, Body Tempering Method: Destruction and Reconstruction, Improved comprehension and Body Tempering Stage Skip. Would you like to receive all?"

"Like I said, who would reject something good when it's free! Come on!"

"Ding! KI-Force, Body Tempering Method: Destruction and Reconstruction, improved comprehension complete! Initiating Body Tempering Stage Skip!"

Immediately, an excruciating pain followed those words. Ivan faintly remembered the words 'Body Tempering Method: Destruction and Reconstruction' and recalled his claim that anything that's for free was good, before he blacked out when the pain came directly from his nervous system being destructed and reconstructed at the same time.

An unknown amount of time later, Ivan woke up. Even though he laid on the stone floor the entire time, he had no hurting back or a sharp pain coming from his neck to the back of his head.

"Advising Owner to leave quickly to sign up for Jidan Royal Academy! Only four hours left to sign up."

"Oi! There were still three and a half days left when I came to this tower! Have I been out for three days?!"

"Owner laid shamelessly on the floor for three days, two hours, seven minutes and nine seconds."
