After about a week of everything getting back to normal, I hear a gunshot go off. I run over from where I was at the lake. I was alone, drawing a picture of Madi, Lexa, and me for Lexa. I dropped the drawing and I ran to where I heard the gunshot. I hear another one go off. It's coming from inside one of the biggest huts. I walk inside and I see someone I thought I'd never see again. Emerson. Then I see everyone I've ever cared about, including Madi, Lexa, my mom, and all my friends, tied up. I try to charge at Emerson before I see that he has a gun pointed at my head. "I know you want me Emerson. So take me and let them go." I say angrily. "No. You made me watch everyone I've ever loved die in front of me, and I'm going to make you do the same." Before I can react, I'm pinned on the ground. I try to fight, but he wraps my hands together, and then my feet. I stare at Lexa. She stares back, helplessly. I see Madi crying. A tear drips down my cheek. How am I going to get out of this one? "I'll start with the ones I know you care about the least, so that you can be sitting there helplessly, knowing that you're family is next." Emerson says. He shoots someone in the head without hesitating. I hear a muffled scream come from someone with a gag in their mouth. I feel a tear drip down my cheek. It's over. I need to think of something. "How are you even alive?" I ask Emerson, hoping it will distract him enough for me to think of something. "After you and your girlfriend got me banished, I was spying on all of you. I found out about the radiation and I found myself a bunker. But I needed to come up to get more food, and I found your camp. So now I'm going to kill all of you and take your camp." Emerson says, as he gives me a death stare. He shoots someone else, and more screams come after. "What do you want Emerson! Take me! They don't deserve to die for what I did!" I yell. He laughs. "I want you to suffer! The way I did!" He yells. I break my hands free. "Do you know what it was like to watch everyone die?" Hearing them all wheezing and pain and knowing that I have no one left?" He screams. I manage to get my feet untied too, and I launch at him. He falls to the floor, but quickly gets back up. "You're not killing me that easy." He says angrily. He looks at his gun, and I run towards it. He gets there first. I grab the gun from his hands before he can react, and I point it at his head. "I did what I had to Emerson. My people would've died. I should of killed you when I had the chance. I quickly look to Lexa, making sure that I'm making the right decision. She nods, and I shoot him in the head. Emerson is done for.

I start releasing everyone, and they all thank me. The family members of the two people that got killed run over to them. They start crying heavily. I release Lexa and Madi, and they hug me. Everyone releases the rest of the people. "You could've died." I say to both of them. Tears stream down my face. I hug them tighter. I kiss Lexa, and tears coat her face too. I wipe them off, and I hug them both again, and I hug my mom. "I'm so sorry I didn't kill him sooner, or they would've never died." I say, as I point to the two dead people. "We can have a memorial if you'd like." I say. They nod, and we go outside.
