16 BATTLE SCARS

Haley is staring at me, laying directly on top of me as I have to come to term with what she has said. If it is indeed true that she has in fact been bitten by a Demon, then we are both one and the same. She has now become someone who I can relate to in a way that I will perhaps never relate to another human being again.

“When did this happen?” I asked, needing to go deeper.

“About two weeks ago. I was walking through downtown L.A late at night. When this guy popped out of nowhere. I thought he was some homeless dude so it did not occur to me that he could do me any harm. I started talking to him at the corner of this dark alley. He began to get a little handsy, so I decided that it was time to leave. He felt otherwise and attacked me.”
