8 Bad Omen

"O-oopsies~" With a faint laugh, Clinton started trembling once again. This time, he had finally lost his mind. I mean, he did create this miserable event where all of us would be dying pretty much shortly.

LIKE HELL I WOULD WANT THAT!

"CLINT, PURA! RUN!" I shouted while paying no mind from the zombies who had long before noticed our group.

Finally coming out from his senses, Clinton grabs Pura and dashes off straight towards my direction; heading for the van.

Luckily, those Zombies were pre-occupied at first from the bottle we had thrown awhile back, creating a distant space between us and these crazy beasts. Despite our favourable circumstances, the whole horde twitched their back, glancing towards the two prey who were running for their lives. Without a moment to spare, I too sprinted my way forward and desperately allowed my small fingers to tightly grip the unlocked door.

"Gaah!"

Blessed with an immeasurable reflexive ability, I secured the door from the other side, whilst constantly searching for the keys from every container available inside.

"Come on, come on, come on, please!" Hastily, but not panicking, I dived my way inside, monitoring the situation through the glass windows, while thoroughly locating the metallic key needed to spark up the car.

I don't know if my life had been going to a turmoil-like rollercoaster, where every occurrence had been steadily leading me to either uncountable demise or a wishful future. It was either and neither. Truly ironic, I would say. If I were to die right now, inside a random guy's car, please let me have a boyfriend just this once. I haven't experienced this whole 'romance' thing from all my life. The last thing that I could remember, which was closest to having a normal teenage crush, would be me giggling while wishing to be known from these boy-band group from the Asian territories. It was a spectacular dream being able to listen from these hot superstars and--

Am I going to die right now? You know, people say that if you're nearly touching your death, you'll be seeing these memories of yours from the past. PLEASE, I CAN NOT POSSIBLY DIE!

As if some random god had listened to my humongous rant, my wish had been granted quite unexpectedly. Both Pura and Clinton had entered the car, locked the door, and managed to dive themselves in, similar to what I had in mind.

Of course. Usually, if bad things started to happen, good events are sure to come by, followed by the next bad omen itself, and this was the perfect example of the looped de loop of sarcasm established within my life.

"Y-you guys made it safe," I said in a terrified tone

"You even brought your friends with you, Clint"

"Oh, shut up smarty pants. If you are a guy, I'll hit your face right here, right now!" He said as we lamented on the disrupting zombie, thrashing on the brittle window.

"I've found the key!"

"AAAAAAH"

"Then what the hell are you even doing? STEP ON THE GAS."

Despite the constant shouts and screams by Pura and Clinton, I soon hurriedly inserted the key into the car and abruptly hit the paddles with all my might. The van itself progresses onward, crashing towards the nearby zombies blocking our way. Our main goal will be charging towards the outside road, traversing on the curved pavement which will lead us out on the delightful surface.

I'm currently stirring the wheels, avoiding every pesky obstacle against our path. Much to my surprise, there were dozens of them out there, walking alongside the curve, which made our lives more difficult than we had ever accomplished inside the hellish building.

I was reminded from my elementary years where my mum had brought us out for a day off to a cool amusement park called… I forgot the name, but

There I was, me and my dad, hanging out for a ride called "bumper cars". Both of my parents had successfully persuaded me to try one of those great rides provided by the amusement park itself, and as a kid, I wouldn't have enjoyed a single ride due to those elastic days which had long lost pass. But, if I could recall correctly, there was this ride that had indulged me from reminiscing the details, especially which I'm driving right now.

"Bumper cars" yeah, exactly that ride. They both yelled, "FLEUR IF YOU CAN RIDE these BUMPER CARS YOU'LL BE ABLE TO RIDE A REAL CAR" and guess what, it didn't felt the same, especially from the wild zombies from everywhere, attempting to destroy the exterior parts of our car. Reliving the past, this would have been the most intense driving lessons that I could ever obtain from the infected up ahead.

Lost in thought, I had managed to exert my tremendous effort of avoiding, racing, and even bending the wheels itself, much like from an actual racing car played inside those cool retro games.

"You're good at this!" Clinton commented on my ridiculed driving skills.

"Of course! She's my friend, after all!" Way to go Pura, boosting my confidence. All of your life depends on mine. If we'd crash in the nearest cliff, I'll be collecting all of your souls.

Eventually, the long road had finally paved out and the horrifying night had greeted our eyes. The streets were nearly voided of life. The only remains left from the empty streets were the abandoned cars, fallen street lamps, and decomposed fleshes nested with parasytes crawling from their ashes. That must've been the people running around, escaping their dark fate which had long devoured them.

It was a brutal sight. Apart from the moon that dazzles a dim light, Kingston Street, which was supposed to be as lively as ever, had been torn apart by the messy surroundings and the walkers passing by. Still, we are obliged to advance forth towards wherever the hell we presume to go.

"Change of plans. We'll be doing a small detour around. I think the "Prime Harbour" might provide us some sort of security from marine delicacies, instead of grains and crops we had first thought about" I'd say, while continuously bypassing numerous infected individuals catching our tail. One great halt will enable them to grasp our behind and later on chew our living daylight.

"Are you sure, Fluer?" Pura, who was seated at the far end of the car, throws me a question.

She's our main resource management inside our team. To put it this way

Pura, similar to what we had before, will be monitoring the resources of the entire group. She'll be the wisest among saving foods and other supplies.

Clinton will be our 'engineer', focusing more on the utilities used within the group. His knowledge is vast enough to cope with the electronic stuff which I and Pura had always been suffering to learn since the beginning of mankind. He's also our medical man, preventing the accumulation of certain diseases obtainable in hand while stitching up the gravest wounds that would be occurring on the later dates.

As for myself, I'll be handling whatever what's left in the stash. I have no idea other than snatching up things which prove to be useful in awkward circumstances, formulating a plan and well, a representative if we'll be stumbling upon lost survivors, negotiating about possible benefits and such.

These are the assigned roles given from each of our perspectives, I guess?

Anyhow, the next goal that we have in mind would be residing ourselves near the harbour, where schools of fish and yachts are readily available to steal…er, I mean, use, during these crises. What's better than a free yacht and a restaurant available at our hands, right?

Besides, the owners of these extravagant supplies are long gone, dead, and I hereby transfer their belongings to our group. Their sacrifices will be forever in our hearts. Long live our nation. LONG LIVE AMER…

"Hey, what's that?" Pura points out a house that was surrounded by zombies. The residence seemed to be built firmly with fine cement at a distance.

'If that goes on, the whole house will be destroyed' I murmured. With the looks of it, the zombies from afar had not yet noticed our mobile car, which was adjacent on the same road from the tormented home.

"Is that a girl?!" Pura leaps from behind and forcibly snuck herself, breadths away from both of our cheeks.

"Yeah, it looks like it. I think that's a mother protecting her only living daughter." Clinton added with a hint of remorse in his voice.

"Are we…going to help them?" Pura asked.
