Chapter 322: You stink

Aileen's POV

The moment she stepped out of the portal, she could feel it- the thrumming static of dark magic buzzing through the air. Though the dark wards were at least a few yards away from where she stood, Zhashui was covered in its dense murky aura. She walked ahead, pulling her hood further down, not wanting to give herself away as a foreigner. 

The sun had set and the sky was painted with stars, like a mirage set up by a predator to attract its prey. There were hardly any humans on the street other than the occasional passerby who raised their brows at her and hurried away. To her left, the yellow river gushed past her, sparkling with the glow of the moon like a playful child teasing her.
