11 Rescue

"Especially without a stake ready at hand."

Luo Yi's insides twisted in primal fear and she reeled back but her movement was limited by the wall behind her.

"I haven't taught you the last point in lesson one, what a lousy teacher I am," He chuckled, smacking his palm on his bald head as if he had forgotten something important.

"Always have a stake ready all the time," He twirled the stake in his hand. The deadly point of the stake swung dangerously close to Luo Yi.

"In order for you to remember it, you have to experience it, don't you think so?"

Luo Yi's body had trembled so hard and she was frozen in fear. Her mind was starting to fall, dead, never kicking into action. She couldn't formulate anything but fear. Every action led to more and more pain and there was no way out.

No.

No!

She shook her head internally, she had to fight back. She quickly ran her eye across every possible escape. Her eye went to the walls, the emergency door, the windows… The windows!

She breathed.

There was a chance.

Falling from this high wouldn't be pleasant, but still better than being here.

She wrapped her fingers around the hilt of her sword and put it in front of her, pointing it at Lucifer.

"I guess we weren't on the same page then," Lucifer shrugged.

Without warning, he lunged forward, appearing in front of Luo Yi's eye. Startled, she swung her sword wildly, slashing at him. He evaded all her attacks and stuck his hand out, grabbing her throat, and lifting her off her feet.

He slammed her hard onto the circular receptionist desk. The wood had cracked under her and another wave of dizziness swarmed her. She laid there, stunned and gasping for breath, and it was all it took for Lucifer to slammed the pointy stake through her stomach. It pierced her from the front and emerged from her back, hitting the wood behind, impaling her.

Luo Yi shrieked. Her body arched up from the immense pain. Her sword fell from her hand, clattering to the floor.

Pain.

It was nothing like she had felt before. Luo Yi had to admit, this pain had a raw quality, a pain knew no end or limit. She could feel the wood inside her when it entered her body. It was like her blood had been pumped with acid. It was hot as if her body was scorched on fire, burning her alive.

The blood in her body seemed to try to reject it, twisting and squeezing all their might until it clodded up in her throat. It didn't take long for her to vomit blood. Her blood burst out of her mouth and spilled down her chin.

Luo Yi went to yank it out, but Lucifer caught her hands and slammed them down onto the wooden desk.

"No, no." He tutted out. "No touching, you need to feel it, My Love."

Luo Yi shrieked and snarled. The blood vessels inside her twisted and more blood clogged up her throat. The fire spread from the wood inside her, moving up and engulfed her body in heat.

She trembled, shaking like a leaf and covered in sweats. Her bangs had stocked themselves onto her face like a second layer of skin.

She vomited more blood and a trail of blood flowed from her nose.

"S-- Stop…" She pleaded. She could taste her own blood inside her mouth, unlike the sweet and delightful taste of blood, it tasted like acid, thick and bitter.

"Shhh… Don't be afraid, you will probably not die for your blood contains Pandora," Lucifer reached his hand out and swiped her bangs off her cheek. "It might just lull you into a long hibernation, but who knows, it was never tested before."

Lucifer gripped the end of the stake and twisted it. "Maybe if you live, you can tell the tale."

Luo Yi screamed and sobbed.

'Fuck! Fuck!'

'It hurts!'

"Does it hurt?" He whispered, yellow eyes gleaming in delight and Luo Yi's body convulsed.

"Are you feeling it? Please enlighten me about it."

Luo Yi could barely focus on what he was saying. Everything hurt and that's all she could think about.

Suddenly a loud bang resonated in the area and faster than ever, Lucifer disappeared from her sight. Something huge and dark had snatched him off her.

Howls and snarls filled the room.

Luo Yi struggled, but her limbs felt sluggish. The blinding agony from her middle had made her think about giving up and sleeping forever. She was literally speared like an animal on the receptionist desks.

However, when she heard loud howls, she forced her eye to open and see what happened. Blurs of dark brown and black flipping each other filled her eye.

Luca?

That's impossible.

He shouldn't be able to shift yet due to the poison.

She had started to doubt it was him but all the thought vanished when she noticed the eyes of this wolf.

It was indigo in color.

And the only color she could see after such a long time.

It was definitely Luca!

This made her spirit return but with the stake lodged inside her stomach, it was difficult to move. It made her limbs weak and unresponsive.

She struggled fiercely and her limbs tremor at that. With a barely coherent mind, she reached down and grabbed the stake, pulling it out with a scream. It tumbled down her limp fingers, spun end over end before rolling away.

Her legs gave out under her, trembling furiously but a whimper woke her up. She raised her head and saw that Luca had been pinned down by Lucifer. He was holding Luca down by his neck and was ready to snap his hind legs.

The whine and whimper coming out of that snout were pitiful in her ears.

"T-- Throw him!"

Luo Yi yelled.

Both of them startled and looked at her.

"Throw him out through the window!"

She gritted her teeth and shouted. In that split moment, Luca had kicked Lucifer away from him with his hind legs.

Luca was shifted within moments, springing at Lucifer with teeth bared and a growl breaking from his throat. He managed to bite down on Lucifer's forearm and swung him over his head.

Howling, Lucifer toppled over, thrashing and flailing, and struck the glass of the windows. The glass shattered and Lucifer sailed into the open air and plummeted down. Screaming, he dropped into the darkness.
