1 Chapter 1: The Embarrassing Party

"Mr. Valencian!" I called out in the middle of the party and somehow, successfully, dragged his attention.

And not only his.

His handsome face turned towards me. Those blue eyes were deep as the ocean. His perfect features resonated like a masterpiece and his silky hair fell on his forehead. His jawline and his lips were so perfect that there was no metaphor for them.

"You destroyed my family. I need you to pay me back now!" I continued shouting, ignoring it all.

There was a small smirk on his lips. As he gave a small look to the DJ, the music slowed down and then ceased to exist.

"What do you want, lady?" His voice was sexy. "Attention? Well, there you go."

My blood boiled from his words. "I don't want any fucking attention!"

He took a step toward me, keeping his cool.

"Then?"

"I told you. You ruined my family. You need to make up for it!"

He chuckled for a second. "And what if I don't?"

I wasn't confident but that didn't stop me. I took out a gun from my coat and pointed it toward him. "I-I will shoot you!"

As I said that, two big guards started coming towards me. I felt afraid, but he looked at them and let out a small order: "Stop."

They stopped at once and I looked at him.

"Don't worry," He said in his normal pride, "I will handle her myself."

I knitted my brows and looked at him with confusion. He came closer — so much so that the end of the gun touched his chest.

"Shoot."

His carefree voice made me afraid. What was going on? Why wasn't he caring at all?

This was my chance for revenge. I couldn't lose it.

I closed my eyes and pulled the trigger.

Nothing happened.

I looked at him and he sighed. "Well, you should know that every gun is emptied before anyone enters my parties. Anyway, I just saved you from a long ass time in prison. Why don't you start by thanking me?"

I was extremely embarrassed and looked down, processing what happened. He smirked and everyone clapped for him — which made the matter a lot more worse.

I felt tears on the verge of falling down so I ran out of the place.

Today was a bad day.

A very bad one.

I reached my house after a long time. Crying in the park all alone didn't help — a lot of people had witnessed me back at the party and they gave me weird glares.

I had made such a big mistake and I didn't know how to resolve it.

When I entered the house, I saw my son – Andrew Walker – come up to me.

I smiled widely. "Hey, baby… how was your day?" I asked as I sat down and patted his head.

He smiled back.

"It was good, mommy! No one makes fun of me anymore after I took the fight to Warner. I feel so happy!"

I hugged him and then carried him inside the house. "I told you, honey. You just need to be strong."

Andrew was just six years old. He had always been bullied at school — well, I didn't know about that until a while back. I tried asking the teacher to help but she told me that she couldn't control Warner. So, I told him to take care of it himself and as usual, he excelled in the work.

"Mommy, mommy. But I always think what he means."

I looked at him with a frown. "I told you, don't think about it. He is just a jerk."

"But mommy, he doesn't say that to anyone else."

I took his face in my hands and smiled. "People throw stones at things that shine, honey. They only hurt the people they think are good."

He let out a dramatic sigh and I chuckled. "Okay, now. Chop, chop. Lunch is coming!" He went to the dining table and I continued to serve him the food.

_____

I am Scarlett Walker. 25 – and a single mom. I don't take anything from others and get really angry when someone takes something from me — like that stupid billionaire did.

Xavier Valencian. I hate that name so much.

That bastard. He killed my mom and called it an accident.

I still remember the night three years ago. I was walking on the road with my mom because it had been a while since we hung out… and then it happened.

His car accident. He didn't get hurt but my mom died.

My family fell apart after that. Dad started drinking and I, being a single mom, moved out of my dad's to save my son from all that and started a new life of my own.

I lost my family that day and I had been mustering up the courage to get justice till now. I can't lose like this. I can't let that sicko win!
