My Mistake

Due to the lack of sleep, Maya woke up with panda eyes the next day. Her mother frowned at her appearance when she came down for breakfast. She tsked, " Why don't you put on some makeup ? You are working now, you do realize that right?"

Maya just stuck her tongue out at her mother and hugged and kissed her dad. " Good morning Papa, have a good day at work today," she greeted him with her best smile.

Her dad smiled over his tea and spoke, " Good morning darling. My daughter looks beautiful without makeup." Maya beamed with pride. She was always her daddy's princess. She was never reprimanded by her dad or her brothers, only her mother was averse to her charms.

"Why were u at Aunt's place yesterday after work? Who dropped you there?" inquired her mother. " He is a colleague, I didn't want to give him our house address" she stuttered. She was still shaken by the kiss.

She was not a novice to kissing. She had 2 boyfriends during her uni life, though it never worked out because they were only after her money and family. Hence why she decided to hide her family history from her employers and coworkers.

She wanted to be known as Maya Manick PhD, not Maya Manick, Director and Shareholder of Manick Enterprises. But Lucas' kiss was different from the ones she experienced before. It made her heart race and her cheeks burn just by thinking about it.

" Why are u smiling like a fool?" asked her mother with a raised eyebrow. " Nothing. I am not smiling," denied Maya as she ran from there to get a ride to work with her brother Ash.

They sped through the city in his Bugatti Veyron. He loved driving with the top down. Maya protested, she neither wanted her hair to look like a bird's nest nor be recognised by anyone at work. Ash conceded to his sister, as always.

She kissed his cheeks before getting down. She smiled to herself while walking towards the elevator. She was oblivious to the fact that the man who disturbed her sleep last night saw her get down from the Bugatti after kissing an unknown man. Maya looked more like their father and Ash like their mother hence no one believed they were siblings.

Lucas who lurked in the corner had a thunderous expression on his face. He was fuming just thinking of another man kissing her. He was shocked by the sudden wave of possessiveness in him. It was such a foreign feeling. He never felt that way about a woman before.

He suppressed the feeling and decided it was dangerous if he allowed it to surface. He knew the kiss yesterday was a rash mistake on his part. He couldn't resist after seeing her stare at him with her beautiful chocolate brown eyes. She had the most mesmerizing eyes. They sparkled like stars.

He was dumbstruck the first moment he saw her. She was a fair, curvy beauty with luscious black curls and a cute button nose. She had a beauty spot just above her lips adding to her sultriness.

Lucas arrived at the office wearing a royal blue shirt which highlighted his fair skin and made him look like a prince. Maya just happened to be walking back to her room after the briefing by Christopher. She was intently looking at the report without realizing she bumped into something hard.

More like someone hard, she had her palm still on his chest as she looked up at him. He looked furious and she instantly backed away whilst apologizing.

He was so cold that she shuddered involuntarily. He just walked into his office wordlessly and she walked away after regaining her composure. She sat behind her desk wondering why he looked so angry.

He was cold towards her yesterday as well but he was not blatantly angry. Today he seemed furious. She brushed aside her thoughts about him but not before remembering how hard his chest muscles felt. She suddenly had a naughty thought of wanting to see him shirtless.

She blushed at her promiscuity and shook all naughty thoughts out of her head. She wondered if he would ever talk to her about the kiss yesterday or if she should initiate the conversation. Putting all thoughts of him on the back burner she sloughed through her work.

She had a lot on her itenary today as she had meetings outside the office as well. She finished her meeting at 1 pm and her stomach growled lightly reminding her to have lunch. She remembered her brother Ray was talking about a meeting nearby her office last night.

She decided to call him out for lunch. Ray answered his sister's call smiling. " Hi sis, what can I do for you," he inquired sweetly. " Have lunch with me," she commanded sweetly. He sent away his associates and met her at the restaurant beneath her office in 20 minutes.

She had gone ahead and ordered all their favorite dishes. The restaurant was another designer glass concept where everything from the walls, tables and chairs were see through glass. She picked a spot near the front so that he could find her easily.

As she was dining and laughing at her jokester brother, Lucas walked into the same restaurant with Mark and Harry. He frowned when he saw her with another man eating and laughing. He was unsure if it was the same guy who dropped her off.

