After a while, the group walked to the room where Xia Ningyan was kept. As the bodyguards opened the door, Shi Jue moved in front of Xia Weiyang to keep her safe. When the door opened, an unpleasant smell assailed their nostrils. Xia Weiyang could not help but cover her nose with her hand.

She had never thought that Xia Ningyan, who always maintained a beautiful and tidy appearance, would live in such a place.

Shi Jue instantly reached out and fanned the unpleasant smell around Xia Weiyang. He then frowned as he looked at his bodyguards.

Shi Jue shuddered while thinking about the conditions inside Xia Ningyan's room. Then, his face darkened as his entire body emitted a terrifying evil aura. His sharp eyes swept across the bodyguards, causing them to tremble in fear.

After a moment, Shi Jue withdrew his gaze and hugged Xia Weiyang. "Bring her out!" he said. He refused to let Xia Weiyang enter Xia Ningyan's disgusting room.

"Yes." The bodyguards nodded repeatedly.

As Shi Jue and Xia Weiyang walked away, a few of the bodyguards exchanged glances and hurriedly entered the room.

"Xia Weiyang, do you think that I've gone too far?" Shi Jue suddenly asked with slight apprehension.

Xia Weiyang raised her eyebrows. She felt a bit baffled. "Why would you say that?" She stared deeply into Shi Jue's eyes. It seemed Shi Jue was questioning himself regarding his treatment of Xia Ningyan.

He stared back at Xia Weiyang.

"You're Shi Jue. Your strength, tyranny, and harsh methods are all your hallmarks. Since I know your true character, why would I blame you?"

Xia Weiyang reached out and held Shi Jue's hand.

She would never have thought that he, who had always been confident and domineering, would doubt himself.

It seemed Shi Jue's character was still changing.

"I was wrong," Shi Jue said.

"I'm worried that you would think that I'm evil because of how I treated Xia Ningyan. After all, men like women who are gentle and kind," Xia Weiyang said.
