1 Chapter 1

"Sooo, umm..." Aqua looked between the newly deceased soul sitting opposite to her, and the file (it was a very filled out book, unlike the thin ones, or the ones that are mostly blank) she had on him. "H-Hero Michael Chaser, welcome to the afterlife. I suppose you will wish to know awaits you now?" Honestly, if she could sent someone like him to the Fantasy World, the Demon King would be a cinch.

"Yes, please." The man was sitting relaxed in his chair, already having that air of enlightened old people, like the monks in heaven.

Aqua sighed, she wanted to sucker him to go to the other world to beat the Demon King but...

"Well, there is heaven, but all you can really do is bask in the sun for eternity. You won't even have a physical body, you'll just continue as a spiritual existence." She explained. "The other option is to send you into another world, with the role of defeating the Demon King, where upon you'll be granted a wish of your choice."

Of course he's unlikely to take that option, since he lived a long life fighting villains, other heroes, monsters, Calamity Beasts and sometimes other Gods!

His accomplishments were ridiculous!

"Seriously for a Hero, aren't you a bit of an overachiever!?" She facepalmed at having the perfect isekai protagonist fall on her lap, but he spend way too long battling monsters. He's probably sick of it all at this point.

Michael chuckled. "Well, honestly I can't take credits for most of the Grand Order as I had a lot of help." He smiled sheepishly as he scratched his cheek. He felt the goddess's words praised him too much.

"Ah, you heard that."

"Yep."

"...Well, screw it." Might as well go big or go home. "Okay look, you lived for a long time, like holy shit, you're technically older than I am."

"Really? The timeloop counts?"

"Yep! Anyways, you already did the hero stuff, saved the world and all of that, so beating one measly Demon King shouldn't be that hard, right? Then you can got to heaven if you want and have some blissful eternity and all that."

"Okay."

"I know that you're tired of fighting, and saving people and all that grunt work."

"I said, okay."

"And the fact that you have to get people to cooperate with you like you're herding sheep. No, sheep are more obedient, people just keep making a mess and can't handle even simple tasks without fucking it up--"

"Aqua!"

"Huh?" The Goddess was broken out of her speech.

"I accept. I'm okay with going to a different world, I just have some questions."

"Oh? ...Oh! Great! Awesome! Whatever help you need to succeed, I'm all in. Well, not 'all', as a boon for taking this 'defeat the Demon King' quest, we normally give world travelers the option to take one thing with them. An item, a power, a skill, whatever they want. And please, ask whatever you want."

Aqua couldn't believe her luck. Truly she was the greatest of all reincarnating goddess. Heck, she might even get a promotion for this!

Michael's questions were surprisingly pretty standard, like if he'll be able to language, what the world and culture were like, if there was a time limit to beat the Demon King. Standard stuff like that. He also asked if he could have enough money to register at the Adventurer's Guild, which was easy peasy.

"Okay, so yeah I think I got everything." He stood up, likely ready to leave, and she did took too, preparing to send him on his way.

"And for you special boon, you know what, given all the achievement you already have, I think I can bum it up to two boons. Seriously, imagine all the things you can do with them. Remember, you can choose aaaaany two things you want."

"Really?" Michael smirked, a mischief look in his eyes. He walked toward the Aqua, till he stood slight looming over her, and held her chin up to him. "And what if I choose a beautiful goddess like you to travel with me on this quest? I'm already fortunate enough from having met you, to get a second chance at a happy life, what if I want that luck to always be with me?"

"Eh, eeeeeh?" Aqua blinked in surprise, as she felt herself blush for the first time in a long while.

"Just kidding." Michael stepped back.

"Ah...hey!" She shouted now that she got her bearings again. "You can't play with a maiden's heart like that you jerk! Even more I'm a goddess, do you want me to curse you?" She shouted. "Seriously, what the hell was that ikemen routine." Aqua said trying to calm her heart down.

