137 Chapter 137

Impulse sat crossed-legged across Faust in the Bridge of the Traveler, rubbing his forehead. He wore a dark blue mage robe, wearing black pants, and a shirt beneath it. He has been trying to learn magic for some months now, and it isn't working out as well as he thought it would. The first problem being his magic. From what Faust told him, his magic power is enough to rival that of Zatanna, and in his demon form, even Doctor Fate would have problems fighting him. But, due to his magic costing his soul to create and use, he won't be able to cast world-breaking spells without the risk of killing himself. In three months they have been learning magic millions have died to keep Impulse alive.

The second reason was Faust himself. He never taught anyone, Impulse being his first. His children learned magic from watching him doing it due to their talent, but Impulse? He had no talent at all for Magic. It was like trying to teach a 1st grader how to perform heart surgery. Even with his scary learning speed, it was still annoying to teach him. For the three months they have been together, Impulse has only learned one basic spell. ONE!!!

"Well, this is disgracing." Impulse mumbled, covering his palm.

"Yes. Yes, it is." Faust agreed, folding his arm. "I thought teaching you would be a piece of cake, but I was wrong."

Impulse stood up, looking at his palm. "If I wasn't scared of dying due to using too much magic, I would have already been a master."

"Don't play yourself, Impulse. You have no talent." Faust said, rubbing his forehead. "This is frustrating."

Impulse stared at Faust, sighing. When he started learning magic, he thought it would be a breeze like learning Cytology or hacking. But now? He has only learned one magic spell after three months of learning so that says a lot.

'If I can get to a place where I won't need to worry about my soul--' He paused, slapping his forehead. "Of course. The Library of Heroes. How could I not have thought of that!?"

"Hmm?" Cause asked, looking up at the smiling Impulse.

"No, nothing." Impulse shook his head, "Xerah, send Faust and C-3 back to Earth. I will be going out."

[Ok, Operator]

"Where are you going?!" Faust shouted, standing up. "You still need to learn magic."

"Don't worry. You are free." Impulse smiled, closing his eyes.

He connected to the Throne of heroes, his body disappearing from the DC-verse and appearing in the Nasuverse. Opening his eyes, he found himself in a Library, sitting on the sofa across from the entity that checks out heroes. He looked into his soul, finding it still burning to produce magic, but something was different. It wasn't burning out at the slightest. It was as if he had an immortal soul…

Impulse immediately left the Library, finding himself back at where he was in the DC-verse, except he was now floating in space instead of the Traveller. It seemed like the Traveler had left for Earth -1. Looking into his soul, he found it slowly burning out, but when he returned to the Library, it wasn't…

"In this Library, I am immortal…" Impulse concluded, his body shaking in excitement. If his soul can't die here, he is immortal. "I AM FUCKING IMMORTAL!!! If I am about to die, I can just come in here to escape death."

He looked over to the faceless entity, grinning. "Are you excited for me?"

The entity nodded, returning to its still position.

"Haha! KAHAHAHAHA!!! I CAN'T DIE IN HERE!" He couldn't help but laugh out loud. Three months ago, he thought that losing the speed force for the Throne of heroes was a bad trade. Even if the library was filled with knowledge, he still thought it was a loss. But now? Fuck the speed force, he is Immortal in here!

He erased all his excitement, becoming serious. If he escapes death by coming in here, there is a chance he would die if he returned to the DC verse. He always reappears where he last was before he enters the Library, so his killers can camp, waiting for him to spawn and kill him. It was a good plan nevertheless, but not perfect...

"Forget that." Impulse said, pushing it to the back of his mind. "You. Tell the best magician in this Library." He commanded, turning to the faceless being.

It raised its hand, an original copy of a golden hardcover book appearing on it. It then handed it to Impulse before returning to its motionless state. Impulse looked at the book, [Solomon: Legend of the King of Magecraft]

"Solomon. Let's see who you are." Impulse said, throwing the book behind him.

The book hit the ground behind him, shattering into billions of pieces before rearranging itself to form a man. He stood 5'8" tall with light brown skin, long ashy hair with a braid coming down his left shoulder, and golden eyes. Solomon looked at himself, then at Impulse, who was sitting with his back to him. He used his clairvoyance at Impulse, his eyes giving out a vibrant golden glow as a result. His eyes slowly got wider as he mumbled;

"This place has no future nor past."

"That's because we are outside of time." Impulse said, standing from his seat and facing Solomon.

"The Throne of Heroes." Solomon muttered, inspecting his surroundings. "Would you mind informing me on how to leave this place?"

"I could." Impulse smiled, "Only if you teach me magic."

"You wish for me to teach you magic in return for my freedom?" Solomon asked, his eyes darting across Impulse's body.

"Yes." Impulse responded, the smile still on his face. He is just making a false promise. He has a lot of control over the Libary, like rejecting someone from borrowing a book, taking back the book before its due date, but destroying and freeing books? Those are out of his power.

"What makes you think I can't just... leave?" Solomon asked, his eyes stopping at the faceless entity behind Impulse.

"Because you cant. You are in the void, a place existing outside of both the world and the time axis. If you manage to leave the library, you will be cursed to wander the void for eternity." Impulse explained, gesturing to the entity. "And this, my friend, would make sure you don't make it out alive."

Solomon stared expressionless at the entity, turning back to Impulse. "I don't desire freedom but wisdom. If I teach you the knowledge of Magecraft, you will permit me to read the lives of those on the throne of heroes."

Impulse thought for a while before nodding. "Based on my progress, you will unlock more books to read."

"I look forward to working with you."

"Likewise."
