10 Chapter ten

Narcissa led us inside the mansion to the children room, inside the room it was filled with children. Pansy could immediately identify Daphne Greengrass but her platinum hair her little sister sat next to her, unlike her older sister she had brown hair. Narcissa softly pushed us both in the room before leaving. As I watched the door close I felt all eyes turn in our direction. I had not spoken to any of these children, at parties I would usually stick to my father and have him do the talking.

Draco walked towards one of the fluffed white chairs with confidence and sat down, all the children around him crowded around to talk to him. I took this chance and walked out of side to one of the chairs in the corner. However as luck would have it I did not get far.

I was halfway when Daphne Greengrass called me to join the circle. "Pansy Parkinson, Draco is about to open his gift as the birthday girl you should join, I'd love to see what you got," Daphne said slyly. As if it was in her blood. She just made it impossible for me to hide in the corner. I took a deep breath and smiled while walking in her direction.

All the children moved aside to make space for me, I sat down on the empty chair right next to Draco's and looked carefully while he opened the gift he had gotten from his aunt. He untied the ribbon on top of the small box and lifted the lid. Inside the box was a small note and a silver broomstick. I looked over Draco's shoulder and read the note.

'For my dearest Draco,

two taps on the side of the broomstick and a pen will come out,

from your dearest aunty,

Bella'

what I noticed first was that Draco seemed estatic at the gift and the second thing I noticed was that the gift was signed by Bellatrix and not by Rodolphus. It was clear the relationship between Bellatrix and her husband was just like the books. Bellatrix had no interest in him and he did not have any interest in her. They were merely married for convenience.

I felt the Augurey in my hand moving around I put the book on my lap and held the bird with both hands keeping him in place. Maybe it was a good idea to start thinking about a name for the Irish phoenix.

It would be better to find a name soon so that I don't have to call the Augurey a bird, or Irish phoenix or Augurey anymore. It would make it way easier and I heard that giving a name to you magical beast in the Fantastic beast helps give them a sense of familiarity and comfort. trust even if the little guy gets used to it.

"Pansy what did you get as a gift from Mrs Lestrange?" Daphne asked after the whole lot started asking Draco about his gift and how special the girft must be as it was specially grafted. I gave her a smile, as a reflex and held up my hand showing off the Augurey.

"An Augurey a magical bird which fortells rain with their screams, but by the looks of it. It won't be raining this fine evening," I say, in the hopes of getting the fake pretence that these creatures were a sigh of death out of the minds.

"Oh... how fascinating," Daphne said trying to be polite but I knew that none of the children liked the appearance of the bird. Nor the fake stigma that comes along with it. I didn't bother showing them the book I received along with it and just gave a smile while stirring the conversation else where.

"Daphne, I heard you younger sister has come along with you, is she here?" I ask as if I did not already know the answer. Daphne nodded and called out to Astoria who came out behind Daphne.

I sighed a heave of relieve as the conversation went away from me and turned to the Greengrass's and the illness Astoria is conflicted with. I felt a tinge of guilt using her as a way to get out of a conversation but I just shook it off.

I opened my splinter new book and planned to read my way through to the night. I felt a intense stare coming my way and locked eyes with the one and only Draco. Who seemed to analyse me. I gave him a nod before turning back to the pages in the book ignoring the stare.
