14 It’s Always A Brief Encounter

Around the 9 at night, Damian, Kai, and Ari were sitting back in the abandoned warehouse they had visited before, the military had already searched the entire harbor over night but with few security cameras with low quality footage of darkness and water from the ocean, they had little evidence of the activities of the trio they left the area.

Today they had decided to clean up the warehouse in preparation for Damian's video. Luckily there weren't many things around since the military had moved and thrown away any left over things like the leftover boxes. Now the warehouse was completely empty and dusty. The lights didn't work so they had to bring a few ring lights to brighten up the area.

Taking about a few hours of their afternoon to clean out the office of the warehouse and make it look decent. Kai went to the car and brought back a few bags in his hands.

"There are a few options for the mask." He said as he said as he and Ari held up the masks they had brought earlier in the day.

One mask was a full face white, black, and gold kitsune (or fox) mask. The base of the mask was white with gold lining the key features, the eyes, mouth, and ears, and black surrounding the gold.

Another was a full face white mask with the eyes and mouth cut out. The mouth was in the shape of a wide smile and even with it over someone's face ,the eyes and mouth remain completely dark, giving it an extremely ominous look. Though it wasn't really understood how that was possible.

The final mask was more of a respirator type mask. It was black in color with little filters on the side of the mask. It covered from the chin up to the nose and completely covered the lower half of the face. It didn't do anything about his eyes but in itself, the mask was pretty nice looking in Damian's eyes.

Taking some time to try on all 3 masks, Damian picked the mask which he liked the most. It was the kitsune mask. He picked this because of the others not fitting what he was trying to do. The respirator type mask didn't cover the upper part of his face, he assumed that his video would be available online somewhere and if his mother saw then she would immediately recognize him.

As for the white smiley face mask, it was just too creepy. Damian wasn't trying to seem dangerous to the president and that mask just screams terrifying.

Handing the other 2 masks back to his friends, Damian looked at his clothes before asking them if they brought the jacket he asked for. Moment after he asked, Kai left and returned with another bag.

Taking out it's contents, Damian smiled as he saw that it war there black trench coat that he had asked for. As to why he asked for this, it was something he hadn't owned before so his mother wouldn't be able to recognize his clothing if she saw it in the video.

Damian was very concerned about his mother finding out about the secret. He would rather her remain unbothered and carefree as she did her job at the hospital.

He would take all the steps necessary to keep her safe as a normal person and not expose his secret unless it were completely necessary.

....

After taking even more time to set up the video. Damian, while looking out of the office, was wearing the mask and trench coat when the video was taken.

He didn't turn to look at the camera and instead let silence fill the air for a moment before he finally crossed his arms and turned his head towards the camera, his golden pupils the only thing noticeable as he wore the mask.

"Good evening madam president. I am the gold king, I can't reveal my name for secrecy's sake but I've done this in order to answer your request from earlier today. I'll start off by saying my intentions in order to alleviate your concerns.

I intend to live a normal life for as long as I can. I will also not abuse people with my powers, as I am not a tyrant. There is one small thing though..." he said as his voice trailed off while his sword manifested in his hand.

With instantaneous swing of his hand, the clash of metal was heard as something fell to the ground while his aura exploded from his body. "You really try that?" He asked as he turned his attention to a shadow in the corner of the room. "Who are you?!"

"Relax Kid, I have no problems with you, I had to make sure that you weren't just playing dress up with your friends!" A solemn voice was heard as a man slowly emerged from the shadow in the corner of the room, he wore a black trench coat with a black cloth mask covering the lower half of his face.

"Tell me! Who are you and why did you attack me!" Damian said as he pointed his sword at the man. Kai and Ari had already moved behind Damian so with a clear space between them the man stepped out of the darkness.

"I'm the Black King, Kain, Like I said before, I was checking if you were serious or not about being a king." Kane said as he picked up the black dagger on the ground and held it in his hand.

"I didn't come to fight you kid." Kane said making Damian chuckle lightly.

"What would have happened if I wasn't a king and that hit me? That thing was going right for my heart!" He responded as his blade slowly became covered in a golden light.

"Then you would have died for trying to impersonate a king." Kane said as he turned around and started walking back into the darkness. "I'll give you a warning also, don't stand in my way if they ask you to." He said as he looked back at Damian as a black aura exploded from his body and clashed against Damian's in the middle of the room.

"If you do then I'll kill you and your friends." He said as he disappeared into the shadow on the wall.

"What the fuck..." Kai said as he held the camera in his hand and looked back at Damian who slowly began to put the sword in his hand away.

"Were you still recording?" Damian asked as he turned his head to Kai. It was Ari who responded though as Kai was still a bit confused with what happened.

"Yes, he was recording everything... should we start over?" Ari asked, she had to remember to not say any names or else people can easily look up their names and find out who they are.

"No... I'll just summarize it since the military will show up soon..." Damian said as the sword in his hand dissipated.

With the brief meeting between Kane and Damian over, Damian wrapped up what he had to say. He stated that he wanted to create a group that's was more like peace keepers for when the military weren't around. They would have equal say as the police and would be primarily focused on keeping strains in check, other kings too if necessary.

He also said that he didn't want to cause problems for the government but if they tried to find out his identity or keep tracking him then he would be uncooperative with any requests they might have in the future.

Ending the video quickly as it already been 10 minutes long, the trio the scene but not before allowing Kai and Ari, while wearing the smiley face mask, to become his first clansman at the end.

As the trio got into the car and drove away, Kane stepped out of the shadows and looked into the distance. "I'll need a organization as well... maybe..." he said as he stepped back into the shadows, leaving nothing except water crashing against the shoreline, as the only sound other than silence in the area.
