9 Hidden danger

Pin Fan was livid after hearing about what had happened in the dining hall, clearly these little twerps were exaggerating and making the situation look as bad as possible, but the idea that his illustrious name had been thrown in the mud and associated with this bunch of wastes he was forced to babysit was intollerable. He already had to endure that old goat Mo's threats regarding this Huang Mu once before, the gall of that half dead geezer, his past self would have barely needed to lift his hand to order someome to put him to rest once and for all...

Pin Fan used to be a daecon in the Yellow Range and he was one of the governor's protégés. Unfortunately one of the many political machinations of his faction, in part due to his oversights, had been exposed and he was choosen as the guy to take the fall for it.

Normally for this kind of infraction he would have been executed but, thanks to his patrons, he still possessed enough clout to commute the sentence to a demotion to White Valley.

In the eyes of most this was the same as ending his career and removing him from any kind of meaningful and potentially problematic position in the future.

Now he found himself in the unenviable position of having to look at these swines in a vain attempt to find a pearl and use it as his meal ticket out of this dumpster.

At first this thought had motivated him and he hid his nasty side as much as possible, but the more new disciples he came in contact with and the more he realized how truly hopeless his position was, making him more and more bitter.

He was also scratching his head trying to figure out how that waste Huang Mu managed to pull such a stunt off; he would have never dreamt that Huang Mu had already reached the first level of internal cultivation, something he was supposed to strictly monitor and report to the higher ups and that had never happened at White Valley before, since from his point of view someone that had not even managed to light the testing stone would never be able to cultivate anything, another reason why he firmly despised the boy.

The rest of the elders were all bark and no bite; elder Mo for instance had actually chosen to retire here in the name of some old tradition the sect founder had supposedly set in place eons ago, another proof in elder Pin's opinion that he had lost his marbles, so they actually cared about their charges and appeared to the youngsters to be strict and unfeeling only out of care for them and hope that if they were instilled with the right work ethic they might make something out of themselves, tough chance of that ever happening! Still all of this meant elder Pin had to tread carefully and figure out if Huang Mu, against all odds, had proven to be talented in some aspect and had caught one of the other elder's eyes before making a move on him.

Based on the description from those snivellers at his feet, he should start with elder Fang, in charge of movement tecniques. If, as he expected, this had been a fluke and Meng Wei turned out to be a paper tiger amongst the kids, then Huang Mu's days were numbered, he would like to see how that elder Mo tried to match wits with him when it came to scheming... the idea alone brought a smile to the usually stern faced Pin Fan, regardless he should find an appropriate punishment for the idiots in front of him first.
