21 Red meets Gold

Standing in the middle of the street with helicopter lights shining on them, 2 men were staring at each other's eyes for a few tense moments.

"It's quite simple what happened here," Damian said, breaking the silence the 2 kings had created.

"I was attacked out of nowhere and I defended myself. Plain and simple" He stated, causing the surrounding soldiers to look at Damian as if he were crazy.

Chuckling lightly at the simplicity of Damian's response, Cole asked another question.

"Who attacked you then? The Blue King?" Cole said, causing Damian slowly to nod in response.

"Yes, it was the Blue King, he has control of the ice element and his weapon is a bow. But with the ease of which you brought him up, it seems you were already aware of him. How did you find out about him?" Damian said before asking a question in response as he shifted his eyes between cole and his car once again. He was pretty annoyed that he now had to find a new vehicle to drive while explaining to his mother what happened to the car.

"The answer is quite simple," Cole said, using Damian's earlier words against him. "The Blue King has been on our radar these past few weeks for being one of the few who has come into contact with the Green King."

Zeroing in on the fact that the Green King was mentioned, Damian blinked his eyes a few times while leaning side to side to get some movement going to fight back his oncoming exhaustion. "I thought the Green King was remaining elusive to the other Kings, how do you know that they are both in contact with each other?"

Crossing his arms over his chest, Cole thought back to the information they had gained the past few days, as well as his first meeting with the Blue King. "We have been monitoring the Blue King ever since he came to me, looking to be entertained with a fight.

He knew my patrol route and location exactly. He also attacked the vehicle I was specifically inside, discarding the presence of the other vehicles entirely. We fought that evening but it was only a brief encounter. Primarily because more soldiers started to show up and the numbers scared him off.

I personally think that I was being followed and tracked somehow, but with my movements being hidden by the government itself, nobody should be able to find me if they wanted to.

Yet the Blue King knew exactly where I was. Which led me to suspect one of the kings had an ability that allowed them to bypass restrictions on the internet. In the end, I could only link this with the Green King since I know the powers and abilities of every other king."

"I see, I think this is enough talk for tonight," Damian said softly as his fatigue was rapidly building. "I am going home Red King, I trust you will handle the situation perfectly, as you always do," Damian said as he slowly turned around and jumped back onto the rooftop of the building he had jumped down from.

Seeing the Gold King prepare to leave, Cole decided to leave an offer open for him. "You should meet me at the military sometime in the next few weeks. I will leave back for my own home soon so you will not be able to see me for a while. Before I do, I can give you more information about the connection of Blue and Green Kings." Cole said, causing Damian to turn back to him for a short moment.

"I will take you up on that offer Red King," Damian said as he turned back around while his body started to crackle with golden lightning. After raising his hand and waving backward to Cole and the soldiers, Damian left a short message before he leaped from building to building. Quickly disappeared into the night.

"I will meet with you again when I have the time. Also, remember what I said about trying to identify me."

...

Landing softly in the front yard of his home, Damian now feeling a bit awake from the wind that blew against his body on the way here, sighed and removed his mask from his face before holding it in hand.

Using his other hand, he reached into his pocket one in his pocket and retrieved his phone. Make sure that there was a bit of time before it hit one in the morning, Damian entered his home to find his mother asleep on the couch.

Unable to simply leave her there all night, he woke her up with some light shaking and gentle talking.

"Mom, You need to sleep in your bed, the couch is uncomfortable."

Seeing that his mother was waking up, even if only a little, he let her sit up and sleepily get to her feet. before lightly guiding her into the hallway. "You are finally home. I made dinner..." She said as she almost fell asleep again and mid-step.

Luckily Damian caught her before she fell too far and woke up. Seeing that she was really sleepy and tired, he shook his head and put the mask he had been holding onto a table in the living room. After doing that, he put his hands on her shoulders while guiding her through the hallway. "Let's get you to your room," he said tiredly in his mind.

After helping her get to her room and into her bed, Damian covered his mother with a blanket and walking out. He then went to his own room after turning out the lights around the house and checking the doors were locked.

Finally, he was able to flop onto his bed and relax. It took no time for Damian's fatigue to finally catch him lacking and after a few seconds, he was out cold.

...

The next day, Damian awoke from the shuffling of footsteps in the hallway, courtesy of his mother. As he slowly sat up, still a bit tired from the night before, he heard his mother knock on the door.

"Damian, I made breakfast if you want to eat. If you aren't going to get up, I can put it in the microwave for you."

Hearing his mother's words, he knew that she was preparing to go to work. Looking at the time, it was almost 5 am. Deciding that he could at least eat and talk with his mom before sleeping more after she had left, he got up and brushed his teeth while changing into pajamas.

A few minutes later, Damian walked into the living room to find his mother watching the news. Sitting in a chair in the side of the room with a plate of eggs and bacon in his hand, Damian watched the broadcast that was explaining his battle with the Blue King as an altercation between strains.

"Look Damian, there was some sort of battle last night involving high-class strains. Half a block of buildings was destroyed so you need to be careful while you are out." She said as she looked at him while he was scooping eggs into his mouth with a fork.

Avoiding his mother's eyes, Damian looked at the TV screen. On the screen, there were pictures depicting the damage to the surrounding area where his battle had been. Fortunately, his car had already been removed by the government so the news stations were unable to get a picture of it to appear on-air.

Smiling at her son, Damian's mother, Angela, moved over to her son and tried to pinch his cheeks. Sadly, Damian moved his face out of reach while she tried.

Seeing that it was almost time to leave, Angela stood up and grabbed her purse from the nearby table, failing to notice the mask laying behind it.

"You need to tell your job that you will be going to college soon. So then you can change your work schedule to accommodate your class times." She said, reminding Damian once again that he would also need to move into his dorm room in a week.

"You can use your car to move in, I'll be at work but with you and the other two going to the same school you can all help each other move into your rooms." She said as she opened the front door and looked outside as the sun began to shine over the horizon.

As she was doing that, Damian was thinking about how Golden Age would run if he, Kai, and Ari were all in college. It was safe to say that probably half of the current Golden Age members would be going to or attending College.

With the absence of the top 3 people in the organization, Damian feared there would be some problems while the other clansman completed missions offered to them by the city or government.

Fortunately, or maybe not, Damian was interrupted from his thoughts when his mom yelled his name again.

"Damian!"

Snapping his head to his mother, he saw her looking at him a bit confused.

"Where is your car?" She asked as Damian shifted his eyes around the room seemingly looking for an excuse to use.

"Well... you see... what had happened was..."
