125 Searching for food

After Netra heard about the girl named Eiliyah, she confronted the 3 girls and asked them about the entire story.

She then asked about the bandit camp location, the strength of their leader and their numbers.

The girls were not able to give a proper answer to any of these questions. They did not remember the location because they were bounded and had a hood placed over their face when they were brought to the camp and they were too terrified to care for any landmarks when they broke out of there.

They were only able to tell that the bandit camp was location in some kind of place filled with rocks which doesn't tell us much.

The bandit leader never fought in front of them either so they had no idea how strong he was.

And the bandits in the camp worked in rotations as they went out from time to time to gather supplies so the girls didn't know the exact numbers as well but they guessed that there must be more than a hundred bandits in that camp.

I silently lamented over the fact that I had killed the last bandit last night. If I had kept him alive then we could have interrogated him about their location and strength.

Well, all we can do now is hope to catch another bunch of bandits or catch their scent which will lead us back to their camp.

At least now we know who pilfered all the food supplies in these houses.

I was adamant about searching for food in another town and then searching for the bandits but Netra was adamant about searching for the bandits first.

For some reason she really wanted to save the girl named Eiliyah. I did not protest against this request from her but we often do not get what we want.

After searching for a few hours, we found no trace of the bandits.

Sure there were tracks marks at places and the scent of a battle lingered in the air as well. But the scent was weak and the track marks had all but vanished.

We were not able to find the bandits or their camp.

So in the end, we decided to move to the next town or village so that we could search for food to feed the three girls.

I was worried about Netra as she seemed a bit depressed and went to talk with her about it but she shut me out saying that she was okay and I didn't push it any further.

Quietly we walked to the next town in search for food.

I was too worried about Netra and she was too worried about the girl named Eiliyah. As for the three girls, I did not know them enough to guess what they might have been thinking but thankfully they stayed quite.

—————

The next village that came across on the road was made up to hundred or so small houses along with a few small shops and a convenience mall.

Nothing spectacular about it but I hoped that we would be able to find some food in here because the rumbling noises coming out of the three girl's stomach filled my heart a pity.

'Well, at least the area is devoid of any abnormals.' I thought and wondered if that truly was a good news or not.

After all, the abnormals from this whole area had gone off to the giant behemoth thing that still hovered in the horizon. Consuming and absorbing dozens of abnormals with each passing second and filling my heart with trepidation.

'Netra never really told me what that thing was. We never really got the chance to talk about it.' I thought as I broke in one of the vacant shops and told the three girls to stay in there while I'll go and search for something edible.

Netra had already gone ahead to search for food and now I'll finally able to relieve myself from this baby sitting duty.

"Umm… Thank you." The 2nd girl said and felt the urge to tell them that they should thank Netra and not me but on second thought I didn't really cared about them and their thanks and I just nodded softly and left.

After all, Netra might have missed it, being the naive girl girl she was, but these three were obviously not comfortable in my presence.

They were trying to hide it, sure. But I knew it all the same. The way they flinched every time I did any sudden movements or looked in their direction said it all.

I took out a smoked Creepy Bugger in munched on it as I went from houses that Netra had not already searched thoroughly.

That didn't already contain her distinct smell.

A smell that I was beginning to like more and more with each passing day.

Hmm…

That sounded a bit kinky, which was unintentional, but still…

The sound coming from the walkie talkie broke me out of my musings and I realized that Netra was trying to contact me through it.

I took it out of my utility belt and Netra's voice came out from the other side.

"I found something interesting in the convenience mall. Could you come here as soon as possible. Oh, and you can stop searching whatever house you're going through right now. You won't find any food in them."

"Okay." I said and kept the walkie talkie back in the utility belt before looking in the direction where I remembered the Convenience Store being.

'Let's see what interesting thing she's found.' I thought and jumped on the rooftops without further amble.
