Awakening

" This egg is so damn delicious!" Tyrion said.

The others nodded because the huge egg was really something they never tasted before. It was invigorating and they hadn't stopped eating until only the shell was left.

" Bastian go ahead and eat the fruit, let's see what will happen and remember! Even if it's painful, hold on and don't give in!" Ethan reminded.

"I will!" Bastian nodded and he then devoured the blue fruit, the numbing feeling from back at the lake was now gone. What was left was the bittersweet juice that entered his mouth. He didn't stop until the last bite was in his stomach, that was the beginning of it.

" Aaaaaaah" a scream ran out from Bastian's mouth as he felt lightning course through his veins and its energy was moving from his stomach towards where his centre of gravity is. The lightning baptism he was suffering was most focused on his limbs, spine and heart!

" Aaaaaah!" Another scream ran out! This time it was Ethan who fell down facing something else entirely! While Bastian's face was blue and twitching, his was read and his skin became red with a bit of golden light into it. Just like the flaming beast!

Tyrion's face was pale as he looked at his two brothers, he never felt so afraid before! He was afraid to lose them! His fist clenched and sweat rolled on his forehead like a waterfall.

Elora was trembling, wondering if she's next to suffer the pain. She had already endured a good amount and thankfully last time she only ate a bit! If she ate the same as them she would probably have died from not being able to shoulder it. Now that she ate quite a lot of the egg as well, she feared.

Ethan's body had flames running through his veins experiencing the burning fire that revolved around his heart, limbs and spine.

Elora went and grabbed a bucket of water planning to pour it down on Ethan whose face changed when he saw her. Even though he was in pain he was still able to open his eyes.

" Stop!" Tyrion told her making her confused.

" He does not want to!" He pointed at Ethan

"How do you know?" she asked and put down the bucket

" From his look right now" He answered not taking his eyes off his brothers.

Tyrion and Elora had not experienced the same thing but they watched the other two and could imagine how much they were going through so they said:

" Just hold on!"

" Easy for you to say!" The two in pain roared

The process kept on happening for 3 more hours before it stopped. The two drank some water before blacking out. They woke up a whole day later!

" How much did we sleep?" asked Ethan

" A whole day!" Said Tyrion who sounded relieved, he let out a sigh and closed his eyes. He never moved from his place the whole day long.

" I see, go to sleep" Bastian nodded, he noticed the black circles underneath Tyrion's eyes and knew that he did not sleep. Normally, now with their new situation, staying up a day without sleep was as if they did not need any so the circles must have been from the mental stress he suffered waiting for them to wake up.

They waited for 8 hours before, Tyrion woke up. They didn't need to go out since there was enough food in the now expanded lair which was done during the time it took to observe the pattern of the flaming bird.

Bastian ate the snake meat while Ethan ate the bird's meat. They both felt some kind of nourishment coming off from it. They could sense it was helpful for them.

" So Bastian what did you get?" Tyrion asked very curiously.

" haha! We need to go out to show you!" He said as he left towards the outside.

" Are you ready? I'm not sure myself how I've been affected but I guess we'll know now!"

" Don't keep us waiting!" Ethan and Elora said at the same time.

" Sure! Sure!" He nodded joyfully, he then focused on his legs and feet and dashed, well that was his intention until he found a tree in front of him in which he almost smashed his face. He reacted quickly and pushed his leg forward and started climbing the tree instead. More like running up and he didn't stop until he reached the top.

When he looked down, he found that the other three were very far away!

" Ethan! come here! Get me down!"

Ethan and the other two still didn't react, what they saw was not something they could take in, in a short period of time. One second, Bastian was next to them, the next he was already so far away that they didn't know where he was because for them he just disappeared or turned invisible.

They followed a black line left on the grassy ground by the lightning on his feet still trying to look for him when they heard him shouting. They lifted their head up and watched him dumbfoundedly waving towards them.

They just kept looking at him and doing calculations in their mind. The tree was at least a mile away, probably 20 seconds passed since he disappeared but he already made it to the top. So even if we split the distance and time by two which is still incorrect as it would normally take longer when climbing than running on ground, he took 10 seconds to cross a mile!!!!

" I've never envied his speed until today!" Tyrion said shaking his head and waking himself up from his daze.

" Agreed." Ethan nodded.

" Why do you need me to get you down?" Ethan asked after reaching the bottom of the tree.

" I can't control my speed I almost smashed my face in this tree, Imagine if I run down I'll turn into meat paste!" He answered.

" OK! I'm coming!" Ethan climbed the tree quite fast and with ease, got both of them down.

" I guess I'll need to train on it," Bastian said excitedly.

" No shit!" Cursed Tyrion and Ethan.

" Is that the only thing you got?" asked Elora.

" You think he still got something else?"

" He looks like he still wants to experience something else," Elora said

" I'm not sure about it though! Here goes nothing!" Bastian said, focused on his hands and tried to summon the lightning from his core and launch a lightning bolt but he failed. However, his hands now held crackling lightning around it much like the snake's.

Ethan looked at Tyrion who did the same and turned around.

"Hey, do you know someone called Bastian?"

" No, I had a bastard brother called so!"

" What a coincidence, I did too!"

They gritted their teeth and went back next to their lair.

" What about you Ethan? What did you get?" Elora asked.

" I Can conjure flames! I think!" He said and tried the same thing as Bastian! And flames sprang up from his palms and kept on intensifying.

" Good! Now we have a stove for cooking! No need to look for more feathers!" Bastian teased.

" Shit! what is this!" A minute later he cursed.

Ethan infused his flames into his chains and they could actually float and bend at his well giving him perfect control over them which he used to attack Bastian who at first wanted to dodge with ease but after they changed course mid-air he found that no matter where he went they followed giving him no chance to get near Ethan. Perhaps if he controlled his speed he might but they would be injuring each other so they stopped.

" I also want to get stronger!" Elora said, her head down and feeling low!

" Look! Even I got nothing! Perhaps the next time we get something you might also unlock something!" Tyrion comforted both of them.

" Yeah, that's surprising, I mean Bastian ate the fruit which was in the lake of the lightning snake so it is understandable that he can use lightning even though I have no idea how this happened. But what about me? I ate the same thing as you guys!" Ethan remarked.

" True! Then how did you unlock these abilities while we got nothing except a little stronger physically!" Tyrion asked puzzled.

" Perhaps it's the constitution?" Proposed Ethan

" You mean…" Bastian understood.

" Yes! You always had an advantage in speed and burst. Lightning is a discharge of electricity which has the same characteristics so you're somehow suitable for it so you awakened it."

" But what about you?"

" I don't know perhaps it's control!"

" Control?"

"Yes, during experiments or the controlling of the chains, control over body parts and extended ones are very crucial so I have much better control over it than you. So that's probably why!"

" Then for Tyrion, we'd have to get a beast with a strong defence or very strong strength!" Bastian suggested.

" I think you're right!" Ethan nodded.

"What about me! We'll need to know what you're good at! your memory is stronger so unless we come across a beast with telekinesis, I honestly don't know what's suitable for you!" Bastian said

" There's always Light at the end of the tunnel."
