7 Moonlight Ore

By drawing the attention of the Grey Wolves King, even if Master Stroke managed to parry every single attack, his HP was still decreasing at a steady rate. He was able to find small gaps in between attacks to cast Lesser Heal on himself, but that was far from enough.

No matter what, he was still a Cleric, not a Knight!

In fact, if he had not added all of his additional stats points to his Strength attribute, with the weak base Strength of a Cleric, there would not even be a way for him to successfully parry the attacks of the Grey Wolves King.

If only he was had already reached Level 11, then he would no longer have a problem with tanking this Grey Wolves King!

While he was trying so hard to keep up with the Dungeon Boss, Jayden actually found out that his party mates had all stopped moving.

What was the matter with them?

Were they all playing at the same LAN shop that had a blackout or something?

Jayden was confident that Master Stroke could stay healthy until SamuRyan got his HP back up with potions, but it was a different matter altogether if his teammates had disconnected!

Thankfully, the others had only paused for a short while, and had finally started moving again.

"You are crazy, Jayden!" Alex laughed in excitement as Transcending All started firing his arrows once again. "I've never seen anything like this before!"

"Of course you haven't, I doubt anyone has ever done anything like this before! Maybe only the professional players can do this!" Nicholas agreed immediately.

"…" Ryan simply remained silent, quickly getting SamuRyan to heal up so he could take back his position.

Michelle smiled in admiration as she took in everyone's reactions. As expected, when compared to her other classmates, Jayden was truly in a league of his own!

It did not take long for SamuRyan to recover. When he was ready to rush in and take his place as the tank of the party, Master Stroke still had more than half his HP remaining.

"I'm fine, just focus on dealing damage for now. We will switch when I am red," Jayden immediately stopped him.

"…" Ryan simply could not find the words to retort him right now, and could only silently follow Jayden's instructions.

His mind was already in a semi state of confusion.

Before today, if someone said that it was possible to tank the Grey Wolves King as a Cleric, Ryan would definitely have treated him as an idiot.

And if someone told him that Jayden, of all people, was able to tank the Grey Wolves King as a mere Level 10 Cleric, Ryan might even have ended up paying him for the entertainment!

But right here, right now, this was exactly what was happening!

In fact, this was something that most players would have found exciting to watch, just like how it was for Alex and Nicholas. But due to the previous day's events, Ryan's reaction was now greatly influenced by his sense of competitiveness against Jayden, resulting in him being unable to accept the fact that was staring him in his face.

Thankfully, he was not new to the game, and hitting a few keys on a primary class character was easy enough for him even in his current state. Otherwise, the others would definitely have realised that something was wrong with him.

In the end, Master Stroke's HP never fell into the red zone.

As the Grey Wolves King collapsed, a bright light fell onto Master Stroke, immediately healing him to full.

Level 11!

At Level 11, the second skill of Clerics would be made available to them.

Lesser Recovery – a spell that heals its target over a short period of time.

With this second heal in his spells arsenal, the likes of the Grey Wolves King would no longer be a threat!

"Time to check the drops!" Transcending All enthusiastically ran up to the carcass of the Dungeon Boss.

When he saw the items lying on the ground, Alex could not help but shout out in excitement. "Holy shit! We really struck the lottery here!"

"What is it?" Nicholas inquired impatiently upon seeing his reaction.

"This!" Transcending All held up a shining metal ore for all to see.

The metal ore was crudely shaped, as though it had just been extracted from a mine. But at the same time, this crudely shaped ore also gave off a beautiful silver light that seemed to belong to the world of divines.

"Woah!" Nicholas exclaimed in surprise. "This is…"

"To think that we would get one in a dungeon like this…" even Jayden's eyes widened in astonishment.

"What is this?" Michelle was the only clueless one.

Seeing the ore in Transcending All's hands, Ryan immediately broke out of his stupor, "Moonlight Ore! It is a Legendary grade material that is required to forge Moon Ranked Equipment!"

"Moon Ranked Equipment!" Michelle finally got the picture after hearing the usage of the item.

In World of Kings, all items were divided into 5 main rarities, indicated by the colour of their names on the display panel. Normal items were white, Uncommon items were green, Rare items were blue, Epic items were Purple, and Legendary items were orange.

These were the items that could be dropped from dungeons and wild monsters. However, above them stood the existences called Star, Moon and Sun Ranked Equipment.

Disregarding the ridiculously rare Sun Ranked Equipment, Moon Ranked Equipment could be considered the overlords of all equipment!

Items of these three grades had to be forged from Legendary grade equipment, and retained the bonuses of the original item while adding bonuses of their own. However, this forging process was not guaranteed to succeed.

In fact, there was only less than 10% chance for each forging attempt to be successful.

As if that was not enough, if the forging process were to fail, then the previous equipment would be destroyed along with the consumed materials!

If you could choose an equipment to upgrade, then you would definitely choose the strongest equipment in your arsenal. However, at the same time you risked losing your most prized possession.

When one thought about this point, it was obvious how sadistic the World of Kings' game developers actually were.

90% failure rate! That was not a risk that just anybody would dare to take!

