34 Island Paradise Part 5

The clanging of undead fists upon the steel door behind them become more insistent as if the zombies could smell their fear. "Fuck! Zombies or beast we have to choose." Drew said. "We either stay in the base and hope the beast cannot get in and take our chances with the zombies or we go outside and take our chances with the beast."

"Terry does not like those odds!" Terry shouted. Terry picked up one of the guns that had been supplied to them from their mysterious employer. "Terry would rather shoot slow moving zombies than a beast that can rip through steel."

"I agree with Terry." Sam said as she picked up another rifle. "We have better odds against the zombies."

Drew looked and noticed there were no more guns. "Where is my gun?" Drew asked. "Don't I get a gun too? Did they only give us two guns?!"

"Apparently yes, they only gave us two." Sam said. "Here's the plan Drew, your chance to save the day. Considering how you are the one who got us into this mess I know you will be more than happy to do this. You get to act as bait and run around letting the zombies chase you. Terry and I will shoot the zombies from behind cover."

"But…" Drew started to protest.

"Terry likes this plan!" Terry shouted. "Good luck Drew, don't get bitten, but if you do Terry promises you a swift death."

"Great." Drew sighed, knowing he had no right to protest. "You two go to cover and please don't shoot me."

"Terry won't miss." Terry said in response. "Unless you get bitten, then Terry will shoot."

"I get it," Drew said as he walked toward the steel door with the Nazi zombie horde on the other side. He could hear their moans and guttural growls from beyond the door. The door was beginning to come unhinged from all the banging. "Get ready guys, the door is about to open."

"Alright!" Sam said as she set a camera up to record the events.

"Are you going to film this?" Terry asked, surprised.

"Yeah, not for the show though, just my own personal collection." Sam smiled. "Next time Drew pisses me off I can just sit back, pop some popcorn and watch him run for his life."

"Damn girl." Terry said. "You are scary sometimes."

"Hell, hath no fury, Terry, Hell hath no fury." Sam replied.

The two of them aimed their sights at the door and in a matter of moments the door flung open and a horde of zombies poured through. "Shit!" Drew screamed as he ran from his life, the zombies running closely behind him. "Shoot them!" He shouted to his friends, "please shoot them!"

Terry and Sam waited a moment as they were enjoying letting Drew suffer for a bit. Eventually when they decided that he had enough they opened fire. The pop-pop-pop of the assault rifles was music to Drew's ears. He could hear the zombies falling to the ground behind him. They were tripping over the ones who got shot in the front. After several minutes of running for his life he heard silence, no shuffling behind him nor the popping of gunfire. "Is it over?" He said as he turned around to see the corpses of the Nazi zombies littering the ground. "Holy shit!" He shouted. "You guys did it!"

"Hell yeah!" Terry celebrated. "Terry the zombie slayer! That's my new name, don't forget it Drew."

"Hey, I like Sam the zombie slayer." Sam said.

"We can both use it." Terry said nodding in agreement.

"Fine work being bait Drew!" Sam shouted.

"So, are you still mad at me?" Drew asked.

"Yes!" Sam replied. "But you made some progress."

A loud roar just outside the walls echoed through their ears. The massive steel gate at the entrance of the base began to be hit by some massive force, as if it was attempting to enter.

"So, guys, I say we go back downstairs now." Drew said. "I think we got all the zombies, it should be safe now. A lot safer than up here anyway."

"Terry agrees." Terry said. "Terry wants no part with whatever is beyond that gate."

"Well let's go!" Sam said as she started down the stairs.

Drew was the last one down and he picked up the broken door on the ground and leaned it against the opening, hoping to provide at least a tiny bit of camo against the beast. They met back up in the room with the circle on the ground. This time Sam brought the camera with them.

Drew was still breathing hard from his run. "So, did any of you grab some water by chance?" He asked sitting on the ground to rest.

Terry reached into his pocket and pulled out a canteen of water. "Here, you earned it." He said as he tossed it over to Drew. Good work running for your life like that, reminded Terry of a white Terry."

"Thanks?" Drew questioned as he opened his water. He quickly drank his fill and closed the canteen. So, guys I am pretty much out of ideas at this point. Everything I do just brings more problems, so please, what do you think we should do now?"

"The zombies had to come from somewhere down here." Sam said. "There were at least a hundred of those undead suckers so I would assume this is a fairly large facility. We should explore it in hopes of finding more information on whatever that beast is."

"Terry agrees." Terry said. "But Terry also thinks we should get paid for this shit, so start your show up Mr. Host man and let's get some green from all this suffering."

"Guys." Drew said tearing up. "Alright let's do this!" Drew jumped to his feet and wiped his face with his sleeve. "Turn on the camera Sam, let's start this show!"

Sam picked up the camera and hoisted it onto her shoulder. She made her necessary adjustments and did a countdown for Drew. The show was about to begin.
