51 Behind the scenes

-_-_-_-_-_Rose's Perspective-_-_-_-_

"Well, what do we have here?"

Through the cameras stealthily built in around the facility, I was able to safely observe a group of children battling against the mutant beast guarding the laboratory.

Although the facility itself was designed to be the main entrance of the research complex of the S.P.E.C.T.R.E., the core of the building lies underneath through a hidden passage from where I cater most of the documents and blueprints of our studies.

The crater, which serves as the overall terrain around the research centre, was brought by a meteor of some sort dated from the year 1321. Through the rummage documents and studies found from the granite, we've discovered that the rock itself came from outer space, light years away from our solar system.

One of our researchers, Polo Uy, was given the chance to conduct the said research. Amongst the three main scientists, he was the right hand of Dr.Turner; the person who had produced a wonder drug out from the parasitic plant known as the Ophiocordyceps unilateralis. However, the ingredients used was not only from the plant, but from the granite itself. Half of the components were reproduced through sheer work counted from the course of 600 hundred years. The DNA samples were so complex that most of the scientist had soon gave up continuing the research. Despite these circumstances, a group of three researchers had managed to crack the code needed for the medicine, granting most healing effects inside the organs of the body.

I, being the secretary and assistant of Turner had witnessed the overall effect of the drug. It was when Dr. Newton's daughter had miraculously picked herself up from a vegetative state—from which was being slowly consumed by the deadly cancer cells. With a single dosage of the drug, she immediately risen from her bed and woke up from her terrible slumber.

Even so, a mistake had been made during the process of reproducing the said medicine.

Alice Newton, Jame's daughter and our patient, was inexplicably cured from the drug because of her unique formation of DNA strands and disruptive cells living inside her degenerating body.

The wonder drug, as we all know, terminates any harmful cells living inside an organism. It composes compound chemical mixtures that also enables the brain to be fully functional—by overriding the neurological system to 100% power.

Humans can only use 10% of the brain's capability, although there are some cases that it had exceed or be inferior from the like, these was still the common knowledge portrayed in the human body as of from the earlier days. However, Dr.Turner's profound studies lead to him glimpsing on the power that we humans were truly capable of; maximising our strength by 30%, 40%, and even to 50% of the brain's prowess. Although he had wanted to achieve a much greater feat than half from what he had made, it was still an innovation to improve the said theory for the next generations to come.

His classmates since college, James Newton and Claire Wattson, wholeheartedly cooperated with his research. Their IQ had exceeded far beyond the famous scientist, Albert Einstein, and that was the biggest pride they have obtained during the course of years here in the Spectre's company.

In spite of the wonder drug, the exposure resulted in a catastrophe. All deceased organism, much like from the parasitic plant itself, had reanimated the dead cells inhabiting the body, creating massive amounts of mindless organisms famished from their natural resources and nutrients for their body. Despite their organism being shatter, exposed, decayed, and dismembered, as long as the brain of the organisms' resides the whole body will always crawl back to life.

This was evident from a laboratory experiment number 3 where we had tried reviving the bedridden Alice and a random corpse that we had obtained. Even before the drug was exposed, experiment number 3-2, the deceased person, suddenly jerked just moments after being exposed from the medicine. However, experiment number 3-1, Alice's daughter, had shown no results. Due to the reanimation of the living dead, James had received a mutation…

And the whole laboratory had fell into smithereens.

Alice, however, had survived the cataclysm; but nobody knows where she is lurking right now.

And the last time I saw was…

A video that was recorded from the camera which had alerted my miniature gadget, which was able to discern all technological concerns, especially from the security measures of the cameras installed around the building. In the video, a little girl had managed to survive, unscathed, despite the falling residue bounded from the burning facility. Her physique were similar from Newton's daughter, and the clothes she worn, although tattered, were alike just before we had placed her in the experiment room. She didn't show any signs of hostility neither mutation from the image. She was the ordinal girl strong enough to be able to walk around the scorching environment.

Just as I was about to store the data from the recordings, the camera had crashed and deleted all of the saved files contained from the laboratory; and the only way that we can ever retrieved the corrupted files from the camera was to derive the reserved data onto the second main branch recreated by the director, Turner, near Tokyo. One of the branches of the secondary facility also resides here in Japan, hence the Okinawa Research Facility, disguised as the museum to round up tourists and help the economy of the country of Japan, which also helps upon the alliance with Spectre and its current prime minister, Shin Akai.

Which was coincidentally my step-father.

I was taken by Andrew Turner to his research lab and gave me shelter from the apocalyptic spread from the entire world. Fortunately speaking, I was stationed here at the branch and…

Ended up supervising 7 people in hand. Although Dr.Turner hadn't ordered me anything other than to observe their movements, I had the urge to search for their identifications.

Paul Andrews- A man wearing a military uniform

Clinton Musk- A boy just around his twenties

Rogh Fischbach- A sailor or a captain, which I was basing from his appearance

Ai Kanata- A random citizen found in the city of Okinawa

Sakura Kanata- an older woman residing in the city of Okinawa

Yoshi Matsuoka- A single dad living in the city of Okinawa

Basically, three people who are citizens of Japan, and another 3 foreigner from another country. But why would Andrew Turner hid these people here inside the laboratory?

I wasn't allowed to interact with them nor provide them anything other than food and water (for their hygienic purposes). Despite being imprisoned, they were not treated badly from our services, instead secluded from the freely moving outside their cells.

The moment I've seen those children fighting from the surface, I was surprised to hear that 3 of these people were their lost parents hidden in our dungeon. Although I had broken the rules Andrew Turner had given me, I had found a viable research sample of the kid who was bitten by a zombie and deliver this specimen to Turner himself—making him the next test subject experiment #3.

"Mgmh" A searing pain electrified my body, and the first thing I became aware of was the roaring sound of an engine working continuously above my head. While a pair of footsteps seems to be approaching towards my direction, I remained still and wary from the echoes of their conversation.

"Rose, this is the girl whom Turner has been talking about. We cannot let her go!"

"Polo, I know you're worried about your wife. But killing a child just because of something…selfish isn't the right thing to do."

"I know…but I'm running out of options. You know how Andrew works? I've seen his sinister smile!"

"And so do I"

Her voice trails off to a distant, as they leave their heavy conversation aside. Moreover, a man named 'Polo' seems to be acquainted with the person whom had started all of this plague

Although I am presently awake, I did not dare to move a muscle from where I am resting, and continued my act. It appears that they still haven't noticed my scheme as I laid my body flat on the metallic bed.

"How is she?"

"Her vital signs are stabilised"

"Her deformities?"

"All aligned like nothing had ever happened"

"Strange. 2 hours ago she was twisted and turned like a rubber band. But now…"

Recalling correctly the memories from before, we were sandwiched by zombies on each of our sides.

However, after seeing Dr. James hurdle its way and wrestled the mutated reptile, my feet resigned on the floor. Up until now, I didn't noticed anything at the seams that my body had been overused. All the energy stored within my muscles escaped out from my body as I succumb myself from the unbearable fatigue aching throughout my upper and lower limbs. From the scene that I've witnessed, the battle had already been won.

And the last thing I know, my whole body borrowed down in a deep state of slumber.

"Rose, I'll contact Dr. Turner right away and inform him that the girl is her—"

"Wait…Please. Let's just think this through. Together"