"Sorry, sorry, I kinda wanted to try acting like Hakuno for a while. My bad." He raised his hands to placate her.

"Hmm, wasn't that," Aqua grabbed the book on Michael's life to flip through it. In a second she reread all of the one and a half year of events of the Grand Order. "Your rival in Chaldea? I thought you guys disliked each other."

"It's...complicated."

"Don't tell me it was a love-hate thing, were you competed for who was the better Master, but secretly wanted to fuck each other." Aqua said with a sly smile.

"Ahem." Michael coughed with a blush and looked away.

Ha! Vengeance achieved. Though Aqua.

"Anyways, for the 'things' I want in the other world, first would be a 'Super Teaching' skill. I think I want to be a teacher or a mentor of sorts, when I retire. As for the second, hmm...I think I would like--"

Suddenly, to the confusion of Michael and Aqua, a magic circle appeared under the former Chaldean Master, and a portal of light opened up above the goddess and hero.

An angel flew down gracefully from the portal and spread her wings, suspending herself in mid-air.

"We have heard your request." Said the angel. "Then from now on, I shall take over for your, Lady Aqua."

A magic circle appeared under Aqua.

"Wait, WAAAHT!"

"Hey! That was just a joke, I didn't actually mean it!"

Both Michael and Aqua began to float helplessly up and toward a portal to the fantasy world.

"Michael Chaser requests were heard, seen to be within regulations and acknowledged." The angel continued.

"There has to be a mistake! I'm a goddess, I can't be taken as an item! That has to be against the rules! That's illegal!" Aqua said pressing against the barrier of the magic circle, and banging on it.

"Are you guys seriously genie wishing this crap?" Michael was less animated than Aqua, simply staying in the middle of the magic circle. Yet his glare caused the angel to flinch for a moment.

"Have a safe trip, Lady Aqua. Should you successful defeat the Demon King, we'll have someone sent to pick you up." Undetered, the angel nodded to Aqua, and turned to Michael. "And Hero Michael, we ask that you please look after Lady Aqua, and we are sorry for any inconveniences."

"Oi!" Michael cried out.

"Wait, wait!" Shouted Aqua.

"O' Brave Hero, I pray that you'll be the one to defeat the Demon King. Should you do so, any one wish will be granted as a gift of the gods!" The angel ignored Michael and Aqua's protest, and soon enough the two were thrown to another world.

===x===

"WAAAAAAAAGH AAAAHHHAAAAAAAA!"

In a new world, and a new life, and Michael already found himself stuck looking after hapless yet probably, overpowered and destructive person.

So, not so different from being a Master at Chaldea.

"There, there." He hugged the crying goddess, ignoring the looks of sympathy, approval or questioning from the people around them.

"Michael, Michael, you have to beat the Demon King." Aqua got out of the hug, grabbed Michael by the collar of his shirt, and shook him senselessly. "I'm a Water Goddess! I can heal but I can't fight! Michael, Michael! You have to beat him so I can go home."

"Aqua!" Michael grabbed her shoulders, to hold her still, and to get her to focus on him. "Look at me. Breathe, breathe, you're gonna be fine."

After Aqua followed his directions, and began to calm down, Michael used his Projection Magecraft to make her a handkerchief.

Huh, I can still use Projection Magecraft? Neat. No, wait, it's feels different. Not important, check it out later.

Aqua blew her nose and started giving him back the wet handkerchief, but he just dismissed it, and the water on it dropped to the ground.

"Okay, look, this is another world, a fantasy world. You said it worked like a video game a bit. RPG rules and all, right? Except without the obvious like turn based combat."

"Yeah, yeah that's right." Aqua slowly became more cheerful, now that she had her cry, and can focus on stuff other than her desertion (banishment?) into this fantasy world. "The magic system here is pretty organized if I say so myself. We can go to the Adventurer's Guild, get registered, go level up, and beat the Demon King, right away. For you it would be a cinch, right?"

