12 Chapter twelve

"Why are sitting here alone by the pond of big fish?" Daphne asked, sometimes I wonder if she is already using me or simply an honest five-year-old. "I came to understand something very complex, it would be hard to explain," I say truthfully. It was hard to explain to a five-year-old about feelings of fear. Fear of losing all you have. Daphne seemed quiet as if she was stuck on how to continue.

"How did you like the cake?" I asked her trying to lead the conversation away. "It was super duper delicious, I had the confetti and a small piece of vanilla, Mother always tells me to not eat too much because I get fat, but it is too good to leave," She rambled on. The maturity which I had noticed before left and she went back to a small five-year-old with the brain size of a pea. I giggled. It was too adorable not to.

"Father always says I will get bad teeth if I eat too much," I said softly hearing her giggles made me throw another giggle fit as well. "Hey, you know what, if you come over for a tea party I can eat as much cake as I like, so next week come over!" Daphne said excitedly.

I smiled, "I can do you one better, you come over to my house, there is no one when my dad's at work," I felt like a big sister comforting a child. "Sure, send me an invitation, I'll being Astoria as well," She giggled.

It was a good idea to make friends especially with people like Daphne, she was influential, smart and adaptable to situations. She also does not voice her dislike for 'lesser blood' in the open.

"Why are you too all huddled up here?" Daphne and I turn around the same time, the boy of the party Draco Malfoy stood there with a crowd of smaller children. "We were just talking-" before I could finish my sentence I heard Daphne's clear voice interrupting me.

"Pansy became my friend and I am invited to her Mansion," Daphne said in a haughty voice. I saw Draco's face distort with anger. He glared at me, I could feel that I was not going to like whatever he had to say next.

"Why do you invite her before me, besides we are better friends! We held our birthday's together," Draco said offended by my audacity to not invite him first. "She actually invited me to her house first but I suggested mine to not burden her parents," I quickly reply, it was not needed to make enemies already. Draco seemed less made but still not satisfied. I know he was too proud to ask to be invited directly so I had no choice but to invite him.

"You are welcome to come to my mansion as well, Draco," I say kindly with a soft smile. I see his ears turn a soft shade of pink, " I'll come to visit you next Wednesday," Draco huffed "That's perfectly splendid," I sweet coat.

"I also want to be invited,"

"Yeah me too!"

"I'd love to see you mansion as well Pansy!"

All the children behind Draco started screaming about wanting to be invited. I knew I was going to hate myself in future but I could, not invite them that would be rude to their family's. "You are all invited next Friday at two o'clock for a small gathering," I say "I'll have invitations send by tomorrow," I quickly ad before they could act up again.

they all seemed pleased with my answer and I felt the cold sweat on my back drip down and my raised heartbeat become steady. "Look the fish are playing Blitz!" Daphne gushed. All the children rushed towards the pond and crouched down to watch. I did as well and looked at the same fish doing nothing special. "How about we play Blitz!" Millicent Bulstrode suggested. I felt the need to push her in the water but held myself in.

before I could prepare myself mentally I felt a push as Draco screamed: "Pansy is the Blitzer! Run!" I stood up and started running after Millicent as payback for suggesting to play this game. Blitz was exactly like tag only for wizarding children. I gave Millicent a hard tap and rushed away from her toward Daphne who was all giggles.

the rest of the night concluded with running children laughing and adults having adult talks.
