198 Chapter 198: Why him?

The moon shined brightly on Milethnor that night. Tired villagers walked around in groups, laughing and sharing jokes. Nobody wanted to sleep because tonight was a night of celebration. They had won against the demons. Laying their dead to the ground and bidding them a safe passage to the netherworld, the elves sang all night, singing the gloom away. Though the deaths broke them, they knew that the moon goddess would give them a new life, even if it were to be reborn as a flower or a bee. 

Lloyd smiled, hearing the echoes of their laughter. He looked down at the girl sleeping on his lap like a little puppy. The distant sounds were too low to disturb her. He wanted to believe that it was his sound that lulled her to sleep and kept her from waking up. He started humming again, remembering the lullaby her mother used to sing for him. It was her favorite at one point in time.