Harry who noticed Maya walked up with the rest and greeted her. When they noticed Ray, they were stunned. Ray, CEO of MKR Corp. one of the largest real estate corporations in M country. Harry was flabbergasted, he had only seen Ray on the cover of Forbes but never in person.

Mark and Harry started picking Ray's brains whilst complimenting his success. He was answering them respectfully as they were much older than him. Lucas just stood in the back staring at Maya expressionlessly.

Maya felt uncomfortable under his intense gaze. Lucas suddenly spoke for the first time. " How do you know Maya?" he asked a bit too suddenly. Ray looked at him skeptically and smiled at Maya. Maya didn't want anyone to know of their relation hence she lied immediately," We were high school friends." Ray chuckled at his sister's stubbornness and continued, " She is my favorite Girl."

Harry and Mark automatically came to the assumption that they were dating. Maya glared at Ray while he just snickered. The three men excused themselves and went into the restaurant to find their table.

" Why in the world did you do that for?!" asked Maya exasperatedly. " Now everyone is going to assume you are my boyfriend!" she whined. " Let them, that way they won't think of wooing you. I need to protect my only sister," said Ray with an angelic face.

Maya could never stay angry at Ray. She just rolled her eyes and smiled while passing him his favorite dishes as they continued their meal. Lucas could see them clearly through the glass walls. He could see Ray feeding her and wiping her face after.

He then gave her a hug and kiss before leaving. Maya left soon after. Lucas couldn't concentrate on the meeting at all. His mind kept going back to her and the man she was with. He vowed to find out everything about this guy.

Maya returned to the office and was in a conference with Alex and some Germans when Lucas knocked on the door and said he needed Maya for a minute. He had a blank face, so Maya couldn't decipher the tsunami brewing beneath.

The minute Maya walked into his office he caged her against the wall. She gasped in surprise and panicked at his sudden behavior. " Everyone can see us through the glass!" she stuttered. " I think I know how to make my glass opaque when I need to," he stated calmly.

Opaque glass? Why was it clear all these while then? Thought Maya to herself. She didn't realize while she was in her own head he had inched closer to her face. Only when she felt his warm breath on her face did she wake up from her own thoughts.

" Why did you do that yesterday?" squeaked Maya while she looked at his lips so close to hers. She wished to move that tiny distance to feel his lips on her again but she didn't dare.

" Why? Well I don't know. It was my mistake. Forget it," he said coldly. It was like a bucket of ice water had been poured down her spine. Maya jerked back and pushed his arms aside.

" Why did you need to see me? What is it?" She asked professionally. She felt her heart constrict in her chest but she didn't let it show on her face. He was stunned by her sudden change and cold demeanor. He realized his mistake.

He frowned at his own jealousy and anger which made his spout out that lie. He had been thinking of kissing her ruby lips from the time he set eyes on her. Even as he looked down at her in his arms a while ago he wished so much to kiss her till she was breathless.

He held her close to him. She tried escaping his grasp but it was futile as he was much stronger than her. " I am sorry I didn't mean it that way. I was angry about something else," he apologized softly. She was stunned by the sudden change in his mood.

She stopped fidgeting in his arms. "I have wanted to kiss you since the first time I set my eyes on you. I want to kiss you right now," he whispered right next to her ear. He then nipped her earlobe. The sensation made her close her eyes and unconsciously lean back into him. He smiled at her reaction and started kissing the back of her ears, slowly trailing feather kisses down her neck till he reached her shoulder.

She was tickled by the light sensation of his lips on her skin, at the same time she wanted more. She tried turning in his arms. He chuckled at her eagerness towards him. He was beaming with pride internally as he saw the effects he had on her.

He turned her around and ravished her lips. He pressed her against the wall and held her in place as he stole her breath away. He bit and tugged at her lower lip, making her gasp in pain while he thrusts his tongue and tasted every corner of her mouth.

Her lips were swollen and red from the kisses when he finally released her to breathe. Her cheeks were flushed and she had a tiny love bite he had placed behind her ear. He supported her in his arms as she breathed heavily. The rise and fall of her chest against his was driving him crazy. He wished he could just whisk her back to his place.
