43 Part time job

Early next morning, I went back to the church. I was spreading out the fabric I washed yesterday over the chairs when a girl spotted me. She barely made eye contact, then ran away as if she saw a monster. 'What's was that for?' I continued what I was doing. Within an hour, there was a huge crowd of people gathered at the church. I got a bit worried so I walked outside. As people saw me everyone looked the same way the girl did, like I was a monster. Then some started bowing down and praying. 'What the heck!?' "Since when did everyone become so interested in this abandoned church?" I asked. "Huh? You're not a ghost!?" I touched the wall to prove I was human. "Why would I be a ghost?" "Because there were so many ghost sightings at this church we were forced to go against the law and abandon it."

'Basically, this place is haunted? I was here the whole yesterday, and I didn't spot anything suspicious. Are the sightings fake?' "Who reported seeing ghosts?" A girl stepped forward. 'Oh, the girl from earlier. I'm sorry, but I'm going to be a bit mean.' "Can you describe the ghost?" "Uh.. She looked a lot like you, with long black hair and a white dress." "You're lying, ghosts don't have forms. An actual ghost would look more like a floating light." "Well.. Um.. I think the figure was glowing, a bit?" The girl nervously replied. "You fell for it. I lied, and by changing your answer you proved you were lying." If she was telling the truth, then she would have denied it, even if she was a bit unsure. Since it was something she reported seeing multiple times, she should've been somewhat confident in her answer. The girl pushed her way out of the crowd and ran.

"So the sighting were a lie? Should we reopen this church then?" 'I wasn't able to ask why the girl lied.' "Miss nun, since you helped repair this church would you mind becoming the church's abbess?" 'Since when did I become a nun?' "Alright, I gladly accept." 'So I don't have to be acknowledged by anyone to become an abbess? At least now I won't be kicked out of the town. I wonder if it's okay for me to also work at the adventurers guild.' The townspeople provided me a nun's outfit along with this world's version of the bible. As the church's caretaker, I was expected to live besides the church. The townspeople acted so respectful towards me I felt a bit bad. 'They would probably be very disappointed if they found out I didn't even know anything about this world's religion.' I ended up reading the whole 'bible' in a day out of guilt.
