57 Jinxed

'Well, sorry for being a jinx.' Immediately after I thought it was a stupid idea to ring a bell as the queen stepped onto the stage, I was proven right. Guards rushed in front of the queen, but it was too late. It all happened so fast I only realized it was over when I head the sound of blood splattering. The queen had been assassinated.

Chase, who was standing on the stage, rushed forward and swung a sword at one of the assassins while his guard was down. He missed by an inch, but sliced his mask in half. It had been so long I had almost forgotten her face, Kiyo's face. One of the assassins was Kiyoshi. It all started making sense. The reason why she never showed her face, why she refused to introduce herself and why she had entered the competition with Chase. I felt idiotic. Why hadn't I questioned it when Chase told me his friend's name was Kiyoshi?

I remembered the wanted poster. Does that poster relate to the reason why Kiyo assassinated the queen? I still had many loose ends. I looked up at the stage again, Kiyo and the other assassins had gotten away. I plugged my ears and squeezed myself out of the crowd. The queen's body was taken away immediately and hundreds of soilders ran in the direction the assassins went. I saw two people I knew, the prince was being escorted into the castle and Chase was following the soilders. I needed to meet up with someone I knew, I wouldn't be able to contact Chase if he left his current address so I choose to run after him.
