When she reached the town, it looked busy. Although it was quite early in the morning, people were running around the street looking determined to have a fresh start. Elize wondered why the small town looked this crowded, even on a Saturday. As she strolled aimlessly among the crowd, she realized that there were soft footsteps following her. It was not heavy enough for an adult human's and was quite clumsy for it to belong to any supernatural creature. 

She looked around the surroundings, but it was too crowded for her to notice anything. So she kept going until she reached the end of the street. To her side was an alley littered with garbage. She slipped quietly into the place and hid behind a pile of discarded cartons. Elize crouched on the ground waiting for the footsteps that followed her. Just like she had predicted, she heard them run towards the alley. The footsteps stopped, just behind where she hid.
