35 Rian’s Journey Home

'Is this really the right thing to do?' I thought to myself. It was early in the morning, Cecilia was sound asleep. I've already gone this far, no point in stopping now. I folded my blankets and picked up the metal ball and quietly left the room. She might worry if I just disappeared so I stole a piece of paper from that run down church we were at yesterday and wrote a message for her. "Excuse me? Could you give this letter to the girl in room 4, her name is Cecilia." I handed the paper to the receptionist. "Sure, did you leave a name?" The sun had started rising, I quickly scribbled down my name. I had accidentally written my full name so I just smudged it. After that, I ran out of the inn. If I remember correctly, Cecilia woke up in this world on a cliff, I ran the the nearest cliff. By the time I got there, the sun had fully risen, I'm gald she tends to sleep in. I took a deep breath and jumped when the metal ball shone blue.

...

"Vale! Can you hear me?! Wake up! Valerian!" I woke up. A white bed, I was at a hospital. "Morning, what happened?" I asked. "You were in a coma for three days!" Weird, so my body was in two places simultaneously? "Hey, Cecilia, you know..." "You know what?" She asked. "Nothing, never mind." I'd rather keep it a secret. 'The girl I met in that world really looks like a grown up version of Cecilia, they even have the same name! Also, how did she get that metal ball? I was sure it exploded when I was experimenting on it, I was very worried I wouldn't be able to return to this world. But, I feel bad for stealing it even though I created it. I wonder if she'll even be able to return to this world without it.