Aqua turn, ready to run to the Guild, only for Michael to stop her.

"Do you even know where it is?"

"Ah...no."

Michael chuckled and walked with Aqua following him. They asked around for a bit, and easily found the building. As they walked around, they started chatting.

"Wait, what do you mean you won't go immediately to beat the Demon King!?" Aqua cried out.

"Aqua, think about it, at the moment by this world's standards we're at the bottom. Level Zero."

"But, but you beat Goetia! You can fight Servants!"

"One, I can fight, doesn't mean I can win. Whenever I fought other Servants, it was literally a last resort and the objective was almost always to survive. If I was in a situation where I ended up fighting a Servant, then something must have gone massively wrong. Two, and this is important, I didn't personally beat Goetia. I had a shit ton of Servants, and other Masters to help. I didn't do it alone."

"But, but..."

"Look, Aqua." Michael placed a hand on her shoulder. "Would something bad happened, if you didn't return to the godly realm ASAP?"

"Well, no. They have a lot of people in administration, so they can easily cover for me for a few centuries by Earth time." She said after considering the question. Michael gave her shoulder a friendly squeeze and let go.

"Do you hate it here in the human realm, or do you want to go back to work instantly?"

"Well, not really. I watched humans in the living world a lot, but I don't really have a strong feeling about it, one way or another. As for work..." Aqua thought deeply about it for a while. "I don't actually mind it, but you know what, taking a break isn't so bad."

"See, so you can--"

"This could be like a vacation. An adventure! You're right, Michael. Thank you for reminding me that worrying is pointless!"

"I feel you got over that way too fast."

Aqua dashed forward, dragging Michael with her to the guild.

They entered, ignored the looks people gave them for being new and unknown and headed to the front desk.

After being greeted by the receptionist, Luna, and registering in the guild and for an Adventurer Card, Luna held their cards to announce what Jobs they could have.

Michael was glad the gods or whoever, included enough money for him and Aqua to register, but now they were completely broke. With a bank account of zero.

"Woah! Those stats are amazing. Intelligence is low and Luck is the worst, but everything else is very high!" Luna exclaimed. "Other than Mage which requires Intelligence, you could easily be anything you want, Miss Aqua. You can choose as Advanced Job right off the bat."

"Hm, hm," Aqua nodded to herself. "It's a shame there is no 'goddess' occupation, but I suppose I'll settle for Arch Priest who can heal her allies."

"Arch Priest, it's a class that commands all recovery and support magic, and boast enough strength to stand on the front lines. Congratulations, Miss Aqua!" Luna said out loud.

Michael thought she was advertising Aqua's Job for prospective parties that might want to hire her, and give the new adventurer a leg. It certainly seemed that way from how the other adventurers roared in celebration.

"Hahaha, now you go ahead Michael. Don't fee bad even if you got only Adventurer. I'll be able to heal you no matter what!"

"Wow, thanks for the confidence." Michael said dryly, but his smile showed he took her words in good humor.

Michael place his hand over the magic device, that would write up his card. There was an air of anticipation, people wondering if the companion of the Arch Priest will be as extraordinary as her, even if such a thing was unlikely.

After all, two newly registered adventurers starting off with an Advance Job what are they odds?

As Luna looked at the card being formed, her eyes widened.

"That's...amazing. All of your stats are drastically high. Only Luck is average!"

"Oooh." A rumble of excitement started from the other adventurers.

"With all these stats you can, you can..." Luna blinked in surprise as she looked at the finished card, in slow surprise and dread. "There's...there's only one Job listed to be chosen."

"Uh wait, did I actually end up with Adventurer?" Michael asked, it wasn't bad but he felt a bit disappointed.

"Waaaat? Michael, I swear I didn't mean to jinx you." Aqua cried out.

"Your Job is listed as, as..." Luna began to tremble. "D-D-Dark Paladin!"

Silence slammed down on the guild.

"...So much for a peaceful retirement."