The potential loss of their own equipment coupled with the rarity of the ores resulted in very few people who actually possessed any equipment of the three grades. But even so, there was no lack of people who were more than willing to give it a try!

After all, once the forging process succeeded, the additional bonuses gained were no joke. This could be seen from how highly valued Dis Pear's single piece of Star Ranked Equipment was.

"Let's roll for it," no matter how much he wanted it, Alex maintained his rationality.

"Yeah, let's do that. It's the only fair way," Nicholas nodded.

Seeing that there were no objections, Alex went ahead with it.

[System Notice: Transcending All had rolled a 76.]

[System Notice: Mich had rolled a 63.]

[System Notice: Transcending None had rolled a 5.]

When he saw the other two got lower 63 and 5 respectively, Alex could not help but swallow the saliva in his mouth nervously. There were only Ryan and Jayden remaining, as long as both of them got a number below 76, then the Moonlight Ore would go to him!

That was a 75% probability for each of them!

He could already imagine his Transcending All striking fear in the hearts of all others with a Moon Ranked Bow in his hands!

[System Notice: Master Stroke had rolled an 81.]

At that moment, Alex's dream immediately crumbled, and it was Jayden's turn to grow excited. But unlike Alex, Jayden did not dare to let his thoughts run wild. After all, there was still Ryan who had not yet had his turn.

[System Notice: SamuRyan had rolled an 80.]

When Ryan saw the number on this monitor, he almost punched the screen in frustration.

So close!

He was so close to getting the Moonlight Ore!

But Jayden just had to be slightly above him…

Jayden! Once again, it was Jayden who stood in his way!

At this moment, Ryan was full of regrets. Of all people, why did he have to invite Jayden to join them?

On the first day, Jayden had stolen his thunder by getting lucky on his critical hits. And now on the second day, Jayden literally just stole his Moonlight Ore away!

Oblivious to Ryan's thoughts, Jayden was ecstatic at the moment!

When Ryan completed his roll, the Moonlight Ore was automatically sent into Master Stroke's inventory, confirming his ownership over the Legendary grade material!

It was too bad that these elusive materials were bound to the character and could not be traded. Otherwise, he would definitely use it to upgrade one of Dis Pear's equipment!

The rest of the drops were nothing impressive, and after distributing them, the party was transported back to the entrance of the dungeon.

"Damn it! Jayden, you lucky bastard!" Alex whined in disappointment.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhh! So near yet so far!" Nicholas added to the whining.

"Hahaha! Tough luck!" the grin on Jayden's face grew even wider as he saw the reactions of his classmates.

"Damn it! Next! Let's go for another one! I will definitely get the next one!" Alex quickly recovered.

"Ok! Let's do another one!" Michelle agreed before turning towards SamuRyan in surprise. "…Ryan?"

"E-Eh? Oh, ok let's go," Ryan was still thinking about how he regretted inviting Jayden, and only just remembered that as the leader of the party, he had to be the one to activate the dungeon entry.

During the next run, Ryan received an even greater shock.

This time, Jayden directly took over his role as the party's tank, letting Master Stroke rush to the front from the start. And what was more infuriating was that he actually got through the entire dungeon completely fine, without the need to switch with his SamuRyan at all!

Parried!

Everything was parried!

Was that really Jayden playing behind Master Stroke? How could he be this good?

But no matter what, Ryan could only keep his thoughts to himself. It was only an hour later that his nightmare finally came to an end, as Jayden logged off for his daily revision.

The moment Jayden logged off, Ryan immediately felt reenergised, almost as though he was a completely different person.

"Let's level up as much as we can before logging off tonight!"

"Woah! Ryan! Are you finally awake or something?" Alex was surprised by the sudden comment.

"Hahaha! I'm in!" Nicholas laughed upon seeing how enthusiastic Ryan was.

"Ok!" once again, Michelle agreed readily.

"Well, I think I finally got used to this character. After all, I am too used to my high level account so I couldn't really perform to the best of my abilities before this!" Ryan laughed along in embarrassment.

Seeing their responses, Ryan let out a sigh of relief.

By now, he had no choice but to accept that Jayden might really be slightly above him in terms of skill. Thus there was only one sure-fire to prevent his position as the leader of the group from being threatened, and that was to just not play with Jayden.

Since he was the one who invited Jayden, he obviously could not directly oust him out of the party. However, if the level gap between them grew big enough, then there would be no need for him to do anything. The game itself would stop them from partying up to clear dungeons together!

That night, Jayden was unable to focus on his revision for the first time in a while. He had sent Ian a message informing that he had made his decision, and was told to head over to the studio after school tomorrow.

It was a big decision, and Jayden was unsure if it was the right one. However, Jayden knew that if he did not give it a try, then he would definitely regret letting go of this opportunity.

Tomorrow, he would finally take his first step into the world of professional players!

How would it be like? Would he fit in with the team?

Would they be able to achieve good results? Or would it be a complete waste of time?

As these thoughts continued to run through his mind, Jayden eventually realised that it was impossible for him to do his revision tonight, and decided to just go to bed early.

Thankfully, he was at least able to fall asleep…after three hours of tossing and turning.
