DEATH

Mia just woke up from her coma, with tears trickling down her cheek when she realized where they were taking her, her brother; Dave and her maid; Erika, to a brothel. Her brother was consoling her, telling her everything would be alright. She listened to what the guards were saying.

One said: "He was a traitor, a thief and a monster" ; "Yeah thank heavens he was killed by our great commander".

She bursted into tears when she realized that they were talking about her father. " You bastards, you have forgotten all what my dad had done for you, he provided for your needs when you came crying for help but now, you turned your back against him and your commander killed him, is it fair?", she retorted back.

A guard let out a sinister laughter; "To hell with your useless father", he said.

"You shall pay dearly with your lives", Mia said banging the door of the movable prison.

"What power do you have? Being the daughter of the Minister of Finance can not guarantee you protection. But we have our commander who can help us in times of need", another shot back at her. She kept mute and sobbed silently as she remembered her past, how she was living in comfort with her family.

"Mia, Mia, Mia! where are you?", her brother shouted her name as they were playing hide and seek.

"Erika have you seen Mia".

"No sire", was the response he got from the maid who was employed to cater for the needs of his elder sister.

He was not surprised because their home was like heaven, that is if he had been there before. He walked through the hallway, looking behind flower vases to see if Mia had hidden herself there but no as he shook his head. Suddenly, a frame fell from the wall and hit his head and he thought it was one of Mia's prank.

"Mia", he called out with an angelic voice.

When he noticed no one answered, he picked it up and he bursted into tears as he figured out that it was their mother's picture.

He remembered how he was told that his birth brought about the death of his mother. His heart almost flew out from his chest when he felt a gentle pat on his shoulder. He slowly turned back and he saw Mia.

''Everything would be alright, we miss her also.'' She consoled him trying hard to fight back tears.

"Dinner is ready", he said as he heard the food bell.

"You are so obsessed with food Dave." Mia mocked him.

He just hissed as they moved into the room where they had their meal as one big family. Their family was a well known one in the town of Kai and that was simply because their father was the Minister of Finance. He was so influential that his wealth could buy anything. He had close to sixty guards and one hundred and fifty maids to take care of him and his family . One could imagine how wealthy the family was. But alas, this happy and wealthy family was just going to be in ruins.

One fateful day, a whole army forced their way into Mia's house killing anybody on their way, most especially, the guards. When Mia's father came out, he was horrified to see corpses everywhere.

To clear his doubt: "Who sent you?", he enquired from them.

"I did. " a man in his early forty clothed in a commandant clothes arrayed with strang of red beads with a silver sword hung round his waist with an hat wrapped around his head sitting on a ugly horse who was looking fierce with an helmet covering it's head leaving it eyes, nose and mouth exposed.

"Aiden!"

Mia's father gasped in surprise as he saw his best friend alighting from his horse.

"Yes, I'm the one."

The man answered him.

"But why would you do this to me after all I did for you, supported you till you became the Minister of Defense, is this what you will repay me with?"

Mia's father said almost in tears because he knew he was going to die.

"Death!" he answered his own question himself.

"Yes, death."

Aiden said with a wicked giggle.

Mia and Dave were just in time to witness their father's death.

"Father!"

Both chorused almost together but they were restrained by some guards. He tried running towards Aiden but he was stopped by a stab.

"Nooooooo!''

Mia screamed and lost consciousness.

Now she's awake in a movable prison with her only family left her brother and maid. Now they are on a journey to the brothel in the dead of the night.
