The evening breeze was cold as if anticipating a storm any time soon. On the small hillock that they were on, there was not a single living thing exempting them. Tall grass spread over the valley a few meters ahead of them. Elize stood there, watching it sway violently as the wind slowly started picking up. It looked much like how she felt inside. Ever since they arrived at the spot half an hour ago, Zack hadn't said a single word. He had stood there silently by her side, looking at the scenery below with a sad smile. 

Elize wondered if he felt the same pain that she did. She looked down at her empty hand that once wore the ring that she had given away with much haste. Every moment spent with him now was torture, where flashes of memories of the good times that they had spent together kept haunting her. A part of her wished that he would be able to justify his actions, but she knew that no justification would suffice for all the things that he had done.
