1 Onerous

A white coat embraced the city neither, the sun's warmth could not pierce the cold.

The man had a stern expression, was wearing a suit in the cold climate, and held a briefcase in his hand. He looks up above and felt the cold touch of snowy petals.

"I hate weather like these," he says in a disappointed tone.

The man takes a stroll through the busy streets of the city of Mhediv. He had passed by people selling edible goods, merchandise from another city, or even from another country, but the man was unfazed.

The man had other plans.

Then, he looks at his watch and says, "Oh, would you look at the time? It is time for me to meet her once again. I must haste."

Moments later, he was in front of a big establishment that could accommodate even a thousand patients at a time, an asylum. It is a special place for exceptional individuals that require mental-health assistance.

He looks up with his restless stern eyes and sighs as the cold breeze pass.

"Seint Kveld asylum, another odd job for this freezing gloomy day."

He takes one more puff on his cigar before throwing it and entering the reception hall.

"Good afternoon, dear. Is there anything I can help you with?" asked the lady, who is managing the reception hall.

He slowly raises his ID and a picture of a woman from his pocket.

"Mythos Investigation Bureau, I came here to meet this fair young lady. The information throughout the discussion is classified. Therefore, I want nobody to eavesdrop on us. Guide the way."

The nurse's eyes dilate, "Oh... that woman..."

The nurse directs the man left and right in different directions. It sure was an immense asylum.

Each floor and each room that they pass gets louder and louder. Voices of mad people and the screams of people screaming and fighting echoed throughout the hallway.

They are getting closer to what they seek.

A loud scream echoed throughout the hallways. Nurses standing by rushed to the scene and held back two patients fighting over a doll.

"ENOUGH OF THAT!!!" the nurse was infuriated. Her face reddened in anger, and in turn, both the patients fighting glared at each other.

Both of their eyes say it all, "You're to blame for this."

The female patient let out a frustrated tone of anger, "Maria is MY FRIEND! YOU CAN'T HAVE HER! SHE'S MINE!"

"GIVE...HER...BACK...THIS...INSTANT..." She added.

The other patient walked away with the doll still in her hands. Then, she went to her own respective room.

The enraged patient reached out her hand weeping, "MARIA! Nooo. Let go of me !"

The mad patient seemed to struggle to escape from the tight embrace of the nurse, but gradually it became loose, then finally, she got away.

Enraged, the woman ran after the other patient who took away her doll.

The woman pulled her hair. She had lost her mind and uttered with the utmost vocals that came from the depths of hell.

"Mark my words, I take back whatever is mine! AND YOU! YOU SHALL PAY IT DOUBLE!"

Without hesitating. Multiple staff pinned the mad patient's head to the ground. Not once but twice.

A lethal blow into her head left her bleeding. She was still conscious even though she had received a couple of wounds.

The woman groaned in anguish.

"GIVE HER A SEDATIVE THIS ONCE," shouted the staff.

As the woman injected the syringe into the mad woman's thigh, the sedative quickly went into effect. relaxed the body of the crazy woman. She was then thrown back into her room and the surroundings finally calmed down. One of the nurses walked toward at the man, "We are very sorry for the inconvenience. Please be cautious and maintain your distance from the patient. She is an oddball."

They were talking about the mad woman as if she was an animal kept in a zoo. The man set his foot towards the room, the room was dark due to the windows being covered by newspaper, scratches on the wall were everywhere, furthermore, it was dirty.

Amidst the chaotic surrounding, standing in the middle was a maiden. She had black hair that glittered like high-quality silk woven by the hands of a goddess, she had dark eyes as deep as blackholes that devours worlds, and she had a slender figure yet appealing as if luring the eyes of whoever looked at her.

She is beautiful! Comparable to roses, "Beautiful... But like a beautiful rose she has thorns," Says the man to himself.

The woman reaches out her hands as if reaching out for salvation, "get out... GET OUT... GET OUT" The man knocks at the door to let his presence known. "Sorry for bothering you milady. I've come here to meet you and discuss some things." The lady glances at him and smiles, "You. You want my company and you wish to ask this beautiful lady questions?" The man leans toward the wall, "It was quite a mess you did back there. How have you been?" A sudden change in the woman's demeanor was visible.

"The past has tormented me for ages. I have been simply fleeing from everything that had happened. The screams, the voices of my friends. Everything was hard to bear. For I was young and I had hopes and dreams, everything, everything was shattered, everything turned into a nightmare. Why must fate be cruel to me? I just wanted to live in peace, with my friends, But why must fate take everything from me."

The woman gazed at the man and said, "I just want my doll back, it's all I have left."

the woman hesitated and paused shortly turning her back before letting out her response, "I Uhm... Can we talk about this another day? I don't feel well today."

The man sighed but he was helpless, "Alright young miss if that is your wish, I shall back some other time."

The man leaves the room before taking a last glimpse of the lady then the door cell shuts. he thinks to himself as he walks out looking back at the asylum saying "strange... something feels off I'm sure of it"
