11 Chapter eleven

"Make a wish," Narcissa whispered carefully. Draco and I stood next to each other on two chairs to blow out the candles at the top of the cake. The cake was a big five-layered cake with different flavours. Chocolate, confetti, citrus, cheesecake, vanilla. I didn't know what to wish for but out of obligation I wished for the usual, I hope my family and I stay healthy.

"What slice do you two want," Narcissa said smilingly. She seemed to be very happy, undoubtedly had a soft spot for children. I smiled back, "A chocolate cake please," I acted shyly but on the inside I rolled my eyes at myself, repressing the second-hand embarrassment.

I got a big chunk of cake that I knew would be hard to finish. I turned around and jumped off the chair and searched for father. Among all the people he was with Lucius at the back of the crowd discussing something. I walked towards him with a big chocolate cake and two forks in hand.

The Augurey along with my book was placed in fathers care while I would blow out the candles. As I came to stand in front of them I stretched my arms out to Father, wanting to be picked up. Father let out a soft chuckle and grabbed me from underneath my armpits up in his arms.

I merely kept quiet and at my cake while my father continued talking with Lucius. "It is ridiculous, the filthy mud-bloods who think they can get a position in the ministry," Lucius complained. I flinched at the word mud-blood which made Lucius look at me oddly. Almost as if he knew I was a muggle.

Father quickly interjected before he could think too much of it. "I have not used such language with Pansy yet, she is not used to the swearing,"

"Oswin you should really get her used to it soon, after all, if you do not she might become a sympathizer," Lucius responded. He did not use the word blood traitors out of respect for my father but I could see it was bothering him that I was not used to the swear words.

"I know, I am planning on telling her more about it but so far Pansy has grown up very sheltered by the time she attends Hogwarts she would probably only stick to what she knows and people she knows, so am not too worried," Father said. "Besides if she did she would be sent to Durmstrang immediately,"

Lucius seemed to like that final statement and went back to talking business. Father took a big bite of my cake and gave me a teasing wink while I mindlessly took small bates of my cake. Father would send me away from him and my home to another country because I became a blood traitor. I felt a shiver going down my spine. I had to find a way to not interact with the Golden Trio and still be neutral.

I needed to get away, I signed for Father to let me down which he did, before walk towards the garden where the pond was. It was silent and comforting. To be in silence alone left with thoughts. Father could still see me but not close enough to keep an eye on me. Crouched down to see the fish in the pond which was lighted by a spell.

"Hey," I turned around and saw Daphne Greengrass sit on the grass with me in her azure blue fluffy dress. "Hey,"
