3 Golden King

"They changed colors..."

Damian immediately took Ari's phone and looked at his reflection through the camera feature. His eyes widen in surprise and confusion.

"Why the hell is happening to me?!"

"Damian, can you tell us what's going on? Why are your eyes glowing?" Kai asked suspiciously while thinking back to a few moments before when his friend has brought up "Pandora's Box". Wanting an explanation as well Ari nodded while hurriedly moving behind Kai's back.

Damian, looking at his long-time friends began to think back on the mysterious text which appeared in his mind. After some time he closed his eyes and began speaking as if reading a script summarizing historical events.

"Pandora's Box, it is something that while not researched much in this universe had a true form in the world of Raya 5. On planet Raya, the box was known as a legendary relic capable of granting wishes and giving people power.

The box itself selects 7 people at random on the planet to grant their wish and give them the power of a "king". Through this power, they are given the ability to use and manipulate a desired ability or element to their will while also given them the power to accept people into their group.

This effectively means that the king is sharing their power with others to a certain extent.

This was later given the term, clansman, where people are accepted by their king and given a piece of the power their king possesses. If at any time, there is someone who wants the power of multiple kings, they can be accepted into multiple clans, though this is at the discretion of the king.

Also, a king's power is shown by a larger avatar sitting on a throne with both being created from the king's power, the avatar wears a mantle and crown symbolizing the king's status. The mantle and crown are decided based on the nature of the king's power.

If the king is to overuse their power at a point in time, a great catastrophe will occur. To prevent such a tragedy the king must be killed by another king."

When Damian finally finished reading all of the translated words in his head he opened his eyes to see his friends looking at him in confusion.

"That's all I know, there was nothing that said how I even gained this knowledge or power other than that. I guess it needs to just be discovered over time." He said as he shrugged his shoulders and flashed a smile to his friends, causing them both to take a step back from him. This in turn caused his smile to shift into a frown.

"What does that mean then? You and others are some kind of kings?" Kai said as he looked up and down at his friend. "I don't see much of a difference other than your eyes..." Kai was very skeptical of what his friend was saying, he was even starting to convince himself that they were every well-placed contact lenses.

Frowning at his friend to the slight discomfort from Ari, Damian took a few steps back before trying to feel the new power within his body. It was pretty hard since he had never experienced something like this before.

Unfortunately with a look of skepticism on Kai's face, Damian became a bit distracted as he thought about the possibility of being seen as weird by his closest friends. While letting his thoughts wander, he activated his power for the first time while momentarily forgetting to control his powers.

Suddenly and without warning to either himself or his friends, a pillar of golden light erupted from his body. The force of energy being released without constraint sent a sending a powerful shockwave into his surroundings. This caused Ari and Kai to blown bit down the field, around 20 yards away from where they previously were.

Seeing his friends being blown away so dangerously, Damian immediately began to call out to his friends while frantically trying to retain his powers. Luckily for Damian, his friends were able to stumble to their feet as Damian's pillar of light lessened a bit.

"Are you both alright?!" Damian asked loudly, he was extremely worried about the conditions of his friends but before going near them he wanted to control his power.

Luckily for him, both Ari and Kai looked at each other. They were hurting a bit from the unexpected trip down the field but other than a few scrapes and bruised they were perfectly fine. If anything they were excited at the prospect of Damian having such power.

Though, they were equally as terrified as they were excited. Fortunately, they knew Damian like a book. He wasn't a different person from the person they knew, this was evident by his concern for their safety. Even if he had powers now they knew he would never intentionally hurt them.

"That was insane!" Kai said before looking back at Damian with an excited look on his face.

Sadly, this caused Damian's mental facilities to slow to a crawl as the notion that he had caused them brain damage surfaced in his mind.

"Damian! Is that going to hurt us?" Ari asked excitedly as she and Kai both ran back to Damian's location.

Looking at his friends standing in front of him with bright smiles on their faces, Damian felt like he wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. His mind was split between his friends suffering from possible brain damage while he remembered that they were all gamers so they would have a large interest in things like this.

"It won't hurt you guys," He replied with an exhausted tone. He felt like he had experienced hundreds of emotions in such a short amount of time and his brain couldn't handle it.

"I don't remember my own wish but I know I wouldn't have some kind of power that leeches the life from people who come in contact with it." He said from inside the pillar while looking at his hand that was slowly becoming suffused in a golden aura.

As he was looking at his hand becoming covered in a golden aura, his friends were excitedly waving their hands through and trying to grasp portions of Damian's energy pillar.

"My friends aren't broken are they?" Damian mumbled as he looked at his friends that resembled babies learning about ocean waves for the first time. Shaking his head slowly with an exhausted sigh, Damian shifted his focus above him as he felt something was going to happen.

Looking upwards into the sky at the pillar that stopped hundreds of meters in the air, the other two child like friends followed Damian's gaze. Just as they changed their focus, the pillar of golden light began to disintegrate from the top down slowly revealing a large golden throne.

It looked about 20 stories tall, cracklings with streaks of lightning as a large avatar wearing golden armor sat in the wearing a black mask that had streaks of lightning streaking out the top like horns.

While its shoulders were being slightly covered by a mantle currently being fabricated by golden lightning. At the top of the avatar's head, lightning gathered before solidifying into a golden crown crackling with smaller streaks of lightning.

"That's so cool!" Kai said as he looked back at Damian who was staring at his palm. Damian had noticed that the throne avatar seemed to have golden lightning around its body and equipment.

So while feeling a bit inspired, he began attempting to gather and disperse golden lightning on his palm. He was largely unsuccessful at first but, after a few moments, he was able to manipulate the golden aura around his body into golden lightning.

"Won't this cause a lot of problems? That thing is huge!" Ari said as she looked back at Damian who was occupied with manipulating the golden lightning.

"Quickly turn it off!" Ari said frantically, grabbing Damian's attention as he thought about their current situation. He was effectively exposing himself the longer he had his power activated. The government will have the military head straight for his location due to the giant beacon above him.

Damian smiles at his worried friend. Damian held his fists out to his friends while sealing his power after a few seconds, effectively causing the throne in the sky to disappear into small motes of golden light.

"As long as you both don't tell anyone then you can both be my first clansman." He offered as he shot a grin at both of his friends who simply smiled at him in return.

"You don't need to worry about that, it's just another secret for us to keep. Don't we have a lot of them already?" Kai said as he bumped his fists with his longtime friend.

"Stupid! We were going to be the first anyways, that is how we always form our guild, Golden Age, no matter the game" She said cheerfully as she also bumped fists with Damian.

Hearing the words of his friends, Damian understood his friends would never reveal what has happened. Seeing as he had their attention, he decided to speak his thoughts to Kai and Ari.

"I feel I have more power than that but I can't use it yet. What do you both think?" He asked as he put his hands into his pockets and looked around for their schoolbags which has been blown into the distance.

"Right now I think that we need to get out of here, I doubt your display of power wasn't terrifying to the people in the area" Kai said as he punched Damian's shoulder lightly after walking beside him.

"What is the purpose of this power though... what was my wish..." Damian wondered in his mind as he and his friends picked up their schoolbags from separate locations in the field before fleeing the scene.

Around 15 minutes later, the area was surrounded by helicopters and military trucks as the entire area became off-limits to the public.

"Find whatever caused that thing in the sky that was reported. Something happened in Boston so it can't be a coincidence! Go!" A man wearing black tactical gear said as the dozens of soldiers in front of him began moving through the area in search of someone who was already long gone.
